I'm visiting Germany and bringing my PC from South Korea. Will I need a new PSU? Posted: 13 Dec 2019 04:33 AM PST The voltage here is 220V and 60hz, but in Germany it's 230V and 50hz. Will that be enough of a difference to stop my PC from working, or cause permanent damage? I have a Micronics Cyclone III 600W. It doesn't say anything other than 220V and 60hz, which is why I'm worried. [link] [comments]
New build complete! Please check these temperatures... Posted: 13 Dec 2019 10:44 AM PST Hi, everyone! I just finished a new build. The specs are:
I've was checking temperatures with NZXT CAM and while they seemed fine, I kind of expected idle to be lower. Also, in CAM, it was showing my CPU always up at almost 4.4 GHz. I figured, at idle, it'd drop clock speed. Anyway, I checked HWMonitor and the max clock for each core there seems to line up with what CAM is showing as "CPU Clock". Next, I installed AMD Ryzen Master and that seemed like more realistic numbers. Around 30 degrees at idle with a much lower clock. Here is a screenshot showing the 3 apps together. Which do I trust? Thanks, everyone. This sub-reddit has been awesome in helping me build this! Have a great weekend, everyone! Update: I ran Cinebench R20 a bunch of times and, according to HWMonitor, the max CPU temp was 64ºC. With PBO set to Auto (in BIOS), the score was 4667 but with PBO set to Enabled, it was 4907 (max temp of 69ºC). I've no idea if these scores good as I've never used Cinebench before now. Posted: 13 Dec 2019 07:35 AM PST Hi there, Im currently between 2 hard choices either I build a brand new spanking R5 3600 +Rtx 2060 Rig Give or take will cost me around 1250 Euros in total OR I upgrade my current build to the max amount my motherboard allows witch will cost me at most around 390 euros (not counting the rtx 2060 since I already have it) My current build is : Intel Core i5-4570 (i7 4790 or the k version if I upgrade) PSU Corsair CX 500W, 80 Plus Bronze Case THERMALTAKE Commander MS-I MB ASRock B85M-HDS HDD Seagate Barracuda 3.5'' 1TB SATA3 7200RPM 64MB(will add a Crucial mx 500 1tb ssd) Ram 2x4gb Crucial balistix 1600mhz (Upgrade to 2x 8gb 1600mhz) PC will be used for gaming (mostly playing FPS's and RPG's at high settings, Resolution will be 1080p 60fps or 144fps when I can. The reason why im interested in the upgrade route is I want to wait for few more years before building a new PC im just not sure if the 4790/4790k will hold me for that long. Posted: 13 Dec 2019 08:43 AM PST Hello Reddit! I am currently planning a build for a PC and while doing some research I discovered Windows has a maximum compatible RAM size of 2TB. I'm planning a 32GB build but became curious as to exactly how this would work. I can't seem to find a MOBO that can support 2TB or a collection of sticks that equate to 2TB. Does anyone here have any information on how this would work? Thank you and have a wonderful day! [link] [comments]
Scrapyard PC turned out pretty good Posted: 13 Dec 2019 06:46 AM PST So I have just completed my Scrap parts build and I think it is pretty well balanced I am an IT administrator so I was able to get a good start by grabbing a decommissioned OEM HP box (I7 3770) and stuffing it with 32gb of ddr3, so that was all (FREE) next I pulled a 550w PSU out of an old PC (Also FREE) got a MX500 ssd off amazon ($60) Used Vega 56, undervolt/overclocked ($180) 3440x1440 Monoprice 100hz monitor ($300)(new on sale) gaming is pretty well balanced most games play 60-100 FPS high to ultra settings, I am totally happy, I feel like for a low end build this went great performance per $. I am surprised at how well the 3770 held up, the high res monitor helps because I do not ask 100hz+ out of it. I love used parts and recommend them if you are on a budget particularly the Vega 56 (seems like a forgotten about GPU). [link] [comments]
Sudden extremely long boot times Posted: 13 Dec 2019 01:41 PM PST Troubleshooting Help:
hey yall, so i've had this build up and running for a good minute but recently very suddenly my boot times have increased dramatically, extremely and exhaustively to multiple minutes, nearing six total my last boot. the issue is totally crazier than i thought it was typing that tbh, considering my boot times previously were 20 seconds, max. Describe your problem. List any error messages and symptoms. Be descriptive. on boot, the computer opens to the aorus logo with bios/boot manager/q-flash etc options and after about 3-6 seconds, the options are removed and the screen remains with the aorus logo and a spinning circle beneath it for the remainder of the boot process which takes typically longer than five minutes. List anything you've done in attempt to diagnose or fix the problem. i've reset the bios multiple times and ensured fast boot in both bios and windows 10 was disabled; i have tried booting without any peripherals as well to no luck. i'm unsure what other things i should try! i have tried reinstalling windows as well. FPS in games suddenly not as good as usual Posted: 13 Dec 2019 09:55 AM PST Hi there, so recently(yesterday) my PC has been kind of acting up, my fps has been a bit janky in games I play, nothing unplayable just kind of weird and annoying. My main game I play is League of Legends, I have it capped at 80 and normally run everything on very high and usually stay at a steady 70-75 FPS every time I play, but ever since yesterday with everything on the same settings my fps jumps around from 40-50(60 if there is not a lot of action happening) so at first I thought it could have been the game, so I tried a game of something else and sure enough, same issue. Like I said this isn't ground breaking but I've even tried lowering the settings and still no improvement, I've scanned and cleaned my PC of malware and adware, physically cleaned all the dust out, ran a GPU monitor to see if I was overheating, checked my CPU temp/power consumption, updated drivers, checked task manager while running/idiling for cpu usage, everything turned out to be fine so i'm running out of ideas, any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks! Specs: Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700K CPU @ 4.00GHz, 4008 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s) Mother Board: MSI Z170-A PRO (MS-7971) RAM: 16.0 GB(DDR4) GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 4GB G1 750W PSU [link] [comments]

Gigabyte RMA - A Massive Disappointment Posted: 13 Dec 2019 01:22 PM PST As the title suggests, i am extremely disappointed in Gigabyte's customer support. My Gigabyte 1080 ti died and i sent in for RMA because it was still in warranty. After a month of constant checking the RMA website, i finally sent an e-mail to customer support and they got back to me after 3 days saying they received it but just did not update the website. Another week passes and it says on the RMA website that there is physical damage and warranty is voided. This is just nonsense because the card was in excellent shape, there was absolutely no physical damage or burn smell anywhere. It just would not work (no lights, no led). Moreover, i made sure that the package was secure, i used a lot of foam peanuts and inflatable bags. On top of that, the GPU was placed in the stock box it came with (anti-static bag, shock absorbent cover material etc). There is no way that the card was damaged during transport. What is even worse is that the RMA website now says the card is being sent back to me without even sending me a e-mail about what was wrong with the card. I think they damaged the card on purpose at site to not honor their warranty, i heard a lot of stories of this happening to people on the internet and i just hoped i would not be another victim of Gigabyte's shady practices but here i am. I sent 2-emails to them but i am yet to hear anything back and its almost been a week. I think they will just ignore me while sending back the defective card. At this point I am just wondering if anyone could give me an advice on what to do with this absolute nonsense? Any advice is truly appreciated and thanks for taking your time to read my post. GPU using around 4 percent while playing red dead redemption 2? Posted: 13 Dec 2019 01:21 PM PST Hi all, So I just built a new PC on Sunday. Everything is running great other than a few funky problems with controlling the rgb. I'm also having this weird situation where my 2060 super 8gb is running in the single digits while playing rdr2 on top graphics settings. My 2x8 Corsair vengeance 3000mhz ram is moving at about 60 percent while gaming, and and 3600x is at about 50 percent. Is this normal? Is there a setting I'm missing to put more of the burden on the graphics card? I generally play on a 1080p 60hz screen (for now) but even duplicating with my 4k 60hz tv doesn't move the number much. Any suggestions? Or should I just not worry about it. Just to quickly edit before anyone asks, yes both HDMI are plugged into the graphics card [link] [comments]

New build won’t turn on at all Posted: 12 Dec 2019 11:23 PM PST I just finished building my first pc and when I turned it on absolutely nothing happened. No lights on the motherboard, beeps, nada. I checked the psu using a paperclip and it works. I just removed all cables from the motherboard besides the cpu connector, cpu cooler, and the motherboard 24 pin connector, turned on the power supply and still nothing. I'm running out of ideas someone pls help Edit: my bad I'm stupid. I fucked up the front pannel connectors the first time and fixed those. Turns out I did not fix those, just fucked them up in a different way. She turns on now! [link] [comments]
My first build is almost complete. How's it look? Posted: 13 Dec 2019 01:05 PM PST I've been wanting to build a PC for a really long time and finally convinced the wife to let me! I just can't put it together until Christmas lol. How's it look to you guys Edit** the reason the 1080ti is so cheap is that my friend ordered one that never showed up, retailer shipped another one. Few months later the first on showed up. I was looking at a 580 or 1060. He said he'd be willing to sell it to me for that much since he essentially got it for free.

from GTX 1060 ryzen 5 1600 to RTX 2080super + ryzen 3700x Posted: 13 Dec 2019 03:49 AM PST So I finally finished building my second rig, big upgrade from my first pc i used for 2 years and a half. The frames I had on my last rig were so low that it made me stop playing, couldn't play the games I wanted (because I play fps games on 144hz and I was getting under 144 fps and it wasn't smooth at all with a lot of stuttering). I want to hear your opinion on the specs of my new build. Could have gone with a better looking case but decided to keep my old one for the purpose of saving money as I don't really care that much about how it looks anyway, I'm more interested in performance. I don't like too much flashy rgb lights because it distracts your eyes so I kept it to a minimum and cut the LEDs off my fans cause I didn't like their red lights tower : https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/531032834039873536/655008955101216769/PSX_20191213_122140.jpg desk : https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/531032834039873536/655008954304167956/PSX_20191213_122645.jpg

Where on my MOBO can I add extra case fans? - Pics included Posted: 13 Dec 2019 12:57 PM PST My case only has a single exhaust fan in the rear. I want to add one to the top and two to the front. Problem is I'm not sure exactly what size fans to get or where to connect them. ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming 4 and Case https://imgur.com/gallery/yg38eLD The second imgur image is of my mobo layout. Im currently using the chassis Fan1 slot for the existing rear fan. I still have Chassis Fan2 and fan 3 available. And I also have CPU fan 2 available. Will I be able to plug in my 4th chassis fan into CPU fan 2? I know this might be putting the cart before the horse since I dont even know what fans Im getting, but i hope hoping to get some guidance on fan size or voltage issues i may occur, etc. For reference here is my PCPartPicker list so you guys know what Im working with. The case unfortunately isnt accurate as I couldnt find it in the list, but I have included pics of the case in the above imgur. [link] [comments]
Posted: 13 Dec 2019 10:43 AM PST I went to my local pc store this week and was deciding on what parts to buy, this shop had a Crosshair 6 Hero for $199, for 10 bucks lesser was the B450 Tomahawk MAX and 10 bucks more for a B450 Carbon PRO AC. I would be pairing my board with a 3600 but I have no idea which board should I get, is there anything I would gain or lose from an older platform? EDIT: The MSI Carbon PRO AC is actually 40 bucks higher [link] [comments]
Single GPU fan making weird noise - video included Posted: 13 Dec 2019 12:29 PM PST That issue just appeared recently, left fan of the GPU makes weird noise while its working. When I turn fans off, sound disappears. Video is here. Should I worry? I can communicate with MSI about that, warranty is still active. Why do you think this could happen? Will my PSU and Case be adequate for my system? Posted: 13 Dec 2019 08:34 AM PST https://pcpartpicker.com/list/hfhgn7 Will 550w be good enough and does the case have good enough airflow? Keep in mind i have norwegian prices on components so whats cheapest for you guys might not be for me. Thats why the part choices might look weird. Can I use case fans with a radiator? Posted: 13 Dec 2019 12:10 PM PST I have 3 radiator fans in pull, I'm wondering if I can add 3 case fans for a push as well. [link] [comments] |
