Intel XeSS likely won't work on GPUs like the 5700XT. Posted: 24 Aug 2021 09:43 AM PDT In an recent interview, Intel Principal Engineer Karthik Vaidyanathan was asked about whether or not Intel plans to add an FP16 fallback for GPUs not capable of INT8 instruction set (DP4a) like a 5700XT. He said they were looking into it, but couldn't commit to anything which is not a good sign IMO. He also questioned if it even makes sense as it would run significantly slower than on GPUs capable of 4xINT8 like RDNA2 or Turing/Ampere, which is a fair point. https://wccftech.com/intel-xess-interview-karthik-vaidyanathan/ If you have a 5500XT however strangely enough, you'd be safe to use the DLSS competitor from Intel, as 5500XT features an upgraded Navi 1 chip with enabled iNT8 instructions. I think this makes perfect sense as INT8 is the ideal way to go for running complex neural networks like machine learning based reconstruction in real time. Though, it sure sucks for people who still use an 5700XT. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 25 Aug 2021 02:18 AM PDT Is there physical difference between these two processors? Or to ask a dumb question, if I have 5800H and limit its power draw to 15W, will it be basically the same as 5800U? [link] [comments] |
