You should know that Aida64 lets you build a custom hardware monitor for little Hardware Stats display or 2nd monitor

    Posted: 02 Apr 2021 10:24 AM PDT

After watching Jayz2cents video about this I decided to give it a shot. I bought a 7in raspberry pi screen off of Amazon, mounted it to a piece of plywood and went at it in the Aida64 Sensor Panel application.

    Results: https://imgur.com/a/VCzvbGY

If you want to copy cat mine.

    Link to file: https://file.io/15u4ArdJfP79

You need to install Aida64. Go into preferences and enable sensor panel. Then right click on the sensor panel, open "sensor panel manager" and import that file. Your screen will need to be 1024 x 600 resolution to fit this correctly, but you could also just leave it running on an 2nd monitor too. You need to run RivaTuner SS for the FPS counter to work.

Then just right click on the elements you want to change like the 'i9 10850k' label and type in what your CPU is.

This is the screen I bought: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07Y889J3X/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I just cut a piece of plywood slightly bigger than the display, mounted some shelf brackets on the back, drilled holes for the standoffs and mounted the screen onto the standoffs.

    Jayz2Cents did a video on it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTdniu3gn3Y

The one thing Phil doesn't mention in the otherwise fantastic video is that configuring the Sensor Panel takes a loooonnnggg time. I spent 4-5 hours on this layout and could've sunk many more hours if I didn't decide "good enough".

Can't install Windows 10 on Samsung 980 Pro

    Posted: 02 Apr 2021 11:16 AM PDT

I want to replace my 860 Evo (current OS drive) with a brand new 980 Pro Nvme m.2.
I formatted the nvme with a windows tool: NTFS, no partition and gpt. Now when i boot with my usb windows boot stick i am not able to choose my nvme as installation destination, because it says i can't install it because of gpt.
I tried to change it to mbr, but after formatting it was still gpt.
I don't understand, why gpt doesn't work on this brand new drive. On my old 860 Evo gpt works just fine. Can anyone help me installing windows? I need my old os drive for my son. We want to build his pc tomorrow!
    Thanks guys!!!
EDIT: PC specs: Mobo Asrock b550 extreme4, Ryzen 5600x Cpu, Asus Tuf Gaming 3080, 4x8 GB Ram

Is it worth it to upgrade from a 1660 super to a 3060?

My evga queue just came up and I have the option to get the 3060 for $416 total after shipping. Is it worth it to upgrade and then sell my 1660 super or should I keep waiting until I can get my hands on a 3060 ti?

3 120mm fans on top bracket?

    Posted: 02 Apr 2021 02:43 PM PDT

My fractal define 7 compact claims I can mount 3 120mm exhaust fans at the top of my case. There is a bracket I can pull off to make the fan install easy, but I don't see how I can fit 3 120mm fans here.

    See pic: https://i.imgur.com/3gOs8Yx.jpg

Any ideas on how to make three fans work here?

    Keyboard Recommendations

    Posted: 02 Apr 2021 08:43 AM PDT

I currently have the Logitech g810 but it has recently been having problems with keys double hitting or not working at all. After Logitech support to me to f off pretty much because I got this as a gift so they don't know when the warranty would be over. I'm looking for something with a similar form factor. I don't need all the extra media keys but do like the number pad. I have only owned Logitech but after dealing with their support I was to get a different brand. thank you any input.

    Budget Mini Itx Build

    Posted: 02 Apr 2021 12:48 PM PDT

    Hello!

I really want to try out building a mini itx pc for portability pourposes, the problem is i don't really know the best way to approach a itx build. I'm trying to not break the bank but i realize that it might be a tad bit more expensive than building a normal ATX pc. The only real reqs is that it should be able to run basic e-sport titles at 1080p 60hz.

I know about the gpu shortage so i was wondering how the integrated grahpics perform nowadays, would that be a viable solution?

    Thanks in advance!

    Ram Clearance with 280mm Rad

    Posted: 02 Apr 2021 11:45 AM PDT

I'm looking into top mounting a 280mm H115i Elite Capellix AIO to put in a Corsair 4000D. I'm getting 32gb G Skill Trident Z Neo for ram on the ASUS ROG Strix Z590-E motherboard. I've heard that ram clearance can get tight with top mounting a 280mm aio in the 4000D. Any help on figuring this out?

Can't fix the "Over Current have been detected on your USB device!" error.

    Posted: 02 Apr 2021 11:40 AM PDT

My PC just randomly started to display this error message after booting it this morning. I have tried a few troubleshooting options but only a handful worked only once or twice before displaying the same message again. My PC is around ~1 month old, so it is hard to determine if it is a build error or a motherboard error.

Here are my GPU, CPU, and motherboard respectively: RTX 3060, AMD Ryzen 5600X, MSI B550-A Pro.

The back USB ports are being used by a Razer DeathAdder mouse, a Logitech keyboard, a 2i2 Scarlett Pro, and my monitor.

The front USB ports are unused.

The front USB cable is connected to JUSB3. A Wifi5/Bluetooth adapter is connected to JUSB1.

Here is what I tried so far after unplugging the PC and opening the side panel:

    1. Clean out dust (Didn't work)
    2. Unplug the back USB ports only (Didn't work)
    3. Unplug the front USB cable only (worked 6 times before returning back to the usual state)
    4. Unplug both the back USB ports, front USB cable, and Wifi adapter (worked once)
    5. Unplug and plug everything back in, including 2 flash drives into the front USB ports (worked twice)
    6. Unplug everything and try each device separately (didn't work)

I considered updating the BIOS but it is already up to date. All pins also seem to be straight and unbroken.

What is the next course of action? Are there any other steps I can take? I would like to try any other methods before swapping the motherboard (swapping the MOBO is the worst-case scenario)

Update: I tried to look at some BIOS settings with a USB but I cannot find my SSD in the "Boot Priority" options. The problem may be with my motherboard and not the USB ports.

Update2: Somehow managed to run a bootable Arch ISO with the front USB panel. Once it started running it kept displaying "usb usb1-port6: over-current condition". I assumed this is my JUSB1 slot but unplugging it doesn't seem to work.

    9700k vs 8700k

    Posted: 02 Apr 2021 11:40 AM PDT

How is that possible that the 9700k is much way faster in games than the 8700k? I had to change it for a cheap cause the 8700k was bottlenecking mine 3080 so bad the gpu usage was barely at 60-70% But then with the 9700k it went up to 90% it could be cause of 8 cores vs 6 or what? Just I am curious Thank you

Need advice on getting a GPU for a hefty build. 3090? AMD Card?

    Posted: 02 Apr 2021 01:02 PM PDT

    Hey all,

Within the year I'm planning to upgrade to a new computer. I currently have a 2080 Super, and I9-9900K. I'm well aware that these pieces of hardware are still pretty powerful tools at the moment. But I'm sorta obsessed with power, my current PC also doesn't have an SSD which will be something I want in the next one. I'm already planning on switching over to AMD processors, heard enough good things about them. What I was just wondering is what graphics card would you all recommend I get for this beast. Some important things to note:

-I'm willing to piss money away on this thing, I'm prepared to pay 3-6k on this machine. I'm talking and extra 20 frames for 600 bucks added on.

-Fast machine make me go BRRR. I want something that kicks out some real juice.

-I screw around with creative programs. I use mostly photoshop, but I also dabble with the Adobe suite, CSP, and maybe Blender aswell. Would love to see some small render times.

-I currently use 1080p 144hz monitors, but I also plan to get a high refresh rate 4k monitor as well.

-I'm not a cryptoguy, I'm not looking to burn this machine out for a few bucks.

Just wanted to see what you guys would suggest. Are AMD cards really up to snuff with the 30 series? Is a 3090 really worth the extra grand for a few more frames? (I don't really plan on doing 8k gaming) Is NVIDIA putting out any new cards with the next 12 months? Should I even bat an eye at those Intel cards?

Replaced CPU, now Monitor/Mouse/Keyboard Will Not Work

    Posted: 02 Apr 2021 06:21 AM PDT

    Hello,

I appear to be having an issue with my PC where the Monitor displays "no signal" and my mouse won't light up. I also noticed that the blue light that is supposed to turn on the tower is not lighting up either.

    My specs are:

CPU change from Ryzen 5 3600 to Ryzen 5 5600

EVGA Nvidia 2060 Ko Ultra Graphics Card

    B450 Tomahawk Motherboard

    2x Ripjaw G.Skill DDR4 8 gig sticks of ram

    750 Watt Bronze EVGA

1 Terabyte Professional inland SSD 2.5"

I will include all the steps I did already:

I replaced the fan and cpu, and noticed the Monitor wasn't getting a signal. I switched around the RAM sticks - nothing I reset the CMOS battery for a few minutes - nothing I cleaned the CPU using Isopropyl alcohol - nothing I cleaned the RAM sticks - nothing I returned the old CPU - success! I put the new CPU back in - nothing I replaced it with the old CPU again - nothing (uh oh)

So now I'm stuck. It must be from the CPU or something right?

    Thanks in advance.

Can someone explain all the different types of 3080s?

    Posted: 02 Apr 2021 06:41 AM PDT

I'm very new to the pc gaming scene build wise. I've had a pre built for the past 5 years and I'm now looking to build my first one.

With that being said what is the difference between all of the different Nvidia 3080s? The price ranges differ from 699-899. Are they all the same thing? What makes one more money then the other ?

    Any help is appreciated.

Unclear connections of cables from case to motherboard (Supermicro X11DPL-i)

    Posted: 02 Apr 2021 02:48 PM PDT

I recently purchased a motherboard (Supermicro X11DPL-i) for a new workstation. The assembly is almost finalized except some cable connections from the case (Carbide 678C) to the motherboard.

I checked the manual of the motherboard and the case, but I cannot find sufficient information on where to connect some of the cables coming from the PC case. The connectors I could not figure out where to attach on the motherboard are outlined in red in this figure: https://pasteboard.co/JVwrTSI.png. The figure is copied from the Carbide manual.

Does anyone use the same combination (Supermicro X11DPL-i with the Carbide case) or have an idea on how I could proceed with these connections?

    I appreciate your input!

Do you need to buy a separate cpu cooler for the 5600x or can you just use the one you get in the box?

I'm not planning on overclocking anything in my PC. I will be playing games in 1440p with a rtx 3070. My question is whether or not the cpu cooler that comes with the 5600x is going to work fine or if I need to buy a better one (such as the bequiet 4 pro) ?

    Gaming PC fps problem

    Posted: 02 Apr 2021 02:43 PM PDT

I have a gaming pc and my fps has been lower than it should be and I don't know how to fix the problem.

    specs:

GPU - MSI GEFORCE RTX 2060 super

    CPU - AMD RYZEN 7 3700x

Motherboard - ROG STRIX B450-f GAMING

    RAM - CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4 3600

    Power supply - Thermaltake 700W

    Monitor - 27 CRGF gaming monitor 240Hz

I asked one of my friends who has a 2060 and a lower model CPU than me how much fps he gets in the game and he was getting better fps than I was which didn't make sense because I have better specs than him. I optimized my Nvidia control panel so I could get the best frames possible. I also checked multiple websites saying that in certain games I should be running over 200fps when I was not. Can someone please hep me fix my fps problem. Thank you.

I have a few "simple" questions What brands are recommend? Are pre-builts really that bad? I see alot of hate towards them. I'm wanting to play MMOs, ESO (elder scrolls online) specifically but will try them all. Do you have to build special for that? What a good price point for a build? Thanks for any and all advice

In a Dilemma! PC TEMPS Need Help ASAP

    Posted: 02 Apr 2021 02:34 PM PDT

PC overheats while in (Balanced) or (High) power mode settings from the Control Panel but Temps are completely fine when I put it in Power Save Mode , the problem with this is Power Save Mode doesn't allow my PC to run fast enough to game how I would please so I would need to use (BALANCED) but that increases temps drastically as well leading to overheating and a shutdown even in (Balanced) mode not (HIGH). I've read that Power Save Mode settings or options should not increase or decrease Temp this dramatically but trust me it does I've been working on this problem for 2 days straight I have tested so many little factors and this is for sure a issue. I'm currently not doing any over clocking or anything like that just need some simple tips or suggestions really new to this whole PC stuff

CPU- AMD FX-4130 3.8 GHz GPU- Nvidia GeForce 730 Ram:8gb
