Building a PC for my grandmother - explicitly for Microsoft Flight Simulator. No experience. Posted: 05 Aug 2020 07:04 AM PDT My grandmother has been a pilot all her life and now she's really old and because of various conditions that comes with being old, she's not allowed to pilot a plane anymore. She talks pretty much every day about how much she misses it so I thought I'd help her get as close as it gets with the new sim that MS is releasing. So, what should be my main focuses? Is it possible to just hook up a GPU to a monitor basically or? I know it will be bandwidth heavy but she's already on a 1gb/sec line because Sweden. It needs to have USB ports because I will get her all the sticks and gas pedals etc. Money isn't really an issue but I don't want to go overboard either. Thanks for all tips and assistance. What is the worst thing that has happened to you during a pc build Posted: 05 Aug 2020 05:13 AM PDT I want to build a pc but first I really need to know if all these horror stories I hear about fragile parts and death from static are true. [link] [comments]
Building a PC for my dad, need advice Posted: 05 Aug 2020 06:38 AM PDT Hello everyone, My dad's PC died a couple of days ago and I want to build him a new one. He only needs it to browse, watch movies, email and the occasional game at 1080p. The budget that we have is 900 euros or about 1000 US dollars. The setup that I have in mind is: https://nl.pcpartpicker.com/list/63ytvW Are there any things that can be improved or do you have another setup in mind? Thanks all [link] [comments]

Are there any RGB case fans that don’t need a motherboard pin to work? Posted: 05 Aug 2020 12:08 PM PDT Hey guys I really don't know much about this but I know that my motherboard does not have any RGB pins. I want to buy like a pack of 3 RGB case fans for my computer but are there any that don't need a motherboard pin? I heard of rgb case fans that come with a controller and remote do those not need a motherboard pin? I've seen some $40 3-pack rgb case fans on amazon that come with a controller and was considering buying one but I need a little bit more information before I do [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Aug 2020 01:16 PM PDT I've come here with a lot of questions as I'm building my first ever PC. I've had a lot of people help me along the way with ethernet, motherboards and much more but there seems to be something every week that I haven't ever seen This week that special thing is: DirectX I've been looking at some game to purchase and looking at the requirements, making sure I have the ability to play them smoothly (and so far so good) but I keep seeing something called 'DirectX' I looked it up and it seems to be a program that just helps out rendering. but other than that information I'm confused on the versions like DirectX 11 or DirectX 12 etc. I'm looking at Squad and it says that it requires DirectX 11 and I would like not know what the differences are and if this will cost me another $100 that I'm going to have to pull out of my ass. Posted: 05 Aug 2020 06:51 AM PDT I am going to build a ryzen based system ina few months with an r5 3600 and RTX 2060 super with an MSI b550 motherboard. How do I set up dual boot for Windows 10 and Solus 2020. How do I set them both up to run in dual boot. My chair just gave out and dumped me on the floor. What is /r/buildapc sitting on? Posted: 04 Aug 2020 11:20 PM PDT I used to have a "gaming" chair that was pretty comfortable, but i had to move recently and couldn't take it with me. It was torn up anyway. I ended up using a foldable fabric lounge chair at my new place, and it worked for a few months before snapping 10 minutes ago and gently introducing me to the floor. It was pretty comfortable not gonna lie, but I'm now sitting on a foot stool desperately googling chairs as my back begins to cry. I have a budget of $250 - really can't go over that right now, unless there is a really good deal right at this moment. I see a lot of "Get a cheap used aeron/leap/other nice office chairs they can be found under 200" etc, but I can't rely on waiting to find a good used deal as I need something pretty quick. Checking the local buy/sells didn't yield anything unfortunately. I'm 6'2" - 200lbs and looking at:
Note: I'll spend 8+ hours daily in the chair between my job and gaming, and a recline that can hold my fat ass for a lot of that time is a must. My back and I thank you in advance for your help! [link] [comments]
Have to turn on PC twice to boot to desktop and chrome takes forever to open Posted: 05 Aug 2020 06:07 AM PDT Hello! I just freshly build this PC and everything went smooth other than two things, when I boot the PC from powered off it gets to the post screen, flashes black, and then powers off, after I press the power again it will boot all the way to the desktop just fine. I've been troubleshooting for some time and I just can't figure it out. One minor problem as well, when I initially open chrome it takes around 7-8 seconds to open up, It doesn't seem like an internet problem as I am getting 300 mb/s down and around 200 up. Specs: I7 9700k, ASUS Rog Strix z-390 gaming, 16gb 3200 mhz g.skill Trident z, Gigabyte 2070 SUPER, Corsair 750 Gold PSU, 512 Samsung 970 Evo plus, 1tb samsung 860 evo https://gfycat.com/disgustingunsteadyhen video of the problem Thanks! I'm really interested in getting into Microsoft Flight Simulator, but I don't know where to start. Posted: 05 Aug 2020 09:29 AM PDT CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 GPU: ROG Strix 2070S Advanced I've recently started to look into the incoming Microsoft Flight Sim, and I am interested in trying it out. I have really admired planes since I was a wee lad, although its not what I choose for a career, this will be the closest I will ever get to piloting one. I don't have much of a budget to buy a full on set-up. Where would be a good starting point for me to just be able to hop in and really enjoy the game for what it is? I do intend to purchase the Premium Edition, I really want to fly that Dreamliner... [link] [comments]

Long boot time after upgrading to 3700X Posted: 05 Aug 2020 04:43 AM PDT Hi, I'm not sure if this is the correct subreddit since I have always been a silent reader on reddit. As per title, I'm having an issue with my PC. After upgrading to 3700X from the 2700X, my system have been experiencing a very long boot time. We'll talking about 8-10minutes of boot time. It will just show the blue Windows 10 logo with black background and spinning dots going around in circles. I have done all the stress test on the 3700x and found it to be perfectly stable. Oh and I've also installed a new 1TB hard disk into my system? Could that also be the problem? Nevertheless, I have also choose my boot ssd as the only boot priorities also resulted in the same long boot time. Updated the AMD chipset driver, same result. The mobo is a X370 chipset. Also couldn't initiate Ryzen Master software, not sure what's the culprit here. Reset cmos settings, still same. Disabled SVM mode in the bios (Since I've read that a user are experiencing long boot times due to SVM mode enabled), still yield the same result. Never had any problem with my 2700X prior to upgrading to my current 3700x. Would appreciate any help that I can get. My system Mobo: Asrock X370 Killer Sli (Latest BIOS P5.80) CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X (Previous CPU was Ryzen 7 2700X) Cooler: BeQuiet Dark Rock Pro 4 Ram: Kingston HyperX Fury RGB 3200mhz (2x8Gb) GPU: Zotac GTX 1080 Ti Amp Extreme Core Edition PSU: Adata XPG Core Reactor 650w 80+ Gold 650W SSD: Sandisk 240GB (Main boot drive) HDD: 1TB WD Blue Other HDD: Seagate Barracuda (Newly installed in the system together with the 3700X) [link] [comments]
why does it feel like every computer case is trying to look the same? Posted: 05 Aug 2020 06:02 AM PDT I want a computer case that fits different interior design styles, if I want something more mid-century modern, perhaps more Scandinavian, Things, like google home, have produced a product that is not too loud, and can blend into a house, not show off every glowing component that I placed inside of it. thermaltake commander fp hub for PWM fans : which cables included ? Posted: 05 Aug 2020 04:35 AM PDT Hi, i purchased the item in the title, but it only comes with the PWM signal cable and not the SATA molex connector. Is this normal ? If so, do i need to purchase the latter cable ? [link] [comments]

Posted: 05 Aug 2020 08:21 AM PDT Hey guys, so I've been doing some research and put this build together on Pcpartpicker. Just wondering if I could get some feedback. I mainly want to use this for school work and running some bigger engineering programs such as AutoCad and other 3D softwares. But I also want to game but I don't think it should be anything TOO intense. Any way I could make it cheaper without losing performance? Or are there any parts that I could upgrade? Is the graphics card good for the price? And feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance [link] [comments]
Black border around pc monitor. Posted: 05 Aug 2020 09:16 AM PDT Hey all, just received a new monitor and new gpu and all is well except I have a maybe quarter inch black border around my whole display. My gpu is a 1660 6gb and my monitor is 24in 144hrz with display port connected. When I go into nvidia controls to resize scaling it's already set to 1080 and does not allow me to make it larger. Any ideas? [link] [comments]
$1000, for 1080p gaming, no intent on going past 60fps. Posted: 05 Aug 2020 11:54 AM PDT What is your intended use for this build? The more details the better. Mainly wanting it for PC gaming, 1080p, I dont really care to go past 60fps. Want to be able to play most things but going to extreme settings isnt a must. Just want something nice, stress free, that'll last a good long while. I havent done anything PC building wise in over a decade so am hyper paranoid about the whole process. What is your budget (ballpark is okay)? 1kish In what country are you purchasing your parts? US Post a draft of your potential build here (specific parts please). Consider formatting your parts list. Don't ask to be spoonfed a build (read the rules!).
Provide any additional details you wish below. I posted something like this a few months ago, but couldn't get any mobo's at the time and... well I kinda got panicy and didnt buy. I have, extreme anxiety problems when it comes to money. [link] [comments]

Posted: 05 Aug 2020 01:51 PM PDT Hello, Looking to get the most capable "gaming" pc possible for $400 for my niece. I already own all the peripherals (mouse, keyboard, monitor) so the budget would go to the pc hardware exclusively. Based in USA. Thanks so much for your time and help beforehand. Budget gaming build for 1080p 144Hz Posted: 05 Aug 2020 01:41 PM PDT Hi guys, I'm building a PC for my 13yo cousin and am trying to decide between Intel or AMD (likely i5 10400 or Ryzen 5 3600). He plays Warzone and Fortnite currently (on PS4). The parts I have already are: Asus Strix 1070 gpu, 16gb Corsair LPX 3200 ram, Corsair AX760 psu, 500gb Samsung 860 evo ssd, Noctua NH-U12A cpu cooler and Lian Li Lancool II Mesh case. I've always built with Intel but I'm wondering if Ryzen would be better for him? Also not sure on the motherboard choice.. It seems for intel you'd need to get a z490 to make it worthwhile (ram speeds and future upgradability). I'm not really sure what the difference is between X570 or B550 either as they seem to be priced similarly. I can get the ASUS TUF x570-plus (wifi) board reasonably cheap which I've heard is decent. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks [link] [comments]
For my 70yo uncle I would like to build a video editing PC Posted: 05 Aug 2020 11:26 AM PDT Hi guys, my uncle is OBSESSED with photography and video editing, it's his entire life. He works on a crusty old computer (think sleeper build cases) that runs windows 95. I really want him to have a high end PC that he can use effectively. Video editing takes him hours and hours, and its incredibly limiting for him. I have a budget between £500-£750. If you can help me it would be greatly appreciated [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Aug 2020 01:38 PM PDT http://imgur.com/gallery/gPdcRF2 So got through all of that and now windows will not boot off usb it is the only storage connected. My only thought would be that it is not usb 3.0 i do have an ssd caddy which would allow me to put os on it through my laptop. Would that work. [link] [comments] |
