Posted: 14 Jun 2021 12:18 AM PDT So this is my first ever PC build I ever did. The story is that for the past 4-5 years I was actually saving up money to replace my current "sports" car for one even better. But this year I discovered that my current car will maybe get some value jumps in couple of years (long story). So I decide that i will be keeping my car and than said what the hell, why not build some sort of a gaming PC. So I was not really short on money as car I was looking for is waaay more money than one PC. I wanted to spend money on parts that I would not need to replace them in 3-4 years, and try to save some money on some, that i can replace later on, when prices drop. So here are the pictures of the build (yes my PC is under the table, but this is the only place I can have it at the moment): https://imgur.com/gallery/leuQul6 Specs: CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800x MB: ASUS ROG STRIX B550-F GPU: Palit GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (paid 220€, the only one I could get ATM) Memory: Crucial Ballistix (2x8) 16GB DDR4 3600 Storage: 1x Samsung 980 M.2 SSD NVME 500GB, 1x Samsung SSD SATA 3 1TB CPU Cooling: BeQuiet Dark Rock 4 Case: Phantex P300 with 1x 120mm exhaust fan and 2x BeQuiet 140mm intake fans PSU: Asus ROG STRIX 650W 80PLUS Gold Also paired it with AOC 24" 1920x1080 144Hz display. This was such a journey to learn new things about PC in general. I also calmed down a kid in me as a really love to build things on my own. I already started to annoy my friend that they need a new PC and that I would love to build them one hehe So yeah, learned a LOT in this past 6 months, discovered Reddid in the proces and this SubReddit which was a HUGE help all along. Hope to build some high end computers in the future! PS: Does anyone knows how to completely turn off LED on mobo. There is a light on it that even when i turn off my PC, it is still on. Have to switch I/O switch on PSU to turn it off. [link] [comments]
What are your favorite brands of each PC component? Posted: 14 Jun 2021 11:15 AM PDT For any reason at all. Maybe it was your first purchase or a brand that has never failed you. What brands do you tend to repurchase and support? [link] [comments]
Help. I think i blew up my PSU/pc :( Posted: 14 Jun 2021 07:24 AM PDT Still in a bit of shock and would really appreciate any help. Here's what happened. So i was building it with my two mates. We connected everything up, then went to test to see if everything was booting before we do all the cable management etc. Hit the power button, but only the rgb on the ram was lighting up. So then we tried disconnecting the power to the gfx card and only leaving the motherboard and cpu connected to the power supply. Still no luck. Finally we unplugged the extra 4 pin for the cpu, tried to turn it on... then *poof* power supply blew up. The lights even dimmed. Immediately switched off the psu and and unplugged the power. At first we thought it may be a faulty power supply, but upon further inspection, it looks like we connected the PCIE cable to the CPU 8 pin on the motherboard and the EPS cable to the gfx card. Would this cause the power supply to blow up? I'm hoping the power supply took the brunt of it and did what it was meant to do. Just really worried that i did damage to the graphics card, motherboard or cpu. Would they have been fried too if that was the case? i.e. there would be damage elsewhere? Also do you think this would be covered in the warranty? These psu's are not cheap and i went way over budget already :( I'm too scared to touch the pc anymore, gonna take it to a professional to get it running.. hopefully. Here are the parts i used: PSU: SilverStone SX1000 SFX-L Platinum Modular 1000W CPU: Ryzen 9 5900 GPU: Aorus Extreme 3080 RAM: 4 x 8 (32GB) Corsair Dominator RGB 3600 MB: Gigabyte x570 aorus pro wifi Thank you for reading. *edit* thanks for all the replies everyone. It fuckin hurts but i'm prepared for the worst now. Gonna try to sleep since there's nothing i can do now. [link] [comments]
Can't break 144fps on Warzone, brand new RX 6800 Posted: 14 Jun 2021 09:52 AM PDT https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/43881433 I was about to purchase a new 144hz monitor after testing a few games but now I'm hesitant. Even if I drop my resolution to 720p and drop all settings to low, I can't break 144fps on Warzone. Looking at other benchmarks with the 6800 I see people get 200fps+ with similar builds. Is the Ryzen 5 3600x seriously not enough to be playing games near 200fps? Or is warzone just poorly optimized. *CPU usage was never going past 60%, GPU was never dropping below 80% [link] [comments]
Is a 3070 overkill for consistent 1080p 60FPS gaming on high settings? Posted: 13 Jun 2021 07:35 AM PDT Hello, this is my first post here so apologies if it is slightly novice. I've been sat on the idea of purchasing a 3070 since before its launch, however as we all know the prices for them things are soaring due to the high demand. In this time, I have deliberated as to whether it is actually worth buying the card, as although the future-proofing would be nice, most of my games are relatively easy to run and I am not excited for any new products that have been revealed. Atop of this, I have yet to witness the apparent godliness of post-1080p 60FPS gaming, and as far as I understand once you have seen that there is not much going back. I'm more than satisfied staying with this resolution, however once again should I want to upgrade the 3070 seems worth it. Apologies for the ramble-y post, I kind of just wanted to write my thoughts down and get some outside opinions on my situation. My current PC specs are as follows, however I would of course upgrade to a beefier PSU if I purchased the card. GTX 1050ti 4GB, Ryzen 7 1700, 2x8GB 2666MHz RAM, 224 (I think) GB M.2 SSD, a 2TB HDD and a 500W Riotoro PSU. Thanks, Wise [link] [comments]
Posted: 14 Jun 2021 05:16 AM PDT I am a student so I can only upgrade one by one. My parents dont help me so... Build: MOBO: Asus Prime a320m-k CPU: Ryzen 3 2200g GPU: RTX 2060 RAM: HyperX Fury 8G 2400MHz I already upgrade last month my GPU from GTX 1050 2GB Now I dont know what to upgrade first. I'm mostly gaming AAA games like Metro Series, RE Series, etc. Im planning to upgrade my cpu to r5 3600 and ram to 3200mhz 16gb Which should I prioritize? Edit: Decided to do CPU Upgrade Thank u so much [link] [comments]
Apprehension about case swapping my prebuilt Posted: 14 Jun 2021 01:20 PM PDT Let me first state that I've done some minimalistic things such as adding fans. My prebuilt HP 25L (i7-10700, 2060 super) gets toasty from I think is poor case design, I plan on getting the Lian Li lancool ii performance case. Hoping it all goes smoothly. Can't afford to do a cpu cooler yet so the stock on will have to stay for now. I've shied away from cars with rgb because the HP mobo has proprietary rgb(I think). Anything else I should know? Probably gonna order the case this weekend [link] [comments]
Posted: 13 Jun 2021 05:02 PM PDT I know the 1070 is getting older, and with games getting more and more demanding, I know I'll need to upgrade eventually. But with the chip shortage prices are insane as you all know. I don't need more than 60 FPS since I mostly play on my tv, but it is 4k. Most modern games I can still run a stable 60 fps at 1440p on high settings, but I know that won't last. Should I bite the bullet and give in to these sky high prices, or do you guys think I'll still be able to smoothly play this year's crop of games? I'm pretty new to PC gaming, so I don't really know how to gauge these things. [link] [comments]

Bought a WiFi card but the side metal bit is too big compared to my case? Posted: 14 Jun 2021 10:05 AM PDT Just bought a Ziyituod PCI-E WiFi and Bluetooth card but when trying to fit it into the PCI slot, I realised the metal bit is bigger than the standard for the case. Anyone experienced this before and are there any way around it? Or do I need to return it and look for a new one? Edit: thanks for the comments everyone, I was silly and didn't remove the metal side plating cover from my case first. All sorted now! [link] [comments]
New build | screen lacking and infinite reboot Posted: 14 Jun 2021 10:50 AM PDT This weekend I went to build a computer for a friend, taking the time to assemble everything. No problems encountered and finally the moment of truth .. The computer started up properly and immediately entered the bios, nothing changed and let it restart. Then I got the following two options "F1" for Intel default CPU settings "F3" to unlock limits for increased performance. Selected "F1" and the computer rebooted, and this continued to repeat every 10 seconds. Sometimes it stayed on a little longer and I got a green error screen but with the "Republic of Gamers logo" still visible. Also sometimes I just get a bright black screen with the logo and the option to go to BIOS but then the keyboard doesn't respond. When I do a BIOS reset everything is back to normal and I get the two options "F1" & "F3" again but I can't get into the BIOS itself anymore. Qcodes the motherboard indicates between reboots in different sequences:
Relevant software and hardware I use:
What I have already found or tried: Cables checked and connected again, Video card removed to make it a bit easier with the reset. RAM was hard to get to because of the cooler but put it out and in. I suspect the processor has a problem, but I'm only basing that because the first boot everything went well and only gave problems when selecting "F1". Hope you can guide me in this. Thanks in advance. Memory Error at Shutdown. Should I be concerned? Posted: 14 Jun 2021 11:59 AM PDT Ever since I updated my windows to the 21H1 version, my computer has been experiencing memory error at shutdown. I've tried sfc /scannow in command prompt, malwarebyte scanned, and everything is coming back normal. My PC's performance hasn't change, but I'm concerned if it will creates problems in the future. Posted: 14 Jun 2021 02:10 PM PDT So this is my first time building a PC, so I apologize if I'm being stupid. Posted: 14 Jun 2021 11:53 AM PDT Hey guys, Few months back I let my buddy make my PC. - MSI Carbon gaming X570 - Corsair Vengeance 32GB 3600MHZ - Ryzen 5 5600x - EVGA 3080 FTW3 Ultra gaming - Corsair H150i - Corsair RM850X - 9!! Corsair ML120 fans - 1 Corsair LL120 fan A real beauty if I say myself. I only have one slight problem. The pc creates a massive amount of heat and shuts off sometimes without a warning. We already did dive in it a bit; I started with 7 fans, those were a few fans which came with the case. I replaced them with the ML's and added additional MLs so I have a total of 10 fans now. The problem started when I updated my BIOS at some point through MSI live update. I recently updated to the most up to date BIOS and the problem still stays. The fans(all 10) are rotating at around 1400RPM. So I don't think that could be the problem. CPU gets around 55c while gaming - GPU gets around 75c while gaming. I did some hardware monitoring and the temps are not shocking. The only thing is my ICUE is showing that 2 of my RAMS gat around 75c which is high. Might this be the problem? how to solve it? My room temperature is kinda high, around 25c, but that shouldn't be shocking as well. Please help me fix this problem so I can proper game again:)! New PC running slow, no idea why... Posted: 14 Jun 2021 01:42 PM PDT Just built my first gaming PC with high specs: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080ti updated to the newest driver I7 7700k intel CPU 16gb ram All water cooled cpu averages 34 degrees, GPU averages 25 degrees Every game I boot up only runs at 30 FPS. Warzone only can get 20 FPS in the menu but when I boot up a game it crashes. I have no idea what's going on. My brother says something has to be wrong with the parts but I don't see what. Anybody have any ideas??? I'm about to through in the towel and sell the parts [link] [comments]
3080ti GPU usage only 70-75% in game. Posted: 14 Jun 2021 11:25 AM PDT So as the title says when I play games like Star Wars battlefront 2 my GPU usage hovers around 70-75% usage. Playing on a 1440p 144hz monitor and I get around 130-140fps on average which seems low imo. When I got this 3080ti I thought I'd be getting at least a consistent 144fps to match up with my monitors 144hz. I first thought this was a power issue and it still might be. My GPU is only pulling 330watts under load which I've read is low. On GPU-Z it sometimes says no enough reliable power, sometimes it says it can't pull more. I have a 750watt gold rated Corsair power supply, and it has more headroom than it needs. Should I upgrade to an 850w? Also Incase anyone needs to know this to help, my CPU is a Ryzen 7 3700x, 16gigs of Corsair vengeance 3200mhz ram, ASUS Rog Dark hero Mobo. Don't know if that'll help or matter really. Provide any additional details you wish below. Is mounting the ARCTIC AIO in the front of the case the best option? I've heard it has a thicker radiator than other AIOs which can make top mounting difficult with motherboard clearance. I've also considered the Corsair 5000d airflow with Corsair iCUE H150i ELITE CAPELLIX. Recommendations on additional case fans are most welcome. Finally, I saw the Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero motherboard while looking at more expensive motherboard options. The only features that had me considering it was asus dynamic OC switcher and the lack of a VRM fan. Is this at all worth considering? [link] [comments]

Posted: 14 Jun 2021 12:43 PM PDT Hi, I'm building my first PC and I was wondering if this list looks OK. I've been struggling to find a GPU that's within my budget, given how insane prices are right now. I would hold off on building if I could, but my last computer (a pre-built) is getting ready to give up the ghost. I want to use this PC for work and school, with some mid-tier gaming and media streaming on the side. It doesn't need to be a beast, I just wanna build a PC that can handle everyday tasks plus some gaming. I'd appreciate any help/advice you can give. Thanks! Best way to convert blower GPU to open-air GPU? Posted: 14 Jun 2021 08:48 AM PDT I have blower style 1080 (Aero) that likes to run hot. I've replaced pads on it and have redone paste a couple times and it's fine if it's a little cooler in the room. As soon as it gets a little warmer, that beast goes to 85 degrees Celsius under full load. I understand those cards are designed to operate at higher temps, but I'd prefer it running high 60s at most. So I'm thinking about replacing the blower frame with an open-air fan heatsink setup. I see Arctic has a couple nice VGA cooler options for this but all I find available for this is $100 or more (which is a bit steep and likely a bit overkill for a 1080). Have you done this or considered doing something like this? If so, any recommendations? [link] [comments]
A decision on GPU and CPU needs to be made! Posted: 14 Jun 2021 10:08 AM PDT Hey guys. i need help deciding on a GPU and CPU. First I am not quite sure about the CPU. I think I should get a ryzen 5 5600X but what about a ryzen 7 3800X. Moneywise it is nearly the same. What should I do? What are pros and cons? Then grafics. I know shortage is a pain and right now it´s pretty much the worst time to buy. I was thinking about an rtx 2060 or rtx 3060. But thats crazy i think because $$$. Do you guys think it would be a good idea to take a 1660 super (for example) and wait for at least(!) 1-2 years until shortage is over and demand is on a normal level. Or even maybe go down to a 1660 or 1650? But even then i would pay so much for a 2-3 year old GPU that its hurts. Right now I am using a shitty Laptop so almost anything would be an upgrade to what I have now. In recent years I missed out on pretty much every game that needs some GPU power and I need to catch up on those AND be set for upcoming games to play new games on a (at least) decent level. But considering how much I am going to be paying, it should be the golden middle between cost and power. This is what i had in mind until now. Comments on that are welcome, too. be quiet! Pure Base 500 Thanks! [link] [comments]

Provide any additional details you wish below. IMPORTANT: So right now these are all the parts I have (the ones in the build above), my plan currently is to keep scouting out for an msrp 3080 and return the 3080ti within the refund window if possible. I may also not have the storages listed on there (if curious I might just leave them in my old rig and send them to my office), or might only have the HDD so will need recommendations (idk much about this m.2 form factor shit that's been all the rage these days) Thank you!
