Posted: 11 May 2021 07:39 PM PDT I had an i5-10400+B460 system for a while and decided to sell it in favour for the newer i5-11400+ASUS B560M-A, as I do not have a GPU and the i5-11400 has the best iGPU available in my region (Toronto). As I am currently on the stock cooler, auto (default) temps easily peaked into the 90s with the fan at 3000+ RPM on a Cinebench R23 test. I was messing around with the BIOS settings and discovered that the CPU voltage can be adjusted through, iirc: auto, manual, offset. As my 10400 easily ran -0.100mV, I decided to YOLO it and jumped straight to the same offset. Surprisingly, it worked and no surprise, my CPU now peaks at just 83c (with some fan tuning for quieter operation). Link to my motherboard (not sponsored): PRIME B560M-A|Motherboards|ASUS Global TL;DR: My i5-11400 + ASUS B560M-A was able to undervolt via the BIOS, so it may be worth checking your BIOS if you want to save a few degrees, quieter operation, etc. [link] [comments] |
