Reminder: No memes, even in comments. Posted: 12 Jul 2020 12:46 AM PDT This is a friendly reminder of Rule #3: Memes, direct image links, and low effort content will be removed. This includes both posts and comments. We've had an uptick in meme comments here, and while we mods do enjoy our memes - some of us actually co-moderate a subreddit for that, /r/hardwarememes - they're not appropriate for /r/hardware. While I might give you the courteousy of a warning, technically you can get a 1-3 day tempban for such things (depending on if it was a toxic comment or a just a jesting comment). So please... refrain from these sort of comments so we don't have to be Nazi mods, OK? [link] [comments] |

Do GPU manufacturers provide their instruction sets publicly like CPUs do? Posted: 22 Nov 2020 12:48 PM PST Or is that kept proprietary and hidden within their drivers? Edit: I mean things like opcodes. [link] [comments] |

What do you think with be the response from Windows Laptop manufacturers over the Apple M1 Chip? Posted: 22 Nov 2020 04:59 PM PST Obviously, the Apple M1 chip was quite significant, in terms of both hardware and the support for x86 emulation, etc. However, what do you think the response from Windows Laptop chip manufactures? Do you think that ram with be integrated, do you think that they will also have "AI" matrix cores? [link] [comments] |

Any possibility of a mini air conditioner ever being made for a PC. Posted: 22 Nov 2020 05:01 AM PST Would it ever be possible to make a mini AC unit for the computer to keep it cool. The same as your apartment window AC but just miniature. Tiny compressor etc. It would probably be noisy and you would need to drain the condensation some how. I know its far fetched but just thinking out loud here and probably 500 years into the future. [link] [comments] |
