Posted: 12 Jun 2020 07:56 AM PDT Ok so I would really like to discuss this. Based on the facts and research you guys have done which is better for gaming, AMD or Intel. Personally I chose a 2200g about 2 years ago bc of the cost effectiveness and bc I liked AMD better than intel from what I had researched. I have a friend who said that Intel is better for gaming. He said that "Intel out performs AMD in single threaded work loads such as gaming. While they do have more cores and more threads Intel usually gets the higher FPS in games." I am in no way disputing this I'm just curious. Does this conform to you guys experience? Thanks for any input!! I really am curious and I'm sure a lot of people would like to know!! Can I integrate a PS4 into my tower? Posted: 12 Jun 2020 06:36 AM PDT My PS4 is really bad for over heating and I only need it for like two games. Is there any way I can integrate the Hardwear into my tower pc? I don't wanna delve too deeply into researching if it's not possible or way way complicated [link] [comments] |
PC keeps losing primary monitor while I use it for work Posted: 12 Jun 2020 05:20 AM PDT Not sure if this is the best place to post this but I've gotten help from here before. I recently built my PC and have a 3 monitor set up. One landscape and the other 2 portrait. Since COVID, I have been working from home and use the landscape monitor on a different input for my work laptop. The portrait monitors are still used on my PC, this is so I can do some personal stuff while I work. Every now and then my PC loses connection to the primary monitor (which is being used on a different input at the time). This causes one of my portrait monitors to become the primary and all my rainmeter widgets get moved to that screen. This changes the resolution to some programs I am running as well. The PC thinks the landscape monitor is completely gone. I can only recover by changing inputs on my landscape monitor back to PC and restarting my PC. The problem occurs randomly, I can't seem to find a trigger. Does anyone know what I can do to keep the PC/landscape monitor connection active while I am using the laptop/landscape input? Posted: 12 Jun 2020 04:27 AM PDT Built this last night. Avoided unicorn puke and extra spending where I could with a focus on gaming. My first build in about 15 years. https://imgur.com/a/u7rBu0E Ryzen 5 3600 Radeon 5700 xt Gigabyte b450m ds3h (shit for options available) Lexar NM610 500gb (meh but still m.2) Ripjaw V series 3200mhz cl16 16gb Evga 500 BR power supply Fractal Meshify C Plopped an old 3tb barracuda in it for some storage. It took a lot of research to choose a case, but I am in love with this meshify. Easy build, and that ps shroud hides all sins Big thanks to the sub for doing what it does. [link] [comments] |
Will switching to 2x8GB vs current 1x16gb offer much performance increase? Posted: 12 Jun 2020 06:25 AM PDT So I recently got a PC with the following specs: Intel i5 9400F Originally I was going to do my own build but it was actually cheaper to buy this pre-built than I could source any of the parts (eBuyer, Amazon etc), so I went with it. So far it's been fantastic, I'm using it for gaming only, and currently that revolves around solely playing MW:Warzone. Although I'm happy with the performance, I'd like to gain some extra frames if possible (as I'm using at 144hz monitor, but not currently hitting 144fps.) The memory in their currently is a single 16gb stick, I've heard many times that it's optimal to run 2 sticks vs 1.. If I were to switch to 2x8gb, would I see a noticeable increase in performance likely? (Circa 10+ FPS?) With regards to memory speed for purposes of gaming, is there any real benefit to going to say 3600mhz vs the current 2133mhz? I've heard people say that it's pretty much relevant if you're A) Gaming B) using an Intel processor... is there any truth in that? I guess my options if it's worth doing this would be:A) Buy another 16gb 2133Mhz stick, and run 32GB @ 2133mhz.B) Buy 2x8gb 3600Mhz and leave the original 16gb stick out. Appreciate any feedback! :) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 12 Jun 2020 01:29 PM PDT First was about 10 years ago with Phenom II 965 Black edition. It was still capable, or so I thought until getting this together. This is 2nd ever build. Posted first power on, checked boot order and installed Windows 10 in under 10 minutes. Runs cool and super quick. I just picked up a Sapphire Pulse RX5600XT. Figured all these good parts deserved a decent GPU, and I like a challenge! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 12 Jun 2020 08:17 AM PDT I'm planning out a new build, but since power supplies seem to be hard to come by, or they are more expensive, I want to reuse my old one to cut costs. I have an old Corsair HX750 power supply from a build I had back in 2012. It's modular, and I still have all of the cables it came with. Is this ok to use with new hardware, or are the psu cables different now with new hardware? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 12 Jun 2020 02:10 PM PDT so i havejust bought all the parts for a new pc, upon assembly i made no mistakes, all prodducts are new not used, when i try power on the system there is no sign of life, no fans spinning mobo doesnt light up or anything, psu fan doesnt spin, so im trying ti figure out whats wrong ... was my psu doa or did i somehow fry my mobo although i was using an antistatic wrist wrap? please help me out as i have just spent almost 900 on this haha. specs Cpu: ryzen 7 2700x Graphics card: Gtx 1660 super Ram: 16gb crucial ballistix rgb DDR4 3200mhz Storage: 1tb sabrent q rocket m.2 nvme ssd Motherboard: asus rog strix b450 gaming F psu evga br 600w 80 plus bronze... please let me know. psu was on btw [link] [comments] |
Posted: 12 Jun 2020 02:04 PM PDT This is my current setup. Hopefully that link works. I build most of it years ago, then upgraded my GPU and RAM a little after the 1070's came out. Upgrade Budget: $500-1k. What I want: 1440p gaming at 90fps or better. (is this realistic without upgrading my GPU?) I bought that 144/1440 monitor a couple years ago -- well before I think I should have, and have been frustrated ever since. I'm currently playing games like AC Odyssey on this setup and barely breaking 40 fps @ 1440p. I would assume that my bottleneck is mainly my CPU? I would really prefer not to have to upgrade my GPU in addition to what I expect to have to upgrade, CPU / MOBO / RAM + an additional large SSD now that they are priced so much more reasonably. The big thing to add, I live an hour from a Microcenter, and just saw in another thread that they are offering a large discount for first responders. I don't know if that will end after things go back to normal with COVID or not, but I was starting to think about upgrading 6 months or so earlier than I had been planning to try and save some money. Any MC deals would be a plus. Thanks in advance for all the help. I've only built 1 computer before and it was a long time ago, and I have found out that upgrading my CPU is going to not work without a new MOBO (I'm assuming this is the same for the RAM?). So please ELI:10. :D [link] [comments] |
Splurge for better motherboard or cpu? Posted: 12 Jun 2020 12:05 PM PDT Hi! I'm currently looking at building a gaming/productivity PC to replace my XPS while I am at home. For my budget, I could either go with a R5 3600 and X570 motherboard OR a 3900x with a B450 AsRock motherboard (to be paired with a Nitro+ 5700XT). That being said, would a X570 motherboard be a better buy than a 3900x? [link] [comments] |

Please help my PC has high temps. Posted: 12 Jun 2020 01:12 PM PDT Hello, good afternoon. Need help cooling my new build. I'm on Window 10 Pro. No viruses. Scanned with Kaspersky. My CPU is a Ryzen 3600, GPU is Eva RTX 2080 8GB, ram G.Skill Ripjaw V 32GB 3200, and power Supply 850W Seasonic gold. My idle temps on the games menu is 117F for the GPU and 137 on the CPU. Last night while I was playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider the game crashed. I opened up MSI Afterburner and was shocked to see the temp was 154F for the GPU. My room is pretty cold. I keep my AC unit on the highest settings. I also set the GPU fans to 100% the temp before doing so was 85. After doing so it was 78 while idle on the desktop. I'm using the stock cooler for my CPU. The case I'm using is a Frac Meshy C tempered glass. I even removed the glass panel to see if that would help with the temps. It did by a degree or two. I only have the two stock fans that the case came with installed. After quiting the game just now the temps quckly dropped. It is now 82F. I was thinking about buying the Noctua NH-D15 chromax Black, Dual-Tower CPU Cooler. Not sure how much that would bring the temps down. Any help would be very much appreciated. [link] [comments] |
How can I remove my front panel without damagin the wires connecting to my front USB ports? Posted: 12 Jun 2020 12:58 PM PDT I wanted to put in some front fans but I realised that I had to take off the front panel. People said to just rip it off but I saw that there are wires connecting to it and I'm scared I'm going to destroy something. My case is thermaltake versa h 17 [link] [comments] |
Posted: 12 Jun 2020 12:55 PM PDT I was running a FPU stress test on aida64 and had HWinfo pulled up to moniter cores and temps. There was almost a 12 degree temp difference with aida64 reading 70 c and hwinfo reading 81.8 c. Any ideas what causes this? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 12 Jun 2020 10:39 AM PDT Hello everyone, I recently swapped all my components to a new case and I realised some things. Here are the pics that complete my questions. Check imgur for pics of my components to see what i'm talking about 1) Why my mobo has this on the backplate ? And what is this ? burned ? 2) Why is this "similar" thing on also the backplate of the gpu ? (GTX1080 G1) not really similar, it looks like grease or something. IS this worth to worry about ? 3) is this angle sata cable ok for my HDD ? this specifically has 8tb of data, so i'm asking if it will not hurt it, scared to loose all that shit 4) My new h115i works weirdly (in the good sense I guess). 2700x under h115i non oc has a top of 47C degrees while playing RDR2 for 3 hours. 56C while rendering video (30min) in Davinci Resolve and sometimes browsing internet it goes up to 51C. Why is that weird ? Because the lowest temperature I got was playing a game which is ... weird but good tho! So why this strange behavior ? Also idling at 35c and goes up to 48C sometimes when i don't touch anything Data taken from CPUID HWMonitor if that helps somehow [link] [comments] |
Posted: 12 Jun 2020 12:10 PM PDT I'm looking at buying a bigger hard drive, but dont have the best budget. Would a surveillance drive work for normal use? I tried looking on Google, but I didn't really find that answer useful [link] [comments] |
