Posted: 30 Apr 2021 12:14 PM PDT "4A Games has not evaluated the AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution feature for Metro Exodus at this time. In our FAQ, we were referring to the AMD FidelityFX open source image quality toolkit which targets traditional rendering techniques that our new RT only render does not use, and noting that we have our own Temporal Reconstruction tech implemented natively which provides great quality benefits for all hardware, so do not currently plan to utilize any other toolkits." The clarification was a reply to the query from wccftech which is banned on r/hardware so sadly no source. If mods or users want it i can edit it in or do a comment follow up Update, same statement also sent to videocardz [link] [comments] |

Desktop replacement Laptops. Where are they? Posted: 30 Apr 2021 03:51 PM PDT Where are the 17+ inch Acer Predator, MSI Titans, Alienware Area 51m, Asus ROG heavy beasts?I love my Tank-ish laptop. So far it's serving me well in any game I play. However, it has a GTX 1080 in it so does not support DLSS or ray tracing. Eventually I'd like to buy myself a new desktop replacement laptop... but from what I can tell NOBODY is making them at present. The biggest laptop on the market at present is the MSI Leopard gp76, which is alright, but I'd hardly call it a desktop replacement. It lacks IO slots, isn't as upgradable is my old Titan, and tens to run hotter too. Also all new laptops seem to have very weak power bricks and draw very little power compared to the old desktop replacements. This is throttling their RTX 3000 series GPU's. So why isn't anyone making truly powerful laptops with RTX 3000 series cards? [link] [comments] |

How can retailers structurally get away with increasing prices of graphics cards every month? Posted: 01 May 2021 01:51 AM PDT As title suggests, RTX 3080 would retail from $699, yet retailers are selling at $2499... Does NVIDIA (or AMD for their XT series) not have a say in the upper limit retailers can sell at? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 30 Apr 2021 05:24 AM PDT As far as my research goes, it seems that BOE doesn't produce consumer product. (I might be wrong) Their display can be found in various companies' product like Huawei, Hisense and even in some of Apple's products. Apparently they are also the world's second largest OLED display producer albeit with a much smaller market shares at around 5-7%. Their OLED panel can be found in some Huawei smartphone. Does anyone have insights on the quality of their best LCD and OLED panel and how it compares with the products from the rest of the industry. I have no idea on their level of R&D, do you think they are capable of becoming one of the companies leading the innovation on display technology or just remain a supplier? [link] [comments] |
