Hardware support: Don’t upgrade your Intel CPU just yet! (NON-K)(Huge performance boost) |
Don’t upgrade your Intel CPU just yet! (NON-K)(Huge performance boost) Posted: 09 Dec 2021 12:13 PM PST So my pc specs are as follow: Rtx 2060 super , 16gb ram running at 2666mhz, i7 9700(non k). I play most fps games on competitive graphic settings so I can try to hit the 144fps mark for my 144hz display. The issue is , games like Warzone or Vanguard are very cpu dependent so there isn't a lot you can do to push out more frames. I was getting frustrated because I did not have the ability to overclock my non-k cpu so there really wasn't anything I could do to push cpu performance. But then I found intels XTU software. You see ,these cpus can usually turbo to very high speeds but won't under great load due to a power limit. In this software , I can set my power limit for the cpu above 65w, in which I set to 160W, effectively allowing the cpu to run under max load at a stable 4.5GHZ , which before , it would run at 3.2GHZ underload even though temps didn't reach above 60. This one change in XTU has increased my performance(in terms of fps) hugely in every single game , with warzone for example , going from 100fps average to 150fps average. Also rendering in DaVinci has become much faster which is a bonus. So please , if you are thinking of upgrading your non k cpu , just check the XTU program first for power throttling , as this yielded massive performance gains for my system. [link] [comments] |
