Wrong HDMI port for 4 years, only realised yesterday. Posted: 07 Jul 2021 03:38 PM PDT Yesterday or the day before, I don't remember. Someone made a post about their PC being slow after being unplugged by parents where I'm pretty sure the solution was that his HDMI was plugged into his Motherboard and not his GPU. https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/odj5r6/pc_slow_after_rough_handling_by_parents/ Well, this inspired me to take a look at my PC that I've had since 2017. And what do you know, I have been gaming using my integrated graphics card since 2018. The HDMI port to the GPU was filled in with these plugs that I never noticed until yesterday. So I plugged the HDMI into the GPU and holy fuck, I've never felt so retarded in my entire life. I have been gaming since 2017 on integrated graphics and not had any clue about it. Is this worse than buying a 144hz monitor and not changing the setting from 60hz for 4 years? Please, before I am insulted too much, I built this PC when I was 16 with 0 experience and no family to help me..... but god.... what an oversight.... fuck me [link] [comments]
Why does it seem like integrated graphics CPUs are more expensive than dedicated ones? Posted: 07 Jul 2021 03:43 PM PDT I keep seeing everywhere people saying if you're not gaming to "buy integrated graphics! save your money!", but from what I'm seeing the dedicated CPUs are actually the cheaper ones? For example pcpartpicker shows: Ryzen 5 3600 at $209.99, but Ryzen 5 3400G (integrated graphics) at $293.76 and also Ryzen 5 2600 at $179.99, but Ryzen 5 2400G (integrated graphics) at $483.08 So even though I personally am not going to be gaming, I should go ahead and purchase a dedicated card anyway. Right? [link] [comments]

Corrupted windows literally 2 days after a clean install. Pls help! Posted: 07 Jul 2021 05:12 PM PDT Hey guys! So a few days ago my gameplay was suddenly interupted by a compete PC freeze. After the freeze the Windows would not BOOT again and got permanantly stuck in a ''trying to repair itself'' loop. After trying a few things including the boot USB repair (which didnt work) I just said fuck it and completly formated my main M2 SSD and installed windows from scratch. ''It was about time for a fresh install anyways'' I told myself and since i have all my important files backed up it wasnt a big deal. now two days later problems accured again and i now get ''something went wrong'' everytime i try to boot up windows which then results in windows repairing itself EVERY TIME IT BOOTS. I'm completly at a loss as to what might be the issue. Is my M2 SSD dying? Would really love some help guys. [link] [comments]
What temporary GPU could I get for under or around $100? Posted: 07 Jul 2021 04:19 PM PDT So I've been trying to get a 3060 ti for a while now with no luck, and I'm not willing to overpay for one. So since I'm pretty tired of having an otherwise completely assembled pc, I'm planning on buying a temporary GPU that I can use. Really all I need out of it is equal or better performance than the Intel UHD 620 graphics on my laptop, which shouldn't be hard to beat. I'm just not super familiar with cheaper or older cards, and prices are already inflated right now, so does anyone know what might be the best option? PC randomly turning off and restarting with no errors? Posted: 07 Jul 2021 03:43 PM PDT I built my PC about 3 weeks ago and recently it has started shutting off and restarting more frequently out of nowhere. I thought it was a power supply heat issue but my PC has been off for a few hours now and I turned it on and used chrome for a bit and it still powered off. Any ideas how to trouble shoot?

Bottom right screw does not allign on motherboard. Posted: 07 Jul 2021 03:36 PM PDT I have a x570-e gaming mobo and my case is a h510. I've tried to reseat the motherboard for 2 hours and all the screws allign (more or less) apart from the bottom right one. I decided to just ignore it and move on with 7/8 screws plus 1 standoff. I finished the build and everything seems to work fine. Should I be worried/care and dismantle the build? [link] [comments]

Trying to put together a small, cheap plex box/file server Posted: 07 Jul 2021 03:32 PM PDT currently i use an old dell for serving plex to my home and a few friends. i'd like to cut down on the size and noise, so i put this together. requirements: needs to run W10, able to handle 4-6 simultaneous plex users, able to use hardware transcoding (i have plex pass, so i have that option). these all seem to be ok parts, but if anyone knows how to knock down the price (or if you know if any of these parts are junk) i'd be grateful for the help! Thanks for any advice. Watercooled 3090? Need a rugged case that can hold 2 AIOs? Posted: 07 Jul 2021 03:26 PM PDT So, this is a strange request, I'm sure. My brother got chosen in the Newegg Shuffle and purchased a GV-N3090AORUSX W-24GD. He has an AIO for his i7-10700K as well. So both are watercooled (240mm radiators x2). His case is a Corsair VENGEANCE C70. There are only 2 areas for water cooling, and the top slot is reserved by the CPU radiator so his only option is on the bottom. I have watched numerous reviews and they all say, "Radiators on the bottom is bad". So I'm looking to find him a case that will fit BOTH radiators. I have a 3090 myself, but it's air cooled (I have a Corsair Carbide Air 540 and a radiator would not fit in the front section due to the GPU length) so it's not something I had to worry about. So I'm looking for a rugged case (obviously not tempered glass, as that could be bad for transporting), that's easy to transport (the Vengeance has 2 handles on the top). Doesn't need a window, but preferable, if that's available. Preferably sub-300.00 USD. Any help is appreciated. [link] [comments] |
