DeepCool's AK620 Reviewed : NH-D15 performance, but 30% cheaper Posted: 13 Sep 2021 10:42 PM PDT Hello /r/hardware, Below is a summary review of my results from testing DeepCool's AK620, which launches today. I don't usually post my reviews here anymore, but I'm making an exception because I was extremely impressed with DeepCool's AK620 cooler while testing it. This will be a truncated review with only the information y'all care about, and none of the fluff. If you want the full review, stalk my profile - I'll post the link after it publishes. Parts used for this review:
Pictures of the cooler, for those interested : https://imgur.com/a/r1E5UcQ Temperature Benchmarks:Temperatures below are delta over ambient recordings AIDA64 CPU + FPU Testing
Cinebench R23
AC:O
Borderlands 3
Far Cry V
Noise BenchmarksI took a recording of my system while under full load, and analyzed them using Orban's Loudness Meter. The NH-D15 measured at -53.1 LKFS, whereas the AK620 measured at -52.8 LKFS. This means the NH-D15 is slightly quieter than the AK620. ConclusionI liked this cooler a lot, I honestly didn't expect it to be on par with the NH-D15. My only complaint about this cooler? It lacks extra brackets to attach a 3rd fan. [link] [comments] |

Will consoles hold back ray tracing in this console cycle? Posted: 13 Sep 2021 12:19 PM PDT PC GPUs (both Nvidia and AMD) seem to have an advantage in ray tracing this console gen. Nvidia has their RT cores + DLSS, and AMD has their "ray accelerators" in their CUs + FidelityFX (+rumored upcoming machine learning cores), plus both will go through 3 generations by the time the current console cycle ends. Was it a big miss to not include dedicated machine learning cores in PS5/XSX? I have heard that the plan is to handle machine learning tasks like upscaling and RT denoising when the CUs are sitting idle but it seems like that would be a lot to do while trying to hit 4k/60+ performance targets. Maybe FidelityFX + Nanite/mesh/primitive shaders will pick up the slack? Not having ML cores in the consoles feels like how Jaguar cores were the bane of PS4 in that they could hold back visuals in video games this console generation. EDIT: This is in no way shade on consoles. Some of my favorite titles are console exclusives. I'm just hoping for true Pixar-quality games @4k/60fps this console gen. While Insomniac games are close, it feels like they would benefit from more RT power. I don't understand all the downvotes on this post. [link] [comments] |
