Impact of SLI's "death" on MoBo Form Factor. Posted: 04 Sep 2020 05:29 PM PDT Hi guys, Now that we know RTX 3080 will not support SLI, is there still a place for "mainstream gaming' ATX motherboards in current form? Of course there's still 3090 in the picture but amount of people that are going to run them in SLI is miniscule. Do we still need all those PCIe slots? I've been looking at smaller form factor motherboards and one that caught my eye was Asus Crosshair VIII Impact. It's basically all people will need this gen in unusual mDTX format. Do you think boards like this will become more popular now? Apart from PCIe slots - do we really lose so much that this will never (in foreseeable future) become a standard? [link] [comments] |

Western digital playing silly buggers with drive rpm Posted: 04 Sep 2020 03:46 PM PDT From DataHoarder: https://www.reddit.com/r/DataHoarder/comments/ikk0rv/psa_multiple_wd_5400rpm_drives_are_actually/ some 5400 drives appear to be actualy 7200. Not a massive problem if you are chucking a couple of drives in your case for bulk storage but if you are doing anything more complicated it can cause issues. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 04 Sep 2020 06:11 AM PDT What are your thoughts? Edit: NVIDIA made a case for the 12GB version:
A 3080 Ti with 12GB would have a bandwidth of 936 GB/s while the 20GB version would be 760 GB/s. [link] [comments] |
