What happened to dual-GPU graphics cards?

    Posted: 29 Aug 2020 08:46 PM PDT

I remember back in the day we had monsters like 9800GX2, GTX295 and in more recent times, GTX 690, R9295X2, HD 6990 etc. Looking at the reviews, these cards actually did have good scaling for all games. Why did AMD/NVidia abandon them? Imagine a dual GPU RX5700XT , 500mm2 die size for performance 30% better than 2080Ti. Or imagine an Titan RTX dual GPU itself, get hard thinking about it. Given this whole machine learning gold rush, lots of normal people would buy that, and the minority of extreme gamers can finally enjoy 8k 144Hz.

Is SATA simply left to fade away and die ?

    Posted: 29 Aug 2020 11:24 AM PDT

We got PCIE 4, USB 4 is on horizon, but with only 6 Gbit/s speeds SATA 3 has long been obsolete now and I can't find any info on SATA 4. Are they just going to let it fade away and die with SATA 3 ?

2070 Super and 2080 (both TU-104) combined outsell 2080 Super (also TU-104) four to one. In order for these weaker cards to be salvaged defective 2080 Super, yield would have to insanely low, something like 20%.

Since we know TSMC 12 nm yield is much, much higher - what is Nvidia doing with all those working TU-104 chips?
