Are Windows 10 Power plans useless? Posted: 16 Mar 2021 03:45 AM PDT Hi All, I tried to send this post earlier but I suppose something has gone wrong. BTW I made an experiment and found that my PC in idle conditions pulls around 190-200 W regardless of the Windows and GPU power plan selected. I did this test in idle condition because I assume that under load both the CPU and GPU work at their max frequency, thus levelling the differences between the power plans. Even if you look at the power consumption in the exact moment I took the screenshot, the difference is negligible (190, 194, 196 W). If you consider the one minute average, we can say that there is no difference at all. Windows Balanced plan & GPU "Optimal power" setting Windows High performance plan & GPU "Prefer maximum performance" setting Windows Ultimate performance plan & GPU "Prefer maximum performance" setting Have I done anything wrong or are my conclusions correct? Thanks for your feedback! [link] [comments] |
