AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT Performance Meta Review: ~1510 Benchmarks compiled

    Posted: 22 Jan 2020 11:35 AM PST

    • based on the launch reviews for the AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT from January 21, 2020
    • only Full HD (1080p) performance, appr. 1510 benchmarks from 20 sources compiled
    • many factory overclocked models were used for GeForce GTX 1660 Super & 1660 Ti, though their performance effect is usually small (mostly just 1-3% difference vs. reference clocks)
    • Radeon RX 5600 XT benchmarks comes in 3 flavors: with reference clocks (some launch reviews simulated them), as Sapphire Pulse with Silent BIOS (little bit higher than reference clocks) and as Sapphire Pulse with Performance BIOS (very much higher clocks, higher memory clock, higher power-limit)
    • Radeon RX 5600 XT reference: base 1130 MHz, game 1375 MHz, boost 1560 MHz, memory 3000 MHz QDR (12 Gbps), 135 Watt power-limit
    • Sapphire Pulse RX 5600 XT @ Silent BIOS: base 1235 MHz, game 1460 MHz, boost 1620 MHz, memory 3000 MHz QDR (12 Gbps), 135 Watt power-limit
    • Sapphire Pulse RX 5600 XT @ Performance BIOS: base 1420 MHz, game 1615 MHz, boost 1750 MHz, memory 3500 MHz QDR (14 Gbps), 160 Watt power-limit
    • all benchmarks with factory overclocked cards were normalized for the performance index (of course not for the Sapphire Pulse 5600 XT)
    • the performance index ("average FHD Performance") is weighted in favor of reviews with higher number of benchmarks and use of cards on reference clocks
    • "average" stand in all cases for the geometric mean

    • the Radeon RX 5600 XT on reference clocks is some slower (-7,0%) than the GeForce RTX 2060, but some faster (+8,4) than the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti - so, nearly perfect between GeForce GTX 1660 Ti and GeForce RTX 2060
    • the Silent BIOS of the Sapphire Pulse 5600 XT is just slightly faster (+2,5%) than the Radeon RX 5600 XT on reference clocks
    • the Performance BIOS of the Sapphire Pulse 5600 XT is very much faster (+11,3%) than the Radeon RX 5600 XT on reference clocks
    • there is a relatively high performance difference between these two BIOS versions of +8,6%
    • the Performance BIOS of the Sapphire Pulse 5600 XT come close to the Radeon RX 5700, the difference is just -5,7% (or +6,1%)

The Launch of the Radeon RX 5600 XT give us interesting questions: Will there be cards on the reference clock? Because right now there is no card on such low clocks available or announced. Or will the clocks (and the performance) of the Sapphire Pulse 5600 XT (on Performance BIOS) the new "inofficial" standard for the Radeon RX 5600 XT? Because the card is available for the same $279 than the cheapest other models of the Radeon RX 5600 XT. And at last: With the Sapphire Pulse 5600 XT at $279, how this change the perception of the Radeon RX 5700 at $349? Because the Radeon RX 5700 cost +25% more and is just +6,1% faster than the Sapphire Pulse 5600 XT. Or is the higher memory size of the Radeon RX 5700 still more valuable than the better price-performance ratio of the Sapphire Pulse 5600 XT?

I don't care about RGB.. I just want quiet and good airflow and price. What's your favorite and what do you recommend? I'm leaning towards BeQuiet Silent Wings 3.
