What are the possible Hardware Interfaces that a modern type-C hub can use?

    Posted: 06 Sep 2021 02:43 PM PDT

I know only of thunderbolt and the standard USB interface.

I want to know what interface this hub uses because I want to buy an appropriate extender cable for it because the one built-in is too small and is L shaped which is too difficult to unplug.

Ubuntu's settings say that no thunderbolt device is connected when I am using this hub. boltctl list also returns nothing.

I have also ruled out USB because it can't do PD and HDMI(?)

So, if it's not using one of these 2, is it using some weird hax technology to somehow manage doing what it can do or is there a third kind of hardware interface used for such hubs which I am not familiar with?

Would a ThunderBolt cable like this work no matter what the interface this hub is using?
