GTX 1080 ti vs RTX 2070 Super (Same Price) Posted: 08 Jul 2020 07:39 AM PDT I've been lurking local markets and the internet and found a great deal for both cards at the same price. Which one would you guys recommend if they were the same price? Thanks in advance! EDIT: Went with the 2070 Super! Thank you all for your input. [link] [comments] |
I made the mistake of introducing my GF to pc gaming... now I want my computer back Posted: 08 Jul 2020 11:17 AM PDT Hey guys, I built a new PC a couple months ago (thanks to everyone who helped then!), and I'm loving it! The problem is... so is my girlfriend... too much. I made the mistake of having her try Fortnite on my computer with kb&m instead of PS4 & controller, and now she hijacks my computer 90% of the time and I don't have the heart to force her back to the PS4 lol. So I'm trying to convince her to let me build her a rig (she doesn't want us to spend the money but yes we can afford it). Right now all she plays is Fortnite (and she's thinking about trying to start streaming), but may start up on other stuff like Warzone. I'm thinking an RTX 2060 for versatility with other games she may get into and Nvidia's streaming features. I'm looking to see if there's anywhere I can save some money or upgrade for the same. Building in the UK with access to US shipping to APO. I'll give her my 1600AF and get myself a 3600 which is another £150 Build list: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/jdant2015/saved/#view=c6J4dC Monitor: Acer Nitro VG240YPbiip 24 in 1080p 144hz IPS £150 Keyboard: PICTEK Blue Switch Mechanical Keyboard £38 Mouse: Glorious PC Gaming Race Model O £52 Gaming/office chair for about £70 Current total: £1130 [link] [comments] |

Posted: 08 Jul 2020 09:25 AM PDT This is my first custom pc build. It took a month because of being only 16 years old. But it's done and I'm proud! Specs: Case: Thermaltake S100 TG mobo: MSI B365M pro-vdh Cpu: Intel Core i5 9400 Graphics Card: Gigabyte 1050 TI ddr5 4gb RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16gb 3200 mhz(I know my motherboard doesn't support 3200 mhz, sorry I forgot to check the hertz it supports, it's locked at 2180 hertz I think.) CPU Cooler: Plain ol' LGA 1151 intel stock cooler. Power Supply: EVGA 450 BR. [link] [comments] |
Why do I need the power of Greyskull to unplug/plug the 24-pin connector onto my motherboard? Posted: 08 Jul 2020 01:32 PM PDT It has always been the case, it requires frustrating amount of force and anxiety of breaking the board to get it fully plugged. How do I remove it efficiently and easily and how do I plug it in? Any help or tips are welcome! [link] [comments] |
Overclocking help i7 with Air cooler Posted: 08 Jul 2020 07:39 AM PDT So I have a i7 3770k with a Cool Master Hyper 212 Evo. Case is limited to one fan because of the shi*** motherboard that I have with only one case fan port. I have a splitter but it is only powering the fan LED and not the fan itself. If anyone is able to recommend if it is worth overclocking or not that would be very helpful [link] [comments] |
Thanks everyone, for your suggestions. I've finally built a PC Posted: 08 Jul 2020 05:32 AM PDT As I've mentioned before, my laptop was unable to handle my current workload and it was constantly overheating. So I finally went for a PC. Here's my configuration Update: Here are the pictures Update 2: Fixed a mistake in the configuration. I'm using the 2070 Super NOT 2080 Super, sorry for the mistake. [link] [comments] |
Constructive criticism/point and laugh Posted: 08 Jul 2020 11:08 AM PDT https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/2mH3TC I'm building my first box for over 10 years, because I want to reach Beagle Point before I die. A decent rank in PUBG wouldn't come amiss either. I know the monitor is about as marginal as you can get at 1080 with Display Port, but The Management has set the initial spend, and desk space is at a premium. Be gentle [link] [comments] |

Posted: 08 Jul 2020 03:22 AM PDT So my son came to me the other day and asked to build a PC, and i said yes, i have a budget of 400 AUD, and i don't know where to find cheap parts. Please give suggestions! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Jul 2020 12:51 PM PDT When I was installing my ram, I didn't really hear it snap into place. Is that ok? [link] [comments] |
Does 60hz vs 144hz really matter if you’re not playing any fps games? Posted: 08 Jul 2020 01:24 AM PDT Bought a 60hz monitor today. Honestly I feel a bit stupid because I was wanting a 144 hz and I ordered it without realizing it was only 60hz. I heard having a higher than 60hz monitor was mostly to help in fps games, but I don't really play those types of games. I'm more interested in rpg games like RDR2, GTA, Assassins Creed, etc. Does it matter in rpg games? [link] [comments] |
Accidentally bought 3 pin fans instead of 4 pin fans. Is it worth returning them? Posted: 08 Jul 2020 10:56 AM PDT I ordered a few Noctua NF-B9's for my build at 4am, and through the grogginess I accidentally got the 3 pin version. Is it worth spending 9$ CAD extra (how much it would cost to return them and get new ones) to get the 4 pin version? Are they quieter? The 3pin NF-B9's make an annoying "hum" above 65% speed - would the PWM version not have that? My motherboard supports 3 pin fan speed control. Also, don't order pc parts when you're tired! Can I make this CPU playable again?(6years old) Posted: 08 Jul 2020 11:57 AM PDT https://www.newegg.com/asus-cm1745-us007s/p/N82E16883220218 I want to update this for my 6 year old son. We only play League of Legends, minecraft, roblox, and do some youtubing. Any part replacements going to get us there? Thank you! [link] [comments] |
Help me! CPU Cooler Fan blocking Ram slots! Posted: 08 Jul 2020 11:56 AM PDT I'm currently building my first ever PC and I've run into my first problem. After I installed my Dark Rock Pro 4 CPU cooler onto the motherboard, I couldn't put the ram in because it was too tall. I was able to take off the front fan and install the ram but would it be possible to put the ram on the other side of the cooler while not affecting airflow? Transferred into a New Case With Some Upgrades Posted: 08 Jul 2020 11:55 AM PDT Bought a prebuilt a couple years ago and knew I wanted to do a really big rebuild into a new case with new components. I replaced just about everything now and I have a lot of the posts on here to thank for it! Here it is: https://imgur.com/gallery/rgPTCTq [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Jul 2020 10:17 AM PDT Hey guys Im from the U.K. and building a pc in the above mentioned case, I've read a lot and understand that the temps can be a problem but I'm hoping to work it out. I'm planning on replacing the gpu glass side panel with the mesh panel they provide. I have a few questions, Firstly I'm opting for the r5 3600 and need to know which aio should I choose. secondly, what is the best 2080 super for this setup. Quick note should I get any extra fans, and what psu should I go for ? Thanks ! [link] [comments] |
Motherboard sparking when switching on PSU. Please help! Posted: 08 Jul 2020 02:02 PM PDT So just built my first PC and occasionally when I flip the switch on the PSU, the i/o panel on my motherboard will spark. I also have some corsair vengeance rgb pro ram installed and they will light up even when the power supply is switched off. Everything seems to be plugged in fine. Just wondering what could be causing these things to happen. Very worried my PC is gonna fry. Thank you! [link] [comments] |
Is there any point getting m.2 NVME? Posted: 08 Jul 2020 01:50 PM PDT I'm going to be building my first build later this year and I'm trying to get as much right about it first time. It's going to be used for streaming and hopefully VR. Anyway, I was wondering if there's any point in getting an m.2 NVME or if I should just stick to a regular SSD? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Jul 2020 01:49 PM PDT Probably going to start buying parts within the next couple weeks, so I want to know if everything looks decent so far. Thanks in advance! Note: Will be used as a general workstation with some light gaming. I don't plan on overclocking, and I don't need the BEST preformance possible. The GPU is already purchased. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Jul 2020 08:49 AM PDT I heard the next generation of Graphics cards and Processors(?) is around the corner, so would it be wise to build a new PC at this time, or should I wait a couple of months? [link] [comments] |
Are Micro ATX motherboards compatible with ATX cabinets? Posted: 08 Jul 2020 01:34 PM PDT I just ordered an enclosure but by accident I ordered an ATX and I'm not sure if it supports Micro ATX motherboards [link] [comments] |
