Why do so many USB-C hubs only support USB 3.0?

    Posted: 06 Mar 2021 08:40 AM PST

USB 3.1 gen 2 10Gbps has been out for 7 years, yet for some reason nearly every USB-C hub I see on Amazon only supports 5Gbps USB 3.0. USB 3.2 since 2017, and now USB4 in 2019.

Are they just using cheap chipsets? Not enough bandwidth to share? Something else?

If anyone has a good recommended USB-C hub that supports USB 3.1 gen 2, PD charging pass-through, ethernet, and 4k 60hz HDMI support let me know! (this may be a thunderbolt thing only)

Like when I learned that cars rely on semiconductors too I was like yo that's nuts... what else has semiconductors or chips in them that is in extreme short supply due to the shortage right now?
