Posted: 07 Jun 2020 08:49 PM PDT here's my pc: https://imgur.com/a/U0UhzxH I finished my upgrade/build few days ago but too excited to post it. I saved for 3years, yes you read that right, 3yrs for 460$ that's why I'm so happy that I posted my poor man's rig. I'm just a poor student, I save 1$(converted from local currency) or less per day and sometimes my savings are stripped because of school funds I had to start again from zero. I just want to share my story, back then I had i5-3470s, 8gb RAM, GT630, I bought them all 2nd hand even the generic PSU. 1st I bought my i5 and MOBO when I was grade11 for 40$ (converted) and my uncle gave me 8gb ddr3, after saving for 2 months I bought my friend's generic PSU for like 10$ and his friend's GT630 25$, I assembled it and was very happy, upgraded my GPU after 11-12months I bought a used GTX 960 for 50$ and I felt like I can handle all games I wanted, then after that I saved all money bought a new PSU and until now to buy a new rig, my new rig is R5 3600, 2*8gb 3200mhz, and Tomahawk max but my GPU is still the same 960, I can't upgrade it anytime soon I planned to work but there's COVID. I'm very proud of my rig not the best and the cleanest but I'm very happy with this, happy gaming! [link] [comments]
Posted: 08 Jun 2020 07:35 AM PDT I am looking for a chair where I sit 12-14hours a day in it. Do not care about aestethic, only to not have back pain in 10years. Mostly for gaming and work from home. My budget is maximum 300$ CAD (around 225$ USD) I know nothing about chair, but I like to be able to adjust arm height, so I can put them at the exact same height than my table. also after a few hours I tend to like slip down in my chair and get a bad posture, is there any chair that prevent that "slipping" ? Recovered from a near-certain disaster. Posted: 08 Jun 2020 06:07 AM PDT I built my younger brother a PC a few months ago, we're in the UK and he had a budget of ~£470. For that budget, I grabbed him: Ryzen 5 1600 AF (~£90) 2*8GB 3000MHz Patriot Viper RAM (~£60) AsRock A320m-HDV R4.0 Motherboard (~£40) 120GB Silicon Power SSD (~£20) Gigabyte RX 570 Gaming 4G (~£120) Fractal Design Core 1100 (~£38) bequiet! Pure Power 500W 80+ Bronze (~£48) AOC 21" 1920*1080p 60Hz TN monitor (~£68) There were a few problems, including the graphics card being too long to fit in without sliding it in sideways and manoeuvring it under the hard drive cage, I realised that if I had gone for a 3.5" drive instead of a 2.5" I wouldn't have been able to fit the GPU and storage in the case. Thank god I chose an SSD! There was also an issue with the RAM, and I had to take it out and put it back in a few times to be sure it was secure. Anyway, the worst problem occurred the night before I actually ended up building it; I had been busy and out all day, and I didn't want to build the PC that night because I was so tired, but he insisted, and due to a combination of his inexperience and my lack of energy, the CPU (Ryzen 5 1600 AF) wasn't properly secured in the socket when we installed the CPU cooler. Fast forward to when everything is plugged in, doing an out of case parts test, and it doesn't turn on. I spent about ten minutes fiddling with the power cables, before realising the mistake. I took the cooler off, but the CPU not being secure, it came off attached to the cooler. I then tried to pry the CPU off, pushing it sideways, but suddenly the suction (presumably from the thermal paste) released and the CPU bounced off the table and landed on the floor. Disaster. About 7 pins were bent, and I was beginning to panic; I couldn't afford to replace that CPU. So I told him, we went to bed, and the next day I watched a video on JayzTwoCents' channel about how to save bent pins. Followed his advice, used a Stanley/Exact-O knife blade and a magnifying glass, straightened them out, and his PC has been running perfectly for at least 3 months now. I made a mistake, recovered from it, and ended up successfully completing my first brand new PC build. Just wondering if anyone has any similar stories? Core I7 10700k versus Ryzen 9 3900x Posted: 08 Jun 2020 08:17 AM PDT i'm buildind a pc at around 1800 euros, and i want to know which CPU to buy. I know, that Intel is the best when it comes to single core performance, but the ryzen chip makes up to that by having 6 cores more... which one is better? Posted: 08 Jun 2020 06:43 AM PDT So I went to the local Computer Shop and asked if they could make a list with parts for a Gaming and Video editing PC. The guy asked me if I would like an Intel or AMD Ryzen based PC. I said Ryzen because its currently more valuable than Intel. Then he got a little worried and said Intel is better because I wont have problems with temperatures and booting up. He also said Intel's MOBOs are a lot cheaper than AMD's and that I must have a good quality MOBO if I really want AMD. So I just told him to make a list of parts with AMD Ryzen CPU so I can see the price because I'm on tight budget. So here is the list: He said that I'll have problems with Ryzen and its not really worth it. Is this PC worth $900? I will buy parts in the local Computer Shop where prices are higher (my country has 25% VAT so thats why) What do you guys think about this PC? Is the MOBO really that bad or is he just trying to change my mind to buy Intel? Is there something you would change to make it for less money? Im on really tight budget and really need your opinion. Thanks! Edit: sorry for bad formatting, Im on mobile [link] [comments]
Posted: 08 Jun 2020 09:05 AM PDT All I'm going to use the storage for is for the game library. Will I actually be able to notice a difference between the different types of SSD? What is a reason one might go NVMe? [link] [comments]
First gaming build finally finished, after 3 years of dreaming of building one. Posted: 08 Jun 2020 09:20 AM PDT My build I can't believe I finished it, I honestly don't know what to do other then just look at it. My build experience was a little rough to be quite frank. Here's the run down I had my entire pc built and was waiting for the gpu. So when I got it I was literally shaking, and when I went to put it in. The gpu wouldn't slot into my case. I had the completely bend back the metal of my case so it could even go in to the pcie slot. But after that It was pretty much smooth sailing. The one problem I have right now, is that my bios won't let me send more than 1.3 volts to my 1.35v gskill neo 3600mhz ram. The farthest I could clock it with 1.3 was 3066mhz. If anyone can help with that my motherboard is the b450m steel legend. Start buying parts now or wait till rtx 3000 series and ryzen 4000? Posted: 08 Jun 2020 10:52 AM PDT I want to build a gaming pc this year. I plan on buying the rtx 3080 and AMDs new cpu(4700). Should I wait to buy everything at once when the GPUs and CPUs release or should I start purchasing some parts now? Im itching to build. [link] [comments]
First time building a pc. I’m loving gaming on this machine. Posted: 08 Jun 2020 12:36 PM PDT https://imgur.com/gallery/FmTZ5n5 Built the pc in January but recently got new fans and love how it looks. Wish I got rgb ram when I built the pc but what can I do lol. It was a lot of fun building this pc and I can't believe how good games look. The pc specs: r5 3600, gigabyte 5700xt oc, x570 msi a pro board, thermaltake v200 case, 650 gold psu, 1tb m.2 nvme, 3200mhz 16gb ballistic ram 32inch curved benq 1440p 144hz 42inch 4K LG TV used for streaming 4K content from my Xbox x. I did literally everything right this time, all the parts are brand new and guess what? Nothing is turning on still. Im finna just give up, all this money fucking wasted. What is the best program to check tempratures on cpu an gpu Posted: 08 Jun 2020 02:31 AM PDT Im rocking a ryzen 5 3600 and an rx5700xt, in the bios it says that my cpu is 31 degrees c, when i boot up and open ryzen master, ryzen master says my cpu is 65 degrees, is there any other program to check on my temperatures? Console Player's first mid end-high end PC build Posted: 08 Jun 2020 01:25 PM PDT this is my first PC and I wanted to build an overall great one for Video Editing and gaming, hoping to future proof it as well, still need thoughts on what SSDS are good , what case fans are good and which RTX 2070 Super is best as I've brought basically every other part. So every suggestion would help! [link] [comments]
PC & Monitor for a 12yr old’s birthday gifts Posted: 08 Jun 2020 09:36 AM PDT Hi All! First post here in this community (so please be easy on me). My nephew has a birthday coming up and he will be 12. He said the only thing he wanted for his birthday is a PC with a minimum of 60 FPS but would prefer one around 120 and a 4K monitor. I'm not a pc gamer, but I do like playing games on Xbox etc. But I'm a little lost on what he is looking for, where I could get it without it being outrageous and what is more useful for a 12 year old boy. I'm not sure what FPS is but he was very specific in what he wanted. I looked at Best Buy and CostCo but I'm seeing the PC's go for $1k. Is this the average cost? Any tips or ideas? He has had an extremely rough childhood with two absent parents, changing multiple schools in a few years span. I would like to do something special for him without going broke. Thanks in advance!!! Edit: You all are awesome and I'm very appreciative of your responses! I posted on 2 other subs with 0 feedback so thank you so much! I'm reviewing this with my hubby and I'll keep you all posted on what we decide! [link] [comments]
PC won't turn on, Motherboard says CPU Error Posted: 08 Jun 2020 08:35 AM PDT Troubleshooting Help:What is your parts list? Consider formatting your parts list.
Describe your problem. List any error messages and symptoms. Be descriptive. I woke up this morning and my secondary PC that I use for a minecraft server and a few other things was not on, and will not boot. Since it had been 6 months since I last cleaned it, I decided to completely tear it apart, clean, and rebuild it. At this point I have reseated in the computer and replaced the thermal paste on the CPU. When I try to boot it up, one of the lights on the motherboard lights up, showing it to be a CPU error. I have an AMD Prism RGB cooler for the CPU cooler as well, and it keeps blinking the same color, which seems to indicate the same thing. At this point, I am out of ideas of what the problem could be besides the CPU just dying, so any help is much appreciated! https://imgur.com/a/CIhGhSV , shows the error light that I am referring to. Why don’t Nvidia cards stay in stock? Posted: 08 Jun 2020 01:04 PM PDT I currently have a gigabyte gtx 1070 and I was wanting to upgrade to a Nvidia RTX 2070 super founder edition. But they are never in stock on there website, I had them email me when they were back in stock, and they sold out again in less then 3 hours. I really want the founders edition card. So my question is how often do they restock them? [link] [comments]
Monitors with 144hz and good color accuracy for photo & video editing and more Posted: 08 Jun 2020 11:10 AM PDT Hey guys, need a suggestion of a few good monitors with 144hz and good color accuracy for photo & video editing and maybe games later on, If possible under 250 or 200 since I'm trying to get 3 monitors. Something that has good color accuracy since I'm really into photography and soon will be into filmmaking is 144hz or more, has built-in good speakers, under 200 if possible max would be 240-250 since I'm trying to get 3 monitors and most importantly, is worth the price, cause I don't want to get something that is too expensive for what it has [link] [comments]

Overclocking with stock Ryzen 5 3600 wraith stealth cooler. Yes or no? Posted: 08 Jun 2020 06:34 AM PDT FINALLY upgrading soon. Parts will be here ~6/20/2020. Can I do a light OC on their stock coolers? OR can I go all out? Getting an air/CLC cooler wasn't in the budget at this exact time. Do you guys OC on the stock cooler? Posted: 08 Jun 2020 11:47 AM PDT Just built my first PC from scatch (upgraded an old one, but didn't built it completely), and I'm so excited. Took me about an hour to get everything up and running (including a test run first, to make sure everything is working) but I spent a good 3 to 4 hours just cable managing. I'm so excited to share this amazing experience with you guys (safe to say I'm addicted to this now). As you can see, I did my best with the case (which was a birthday gift from wifey) and I'm pretty happy about the way it turned out. I ran Dragon Center and tweeked the lighting, but I just gotta figure out a way to change the GPU light - it's killing me. These are my parts: - Case: MSI Forge 100R - Mobo: B450 Tomahawk Max - RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 16 GB 3200 (two sticks to get that dual channel). - CPU: Ryzen 5 3600X (Picked the X, because I wanted the higher base clock speed. Waiting for a month and two to get a decent after market AIO/air cooler to OC to 4.1 or 4.2)/ - GPU: Asus 1660 Super (Gonna wait till prices drop on the 2070/2080) before I spend on a decent GPU. But this should be more than enough to run the games I play. - Storage: M.2 Sabrent Rocket NVMe 4.0 500 GB (I know I can't fully utilize this, but I firgured it would be better to pick this up in case I upgrade in the future) & Samsung Evo 860 500 GB. - PSU: Thermaltake Smart RGB 500W (Let me explain. PSU prices are somewhat ridiclous here, but until I actually need the exta power, I'd rather stick with this). Future plans: - Upgrade GPU, PSU, and get a Noctua or a 240 AIO just in time for Cyberpunk. Would love to know your thoughts or general feedback. I think there's still a lot for me to learn from this community, but most importantly, I didn't follow the Verge's video suggestion and didn't build this on a table -which I think had an effect towards the end with sore back issues). Posted: 08 Jun 2020 11:47 AM PDT Hello, I am looking to upgrade to a dual monitor setup that both use HDMI. The monitor that I currently have is Acer RT240Y. The problem I'm having is that my GPU (Radeon RX 570) only has 1 HDMI slot so I will not be able to connect my second monitor into the GPU. When I plug the monitor that I currently have into the motherboard that I have (ASUS Prime B450M-A) no image appears on the screen. The questions that I have are: - Is it possible to connect two monitors with HDMI to the computer, e.g. fixing the motherboard's HDMI slot or getting some sort of HDMI bus for the GPU? - The monitor that I am considering getting is the ViewSonic VX2458-C-MHD 1080p which is a 144Hz monitor. If I cannot seem to get both monitors on HDMI, will using DVI instead of HDMI limit the refresh rate (not be able to fully enjoy the 144Hz) and is the quality difference between HDMI and DVI greatly noticeable? I can provide more information if necessary. Thank you. [link] [comments] |
