1440p 144/165hz really better than 1080p 165hz? Is it really worth it for gaming? Posted: 22 Dec 2020 08:36 AM PST I currently have Asus 1080p 165hz gsync compatible monitor. Im looking into Asus VG27AQ 1440p 165hz. Is it really noticible difference in gaming? I just want stable 70+ fps and good pictures in game. Pairing it with 3070 ans 3700X. Thanks [link] [comments] |
Posted: 22 Dec 2020 08:08 AM PST I have two daughters. One is into computers, the other is more into clothes and things. My wife and I have spent roughly the same amount on them this Christmas, but due to the costs associated with building a new PC and the fact that it will be built before Christmas, there is a huge discrepancy in the number of gifts they will be receiving. To alleviate some of this, I came up with an idea to stretch out the number of wrapped gifts that the PC receiver will get: I wrapped the empty box of each individual component, to be given one at a time culminating with the box that contains the case, which now contains a complete PC. I hope this helps someone as it took me some time to figure out. Happy holidays everyone. [link] [comments] |
Best 27" G-SYNC Compatible 1440p 144Hz IPS 1ms Monitor Under £500? Posted: 22 Dec 2020 02:58 AM PST I've been looking around for a monitor that is capable of all the above for under £500. I recently purchased an RTX 3070 as it's the sweetspot for 2560x1440 gaming. I'm looking to replace my BenQ 27" 1920x1080 60Hz monitor for something that's better and will give an overall better gaming experience. So far I've found the LG 27GL850-B which is in my budget and has everything I'm looking for, but I'm always put off by the negative reviews so was wondering if there's anything else that is worth looking at. First build in 13 years, man it feels good to be back! Posted: 22 Dec 2020 06:38 AM PST So happy to be back in the master race. Been on Mac's and PlayStation since my last build in 2008 with an Intel e8400 and GTX 280. This build is to play Warzone primarily, and anything else I want!! So stoked with the machine so far. I'm using an old aio my buddy gave me at the moment, but planning a custom loop for the CPU. Can't wait! [link] [comments] |
In your opinion, what is something that you believe is tacky in a PC build? Posted: 22 Dec 2020 07:25 AM PST For me it's when I see exposed LED strips in a PC build. My thought is, if you don't have the space to his them, then don't get them. [link] [comments] |
I just managed to get a 5600x and a 3070 for my first ever build! Posted: 22 Dec 2020 11:37 AM PST I can't wait to get all the parts but I am also a little nervous for the build. Are there any extra build tips that any of you have? Is there anything I need to watch out for with the parts that I got? Also, I know that I will have to do a bios flash to get it work with the 5600x and I am especially nervous for that. Does anyone have any tips for doing a bios flash? Here is my parts list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/QxF6NP Also, thank you to everyone in the pc building community for being super helpful and helping me to pick out all of the parts! Posted: 22 Dec 2020 09:37 AM PST My problems with the Seagate Barracuda continue. Now it's making this scratching sound; the sound in question, turn volume all the way up I still have the bill so if I have to send it back I still can Edit: I unplugged the SATA and power and plugged it back in (while the system was still on) and now the sound stopped. I ran a program from the Barracuda and it made the usual HDD sounds. I might still replace it at Best Buy just to be safe though. [link] [comments] |
I'm about to build a PC for 5800x & RTX 3080 Posted: 22 Dec 2020 06:16 AM PST EDIT 1: locked into 5900x cpu EDIT 2: Considering Asus ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING EDIT 3: Can't decide yet on RAM (C18 T-Force Xtreem or C16 G.Skill TridentZ Neo) - Hello people, how you been! So, let me go straight into details about my "build-a-pc" case... Right now I'm using this rig: MOBO: TUF x470-PLUS Gaming CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600x (Stock Cooling) RAM: HyperX Predator 16GB DDR4-3200MHz (2x8) GPU: MSI GeForce RTX 2070 8GB Armor SSD: Samsung 860 EVO (2x1TB) HDD: Seagate Barracuda (1x1TB) Extras: Elgato 4K Pro PSU: Can't remember that one, but I think I'm using a 750w Case: NZXT H700i First of all, I'm sorry if I did some stupid choices with my current build. I build it by following some advice from a friend, since I'm understanding hardware as much as an average guy. I wasn't into searching a lot about it and was in huge need of a such gaming (1440p)/editing PC back then. I work for tv programs/documentaries/etc (external partnership most of the times, so I edit on my PC a lot). It's been like few years... but now I'm into building a new one and I need any help I can get. Did a bit of homework but still I can't understand a lot, so here are the parts I'm currently thinking to buy: MOBO: Asus ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5900x (w/ Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360) RAM: G.Skill TridentZ Neo 32GB DDR4-3600MHz (eventually 64GB) GPU: Nvidia RTX 3080 (dunno the variant yet / so far, prices in my country are based on scalpers) SSD: Samsung 860 EVO (2x1TB - Won't upgrade soon, but I'm probably going for an m2 as main) HDD: Seagate Barracuda (1x1TB - need to find a costless way to increase since raw work files are huge) Extras: Elgato 4K Pro (Keeping it) PSU: Corsair PSU HXi 1000w 80+ Platinum (Not willing to cheat on PSU - Though, I can do 270~300) Case: NZXT H700i (Keeping it - It's white, which goes with my Black/White room :v and I'm not willing to pay extra money for a new case, at this moment) First parts I'm buying are probably PSU (1000w cost the same as the 850w) & RAM and eventually going for CPU Cooling, MOBO. Then, I'm going into buying CPU (maybe 'till mid-February) and when GPU prices go normal (I hope 'till April, prices are fixated), I'll pick a RTX 3080 based on benches. Regarding the budget, it's not just a fixed budget. I have a particular budget in my mind for each individual part, that I'm willing to pay. [All prices are based in my country's pricing /euro currency] MOBO: Willing to pay up to 350 (270~350) CPU: Well, I think 500~650 for one of those CPUs is ok and AIO will cost me about ~100 RAM: I think ~100 per 16GB is kind of ok?GPU: Fuck scalpersPSU: Up to ~300 Any input and advice will be extremely appreciated. Thank you all in advantage for putting time into helping me! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 22 Dec 2020 12:45 PM PST I'm gonna upgrade my cpu + mobo soon for Christmas, but I don't know whether the 5600x would be worth it for 1440p. [link] [comments] |
Strix B550 still have faulty LAN chip? Posted: 22 Dec 2020 05:15 AM PST I want a solid motherboard and have been looking at the Strix B550 for my 5900x but am wondering if it still has the faulty LAN chip? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 22 Dec 2020 08:11 AM PST Hey everyone! So I built a pc about a month ago and I've had constant issues with crashing while under load. I thought it was thermals so I locked my cpu voltage to 1.25 volts, and even bought a new cooler. My temps under load are around 70 C which isn't enough for a crash so what other issues could make a pc crash? Thank you!! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 22 Dec 2020 02:40 AM PST I have a radeon rx 480 8gb and an I5 7600 3.8ghz 4 cores, 16 gb ram. I mean I know it's not the best setup at the moment, three years ago it was fire. But still I find it very weird that all the other games I played to this point were running smooth, from this year and last, deathstranding steady fps, Doom eternal on high is working fine, Sekiro on ultra. Cyberpunk is running poorly, I know the game is not well optimized but I also know it runs much smoother on other machines. What do I need to get? A better graphics card? Or everything? limited storage: 500 GB; Do I WIN10 Pro or WIN10 Home? Posted: 22 Dec 2020 10:41 AM PST Is it true that the installed size of WIN10 PRO is exactly the same as WIN10 HOME? In all honesty, I find it hard to believe especially with all those features that WIN10 PRO has but WIN10 HOME don't. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 22 Dec 2020 10:40 AM PST I have 6 Corsair SP120 RGB PRO DC fans. If I were to buy the splitter below would I still be able to control the fan speed of these fans in the BIOS or would the fans on the splitter be running at 100%. https://www.overclockers.co.uk/ek-water-blocks-ek-cable-y-splitter-3-fan-10cm-wc-9ak-ek.html [link] [comments] |
Posted: 22 Dec 2020 11:01 AM PST I'm running a i7-3770k and 970 currently. Build is like 5-6 years old now. Due to GPU shortages and my hesitancy to wait and build a PC again on my own, I bought this pre-built from BB for $1,350. CyberPowerPC Gamer Supreme Gaming Desktop AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 16GB Memory NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 1TB SSD White SLC8600BST - Best Buy Based on partpicker, it's pretty good value although last gen Ryzen, Apevia 800w PSU, etc... Now that I scored a 3080, I'm wondering if I should just switch out the GPU and sell the 3070 so the total cost of the PC would be around $1,600 before tax which is good for a 3080 build. However, I'm worried about warranty if there is an issue with the PC during the warranty period. I'm not opposed to building a new PC and don't care about RGB lights, but don't have $$$ to drop on a super high end build so looking for a build similar in cost to the BB Cyberpower. Is it worth it to build a PC around the 3080 or should I just keep the prebuilt? The builds I've checked on pcpartpicker all tend to be $2,000. Help me out reddit gurus! [link] [comments] |
What is wrong with my newly installed SSD? Posted: 22 Dec 2020 08:37 AM PST Hi all I've just received my new SSD (Samsung 970 EVO Plus). My current build is based on a HDD (where my system is currently installed and a rather weak SSD - For more detail: However, I haven't been able to make use of my newly installed SSD yet, and I'm really wondering why. I can't even access it anywhere. I downloaded Samsung Magician, but it cant find the drive (as shown in the picture). The only place i can confirm that the SSD actually is in my pc, is in System > Storage > Manage Storage Spaces > Physical drives > Samsung SSD... I'm assured, that I have installed the newest drivers, but I just can't seem to get it working. When I try to change the storage space in some way, it just tells me:
What could I possibly have done wrong, since it's not working? Thanks in advance! Edit: Images are not allowed on this sub, I will post them somewhere else Edit 2: Here's the pictures! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 22 Dec 2020 08:36 AM PST I would like to buy a 10700K or KF however I'm not entirely sure if the KF version (= without iGPU) hinders my PC's performance. My GPU will be my bottleneck in games (I've got a 1660Super) and I don't want to strain it extra. Does the iGPU do anything in windows or can I save the 15 euros on a KF version? [link] [comments] |
I want to build my first pc, which parts should I use? Posted: 22 Dec 2020 10:51 AM PST I want to build something cheap but still can run some games like csgo, I want to build a cheap pc first so I know what I'm doing for my next build and so if anything breaks it's not so expensive. Posted: 22 Dec 2020 10:40 AM PST Recently I was browsing for 16 series cards, and I noticed there seems to be an absence of the 1650/1660 Ti/Super and etc founders edition cards. Not have I found any on their site or on amazon, but I've seen a photo of one that looks similar to the 10 series cards. Are they a thing, or am I going crazy? [link] [comments] |
Im building my own pc, are these parts I picked good for it's price? Posted: 22 Dec 2020 09:43 AM PST Hi all, I want to build my own pc. I did some research and according to my research these parts are the best I can get in that price. CPU = Intel Core i3-10100 3.6 GHz Quad-Core Processor Motherboard = Gigabyte B460M DS3H Micro ATX LGA1200 Motherboard RAM = Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory Ssd = Samsung 860 Evo 500 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive Graphics card = MSI GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER 4 GB GAMING X Video Card Case = Zalman Z9 ATX Mid Tower Case (this is case i already have, from pc that stopped working so will reuse it since its under desk hidden anyway) Power supply = Corsair TXM Gold 550 W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply =total cost would be about £500 which is pretty affordable for me, I don't want to spend more than this as I don't play games that often, but when I do I would like to play it in high settings, for example battlefield 1 or 4, or GTA V. Will This setup run it high/ultra, are there any parts I could get better? Thank you! [link] [comments] |
CPU overheating and causing BSOD - replace cooler or both? Posted: 22 Dec 2020 04:46 AM PST Hello I was recently getting blue screens as soon as I switched on my PC and couldn't figure out what was causing it. I left the PC in to a repairs store and they said it was likely due to a problem with the cooler causing the CPU (intel i7 7700k) to overheat and are suggesting to replace the CPU and cooler. Should I just take the PC back and try replacing the cooler myself first to see if that works first? Any advice would be much appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 22 Dec 2020 12:37 PM PST Figured I'd jump on the wagon of posting the build I did for my kid. He won't see it until Christmas eve (primary residence is with mom). But I built it for him this week after he left. [link] [comments] |
Is there ANY reason to upgrade to B550 or X570? Posted: 22 Dec 2020 11:08 AM PST At this point, my family already has a B450 and a X470 (MSI ProVDH and ASRock Fatal1ty respectively) if the plan is to bump up from Ryzen 1600 and 2600 to Ryzen 5800, is there any real reason to swap in a 500 series motherboard? And I'm asking specifically if there are any big features or real-world performance enhancements that I'm going to miss out on. It doesn't look like Ryzen 6000 is going to be on socket AM4. SAM at the moment, shows like maybe a 1-2% improvement. Am I missing anything? Should I just get my R7 5800 (in like Febuary when all of this supply malarkey dies down) and wait for socket AM5 before a major overhaul? [link] [comments] |
