I’m new to pc gaming and know nothing about computers

    Posted: 16 Jul 2021 10:06 PM PDT

I saw this pc on Facebook for 375$ but I don't know if it's worth the price or not. (I copy and pasted the description below)

Threw this PC together with my old parts I'm no longer using. It's a good baseline and all it needs to be a gaming PC is a graphics card. The case is clean looking but it is older so it has some scratches and signs of wear. They're not very noticeable when the pc is running and I did my best to include the marks in the pics. It's also missing two of the back pieces that come out for where the gpu sits, I lost the screws but it will have zero effect on the functionality of the PC. With it I will include an RGB red dragon mouse and a red led keyboard. I also have the monitor in the pics that I'll throw in for an extra 40 but I don't have the mount for it so it would have to be Vesa mounted. The parts in it are as follows, CPU: I5-3570k Cooler: Cooler master Hyper 212 eco RAM: 16gb of ddr3 EVGA ram(2x8) MOBO: Asrock Z75 pro3 PSU: Corsair CX 430M Hard Drive: 1TB WD Black 7200RPM DVD Drive: An asus drive from years ago Case: not sure of the exact model but it's a phantek.

GPU reaches 100% usage when launching a game and shuts down my system

    Posted: 16 Jul 2021 10:08 PM PDT

Hi everyone, so recently(about 1 week ago), I was playing Fortnite with my little brother. I was on PC and he was using a PS4. After a few games my system shut down but I didn't think too much of it at the moment as we were due to stop by then anyways.Fast forward to yesterday, starting up Apex Legends and a minute after loading into a game system shuts down again.

My first instinct was to make sure all drivers were updated and sure enough, they were. Then, I restarted Apex Legends but this time with task manager and GPU-Z both on. And I realize that as soon as the game starts, the GPU goes from 20% usage to 97-98% usage and my PC shuts down.

Lastly, i deleted my GPU drivers from Device Manager and reinstalled them. Still, the same thing happens.

At this point, I'm completely stumped and have no clue what to do. It would really help me out a ton if you guys could suggest a few fixes to this problem

EDIT: I have a Gigabyte GTX 1650 Super
EDIT 2: Ive tried everything in the comments and it looks like resetting the bios/ clearing the CMOS might have done it. This would mean that it was caused by the RAM being in XMP mode. I've been able to play about 5 games of Apex without crashes and it is all thanks to you guys. Thank you you fucking beautys'

The easy way to get a 3060 ti

    Posted: 17 Jul 2021 07:53 AM PDT

The trick is to buy the Amp Box bundled with a 3060 ti from the zotac store. It is almost always in stock and it is only $120 more than their regular version. The bundle costs $750, though still expensive, you also get an external GPU box and it is still cheaper than scalped GPUs. We don't know when these stock issues will end, but this seems like a good option to me.

What are good features to look for in hardware and accessories for a "future proof" build?

    Posted: 17 Jul 2021 10:05 AM PDT

I'm getting the itch to build a new computer after coasting on my current build (aside from a GPU upgrade) since 2013.

I really, really like building a tanky computer and using it for as long as possible so with that in mind... I'd love to hear your thoughts on what elements of 2021-era build make for good "future proofing."

I ask primarily because I'm a bit rusty on the building side of things and haven't kept up with a lot of the new trends/innovations/etc. but would like to start planning a build with an eye towards purchasing components now that will both have a long life cycle (because they are powerful) and that are positioned to be good for upgrading/tweaking later.

For example, I notice in a lot of comments here and in /r/buildapcsales people will say stuff like "Oh don't get that board, the socket it the end of it's lifecycle and on top of that you won't be able to use X/Y/Z technology because the board doesn't support it so next year when X/Y/Z comes out you'll be sad." or whatever.

So if you were building today, what "I'm planning for the future" things would you look for?

    Is the 5800x a worthy upgrade over a 5600x?

    Posted: 17 Jul 2021 12:53 PM PDT

I found an open box, never used 5800x locally on OfferUp for $220. I currently have a 5600x. I mainly game but also do some trading. I want to start streaming as well.

Here is a list of my parts.

    https://pcpartpicker.com/list/3K3JLP

Would picking up this 5800x be worth it? I'd sell the 5600x and assume I could get at least the same price I'm paying for the 5800x.

    Thanks!!

    Different SATA cables?

    Posted: 17 Jul 2021 11:17 AM PDT

Been building PCs for ages but have always used the SATA cables that came with my motherboard. This means I've been annoyed by their stiffness for ages, especially for tight builds. I've just noticed some places sell "round" SATA cables and the like, has anyone had any experience with these? Are there softer/more flexible SATA cables available?

    Thanks!

Corsair 4000D- How to setup 5 fans

    Posted: 17 Jul 2021 11:15 AM PDT

I have one static pressure fan (no radiator though) and 4 air flow fans. All 120mm.

Should I go with 3 intake or 2 exhaust? Where should i put the static pressure fan as it may not be as effective as the airflow fans? Do I even need to use it?

Edit: Its 4000D airflow. Not tempered glass.

Will this be a good $875 Family & Gaming PC Build?

    Posted: 17 Jul 2021 01:05 AM PDT

My Total Budget is $1200, but I'm gonna use the remaining money for peripherals

(I live in Indonesia, so I managed to find some cheaper stuffs)

Here's my Plan Build: CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 GPU: Asrock Radeon RX 570 Motherboard: ASrock B550M Pro 4 RAM: HyperX Fury DDR4 16GB (8x2) 3200 mhz SSD: Samsung Evo 870 500GB SATA HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB (1x) PSU: Cooler Master 500w 80 Plus Elite V4 Case: Aigo Darkflash DLM22 Case Fan: Aigo Fans 12mm - White Light (x5)

($895 with delivery fees and 1 year insurances)

And is Asus VG249Q 24" a good choice for monitor?

    ($225)

Did I overspend on something? All this will fit and runs right?

    Pc won't post anymore

    Posted: 17 Jul 2021 01:02 PM PDT

So, a few days ago I screwed up and decided to turn on secure boot in my bios in preparation for windows 11. From what I saw, it didn't look like I did anything wrong, but after I applied the settings it wouldn't post anymore. The debug LED labeled BOOT is on and i cant get any display out of it, after trying 2 monitors, 2 different gpus, display port, and HDMI. I attempted to reset the CMOS multiple times as well with both a CMOS jumper and by removing the battery for around 12 hours. The bios flashback feature doesn't work either for some reason, when I try to, it just flashes 3 times then the light stays on. I'm out of ideas, so any help for this would be super appreciated.

my specs are an MSI B450-a pro for the motherboard, Ryzen 3600x CPU, 32 GB DDR4 ram, GTX 1070 ti and Radeon r9 380 gpus

    What CPU/ motherboard/GPU to support 32 PCIe Gen 3 lanes for 12 4k TV's?

    Posted: 17 Jul 2021 02:26 PM PDT

I need to run 12 4k TVs and plan on using this GPU (unless you guys know a better option?)

What CPU/Motherboard/GPU combination will allow this for the cheapest price?

An older solution could work just fine?

    I am defeated

    Posted: 17 Jul 2021 02:24 PM PDT

    Hi all,

I just purchased my new PC and have everything delivered except for the case (NR200)

I've put everything together, even triple checked to make sure I made no mistakes but the thing won't turn on. The GPU is seated and has power (etc 3080 turbo by Gigabyte), RAM is in correctly, so are the SSDs etc etc.

    What could be the problem?

Help with my once-per-decade PC build.

    Posted: 17 Jul 2021 02:03 PM PDT

I have an agreement with my partner to only build a new PC on years that end in 1. No in-between upgrades. I use my PC for gaming and amateur video editing. My Sandy Bridge rig from 2011 has held up strong, but it's time for a new build:

Case: Antec 300 (from old rig)
Motherboard: Gigabyte X570 Aorus Pro WiFi
    CPU: AMD Ryzen 5900X
    Cooler: Noctua NH-U12A
    Case fans: (3x) Noctua A12x25 and (1x) A14
RAM: 32 GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 3600MHz C18
    GPU: GeForce RTX 2080 Ti
    M.2: Samsung 980 Pro 1TB
    M.2: Inland Platinum 8TB
    PSU: Corsair RM750x

My partner also requires that I use my old case, an Antec 300, as it is the "least aesthetically offensive." The case doesn't do well with AIO, and the built-in fans are making strange noises. So I decided to get a Noctua air-cooling setup and replace the TriCool fans with Noctua ones.

What do you guys think of the build?

    A couple of specific questions:

    1. My old PSU is a Corsair TX-750. Was it a good decision to replace with a new PSU, given that the only "upgrade" is modularity, increased efficiency, and less whine from the fan?
    2. Any thoughts on the Inland Platinum M.2? I regretted not getting more SSD storage on my last build. Working with video on a non-SSD is just not fun. I'm a bit older now, probably only spend 15% of my computer time gaming, so am not searching for pure FPS/dollar ratio as much these days. I haven't heard of Inland Platinum before, but the fact that it's a Microcenter house brand gives me some confidence it won't be a rip-off.

Corsair iCUE H100i RGB PRO XT 75 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler

MSI B550-A PRO ATX AM4 Motherboard

    Crucial Ballistix 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL16 Memory

Seagate Barracuda Compute 2 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

    Some kind of 3060 ti

Antec DF700 Flux ATX Mid Tower Case

My budget is around $2000 - $2300. Getting the pc for gaming on 1080p 144hz and maybe schoolwork down the line.

I don't play very demanding games so keep that in mind

Simple question: what is this cable?

    Posted: 17 Jul 2021 01:55 PM PDT

    Hi,
Simple question so I'll keep it short and simple. On the screenshot provided you can see one end of a cable which is one of the cables that came in assembled in the Lian-Li o11 Dynamic case. All the other cables like front panel cables have been connected to the motherboard, but I have no clue what this cable is/what it does. Does anyone recognize the cable and can tell me what it is and where I have to connect it on my motherboard?

I have an r5 1600 and I'm looking to get an RTX 3060 ti or 3070. Should I upgrade my cpu? If so, what would you recommend.

I play csgo, fortnite, pubg, valorant, and apex with a 1080p 165hz monitor and am4 b450 motherboard. My budget it $300 but cheaper would be cool.
