Posted: 13 Sep 2021 08:57 AM PDT I recently swapped in a new Ryzen 9. I also removed the GPU during this process as it blocked access to the harness for the cooler. Upon booting up I got no input to the display. At first I thought this was a display issue. I swapped the display cable for HDMI. Then I reconnected the GPU to ensure it was seated properly. Then I tried direct to Mobo to use onboard graphics. Shit, still nothing. Apparently, while I had stepped away during the swap out to clean the thermal paste off my fingers, my wife thought the case was too dusty and hit it with the vacuum. So no POST. Board is a Gigabyte Aorus X570 Elite. I've cleared CMOS through connecting the pins and pulling the battery for a few minutes. Fans spin. The LEDs on the GPU, CPU cooler, and edge of the board come on, but the ones on the board flick off immediately. Am I totally screwed? What other troubleshooting is there for likely static damage? Thanks in advance [link] [comments]

Posted: 13 Sep 2021 07:28 AM PDT Let's ignore practical/theoretical efficiency for the sake of this question, make sure this stays as dumb a question as possible. My Google-fu is failing me this morning. [link] [comments]

New to the world of building PC Posted: 13 Sep 2021 07:42 AM PDT So I am new to the world of building PC. Everywhere I look, ask, read... I end up either not having an answer to my question or just with a yes but no but yes type of answer. So I am turning to you guys to enlighten me a little. Due to covid and the fact that I had my firstborn a few months back I find myself in a situation where I am not as wealthy as when I started to look around and choose part for my own build. I was wondering, is it possible to build a Gaming PC that is at the minimum of its capacity with the mindset that when I am able to invest for better part I can just switch them up and upgrade? If yes, what is are the most important components I should not cheap out on from the start? Obviously the Mobo and power supply but anything else than that? [link] [comments]
Posted: 13 Sep 2021 11:16 AM PDT Hi! I saw a CPU cooler (https://imgur.com/a/WYGP4hd) on the Fractal Torrent website: https://www.fractal-design.com/products/cases/torrent/torrent/black-solid/ https://imgur.com/a/WYGP4hd Is this an actual CPU cooler? Or just something rendered to fit the case? [link] [comments]
Posted: 13 Sep 2021 06:52 AM PDT Hey /r/buildapc, I've been off building PC's for quite a while since my system was doing well for what I wanted. My current specs are: ASUS Prime B350 Plus, Ryzen 5 1600, 16GB 2400 MHz RAM, Nvidia GTX 1060 As I said, I wouldn't necessarily need an upgrade but am looking into getting a new Motherboard because My USB devices/ports are behaving weirdly (sometimes everything will disconnect and then reconnect, Wifi stick regularly disconnects). A new CPU is something I would maybe get (since that's where I see most room for improvement for my current applications) or upgrade a bit later, if that's more suited. Which one would you recommend? PC is not posting and I'm not sure what the issue is Posted: 13 Sep 2021 11:00 AM PDT I'm helping my friend sort out his pc (his first time building) everything is plugged in and I'm not sure why. The front panel connectors are quite loose in the motherboard and keep coming out everytime the wire is shifted and I'm not sure if that is normal. The case is quite cheap as well so maybe that also contributes. Can anyone give me any common issues for pcs not posting. I added a pic of the front panel connectors. Posted: 13 Sep 2021 09:28 AM PDT Hi I have a short and simple question for you. Which board is better for gaming B550 or X570? Greetings :) [link] [comments]
Silicone covers for motherboard headers/ports/slots??? Posted: 13 Sep 2021 12:26 PM PDT i finished my build a few months ago, but im trying to think of ways to clean up the apprearance a little and i was wondering if it was possible to get colored silicone covers/inserts for all of my unused ports headers and slots. i figure itll make things look a little more concise inside and also protect from dust and heat. B550-F gaming and Ryzen 5 5600x fompatibility Posted: 13 Sep 2021 04:14 AM PDT I've chosen a B550-F gaming WiFi Motherboard and a Ryzen 5 5600x for my build, before I order, are the two compatible off the bat or will it require a BIOS upgrade, and if so what specifically is required for said update besides FAT32 stick, and the motherboard/CPU Any listed steps would be great as well as everything I need, what to download on included Edit: on my final build post if it is ok I would like to include every name of everyone who gave any form of assistance to my build if not please comment as such I just want to give credit where credit is due [link] [comments]
is waiting til after christmas a better time to build instead of before? Posted: 13 Sep 2021 12:47 PM PDT All the prices have been inflated since covid due to the shortage and all, and I've been holding onto $3,000 to build a PC as I'm going into graphic design, and 3D animation in 2022, but I'm not NEARLY getting the parts I want for the budget I have due to that inflation. I don't know much about computer parts and prices when they go down etc, but would it be smarter to wait til January 2022 to get a new PC? Or would parts be even harder to get then/prices go up more, or I should try to get it before Christmas even with the inflation? [link] [comments]
Can you review my build for work + gaming? I haven't done this in about 12 years so am a little lost Posted: 13 Sep 2021 12:45 PM PDT Hi r/buildapac, thank you for your help! I want to build a machine that I'll use for work and gaming. I work in software sales so nothing too taxing. I'll use Zoom, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, share screens and often open Gmail threads with 100+ emails in them (for some reason this totally locks up my 2019 Macbook Pro). For gaming, I'd love to be able to play any game but I'm not precious about playing it with maxed-out settings. The game I'm most interested in is League of Legends but I'll play whatever is popular at the time (and my friends are playing). I'm more of a social gamer than a serious gamer. I have some money to spend but I'm far from getting a fully specced out machine. Ideally, I'd like to spend €1,500 or less but if it was slightly over and easily justified, I'd spent a little more. A friend is selling me his 1080ti for €350 (included in the build) which seems like a good deal. Please let me know if you think otherwise though! For the motherboard, I would love it to have USB C connectivity. This would work well with my MacBook peripherals. I use 2 X 4K monitors. They are Dell monitors, not gaming ones. Otherwise - I'm a total noob! I don't know what to be looking at. So please let me know if my build is trash and how you would spend the same or similar but get more bang for my buck. Posted: 13 Sep 2021 12:29 PM PDT My laptop decided to die and I've replaced it with a desktop but need to purchase a webcam for meetings. I'm not doing anything other than Zoom and Google Meet meetings. There's such a wide variety and I have no idea what I am looking for. Any recommendations on a webcam that will give me a solid video/microphone experience while having meetings? Thanks! [link] [comments]
MOBO has an 8+4 pin power but my psu only has a 4+4. Do I only need to power the 8 pin? Posted: 13 Sep 2021 02:14 PM PDT
My PC turns on for a split second(no post) Posted: 13 Sep 2021 12:00 PM PDT Pc worked fine yesterday used it all day I turned it off for roughly 10 hrs and now when I press power or jump the pins it turns on for a split second spins the case fans once and dies. Had the same issue a few days ago I took it out of the case and bench tested it and it worked fine. [link] [comments]
Does my build look fine? First time building, seeking any improvements/help. Posted: 13 Sep 2021 11:58 AM PDT Build Help/Ready:Have you read the sidebar and rules? (Please do) Yes What is your intended use for this build? The more details the better. Intended for gaming on a 1440p 144 hz ultrawide monitor. If gaming, what kind of performance are you looking for? (Screen resolution, framerate, game settings) I want to be able to run triple A games on the highest settings with 60-100 FPS. What is your budget (ballpark is okay)? $3500-4000? Less is always better though In what country are you purchasing your parts? US Post a draft of your potential build here (specific parts please). Consider formatting your parts list. Don't ask to be spoonfed a build (read the rules!). PCPartPicker Part List Provide any additional details you wish below. This is my first time building a PC so I apologize for any dumb mistakes. Also, I already have the monitor, and I bought the GPU (hasn't arrived yet and may be down to downgrade the GPU if it's overkill for what I want/need). NOTE: You do not have to follow this format, but please be sure to answer these questions. Please do not ask to simply be given a build. You are welcome to delete this section. Posted: 13 Sep 2021 05:24 AM PDT I was looking through some Corsair pc cases on amazon and I want to know the difference between these three designs Airflow, RGB and Tempered glass. other than the style and price, which one is better? [link] [comments]
Gaming at 240 FPS at 1080p, What Spec ? Posted: 13 Sep 2021 05:13 AM PDT All my friends are into 2K gaming, but I prefer smaller 24/25inch monitors ive never had a 144hz monitor, but am looking to get a 240hz one and build a pc around it. I play games like overwatch, call of duty, battlefield, and other bits and bobs really like Mordhau for for the laugh factor, not really that good at any of them, but love to game. What kind of specification should I build around to keep these higher frame rates? I dont care about high or low gfx particularly don't so much. Im struggling with CPU and card combo as these new cards seemed to be geared to 2k, 4K Rtx etc. [link] [comments]
Posted: 13 Sep 2021 08:49 AM PDT Ok what should I do my second graphics card (970) hdmi port doesnt work and I dont have integrated graphics for my cpu so I have to use display port or VGA on gpu. The only problem is my monitor doesnt have a display port sadly, what should I do buy a display port adapter or a use vga. I forgot to say but I'm currently using a 1050 and I would rather just use the 970. [link] [comments]
Will my 650W psu handle a evga 3060ti ultra ftw3? Posted: 13 Sep 2021 10:00 AM PDT Hey friends :) I'm about to finally get my hands on a 30 series. I have a season of 650W 80+ gold psu. I use an overclocked i7 9700k on 4.4ghz. Will my psu be able to handle the upgrade the evga card? [link] [comments]
Help double checking parts (and pointing me towards a monitor!) Posted: 13 Sep 2021 09:34 AM PDT So everything here is already ordered through various suggestions at differing times. I was hoping to get these parts double checked and also get some advice on monitors. A lot of games I play rely on dark elements (stealth/horror/etc) and I've seen differing opinions on VA/IPS/TN. I'm also not completely sold on going to 1440p over 1080p. I'll be playing some retro stuff and I've heard it can look pretty subpar when going away from 1080p. However, I'd also like some new stuff to look pretty good (looking at you, KOTOR remake). So some confidence in my parts and direction on a monitor would be greatly appreciated! Side note: should I be okay with the fans included with this case? Ordering extra ones didn't seem necessary based on what I've seen but I'm also very green to all this)

Difference between Seagate Barracuda 1TB and 2TB Posted: 13 Sep 2021 11:06 AM PDT Hey, my current 1TB hdd is failing and I'm in need of a new one fast. I was looking online and the 2TB Seagate Barracuda (ST2000DM008) seemed like a reasonable choice however, looking on userbenchmark it was quite a bit slower than the 1TB version (ST1000DM010)? Why would that be the case and should I then go for the 1TB version? Here's the link to the comparison, idk if it will work for you guys as well https://hdd.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Seagate-Barracuda-2TB-2018-vs-Seagate-Barracuda-1TB-2016/m466743vs3896 [link] [comments]
