    Help Convince My parents

    Posted: 22 Mar 2021 10:15 AM PDT

So when I was younger my pc would not boot. So I got a friend to help me and we accidentaly screwed loose a fan into the case. And my dads workplace friend said we could die from that. So now the will not let me build a pc and they belive I will die of an electric schock by just taking the sidepanel of my prebuilt. I dont know what to do and they dont trust me at all with anything to do with pc's anymore i cant even take the sidepanel off to clean dust out off my damn prebuilt :(.

Edit 1: Just tried speaking to my dad about the pc building. Did not go very well he called me to hot headed because I complained about the parts his friend chose last time. And now we are not on very friendly terms it seems.

Edit 2: Wow you guys really have great advice! Sorry for not answering every comment but I sure have read them all. I will bring many of you guys points up to my parents. Will probably answer more tomorrow.

    Pc won't turn on

    Posted: 22 Mar 2021 01:05 PM PDT

So after receiving my motherboard, I put together my pc and attempted to turn it on, there was no response, no sound, light, fans, nothing, I double and even triple checked all the cables and everything seems fine, I took everything apart and put it all back together with the same response. Please help.

Looking to upgrade CPU and MOBO, need advice!

    Posted: 22 Mar 2021 01:24 PM PDT

So my setup at the minute is from a preloved PC,

I7-6700K OC GTX 1070 OC MSI ZI70A M5 16Gb Ram With an Alpine Arctic 12 CO cooler

I'm still really new to using and building PC's and I'm looking to upgrade to using a Cryorig H7 for a cooler, an I5-10600k and a MSI MPG Z490 Gaming Carbon mobo. Is there anything I'm doing wrong or could change to save a bit of money? Or any changes you guys would make to make things better? I've been told my weakest link is my CPU which is why I'm looking to upgrade.

    Thanks in advance!

I want to upgrade my CPU, but I don't know what to buy or choose, recommendations would be appreciated!

    Posted: 22 Mar 2021 10:01 AM PDT

    • CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-7400 CPU @ 3.00GHz,Socket 1151 LGA (0x1)
    • GPU: MSI Computer Video Graphic Cards GeForce GTX 1050 TI GAMING X 4G
    • MOBO: H270M MORTAR ARCTIC (MS-7A69)

Hi! as im writing this I currently own a INTEL CORE I5 7400 3.00 GHZ 4 CORES, 4 THREADS and a stock cooler, its been really bad the CPU, my computer can barley run games and Id like to upgrade it instead of my entire pc. Becuase for my GPU I own a GTX 1050Ti 4GB and i think thats plenty enough for me. My motherboard is H270M MORTAR ARCTIC (MS - 7A69) (2.0) INTEL, KABY LAKE.

So, which CPU can I upgrade to, and which are compatible with my motherboard? Any aditional help you might think I should know about would be greatly appreciated!

Since the GPU market is a dumpster fire rn, what's the best CPU with integrated graphics to hold me over. Thanks

    Posted: 22 Mar 2021 05:12 AM PDT

Working on a pc and trying to finish without spending upwards of $400 for a decent GPU. Don't know which CPU with integrated to buy to hold me over till the market cools down.

For moderate gaming (pretty much just minecraft till I can get a GPU) and design software

    Pc keeps shutting down

    Posted: 22 Mar 2021 01:16 PM PDT

    Hi dear PC community,

I am writing this post on behalf of my friend who has a 3 months old gaming pc with the following specs: Ryzen 5 5600x, Gigabyte B550M Aorus Elite, 32Gb 3600Mhz Patriot Viper RAM, Asus Dual RTX 3070 and a corsair rm650 psu.

He only uses his PC for playing Warzone and a couple of days back his PC started to constantly switch off after 2-3 hours of gameplay. This behavior is consistent. I suggested him to check his temps which seem to be within normal range. He is not overclocking or using any unusual configuration and has his drivers are updated.

Can you give please some troubleshooting suggestions or ideas what could cause such behavior?

    Thank you in advance

Event ID 14 nvlddmkm error fix

    Posted: 22 Mar 2021 11:15 AM PDT

Posting in the event others are experiencing this same issue and have not found a solution.

Link to my initial post about the nvlddmkm error I was experiencing.

And link to another post with substantially more information. (I tried virtually everything in this post with no solution)

I struggled for months to resolve this issue, and over the weekend I have identified that Asus Armory Crate being installed on my comp was the culprit to the crashes. I would get these errors numerous times a day and after completely removing Armory Crate from my PC the issue is entirely gone and no more crashes. So if you have this issue, I suggest downloading the Armory Crate uninstaller to remove ALL associated files and hopefully this resolves your issue.

I need help picking the correct fans for thermal take s100tg.

    Posted: 22 Mar 2021 12:26 PM PDT

I am planning on upgrading my pc case and have landed on the Thermaltake s100tg case, however I don't know what fans to use. I briefly looked up the difference between static pressure and airflow fans but I couldn't decide what would be better for the case. I want some relatively cheap but good fans; mainly prioritising noise level , but good airflow would be nice. I have found some relatively cheap fans on amazon; https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0824MJR3T/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A2G2P6OHK9BM0M&psc=1 https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0037AQLLM/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&psc=1

I would really appreciate if you can help me decide what fans are the best that I've linked or if you have any other recommendations.

Dunno if it was worth the months of trying, but my RTX 3080 finally came in today after I managed to catch one in the last Scan drop.

    Posted: 22 Mar 2021 01:50 PM PDT

Well, finally got this bad-boy after months of trying to acquire one for my first build. Scan are the UK retailer for the FE 30 series cards.

It's possible, I guess. But was it worth all the mentally draining waiting and constant monitoring? Not really. But you can get one.

I wish you all the best luck! So excited to use this puppy.

    Ryzen 7 5800x or i7 11700k

    Posted: 22 Mar 2021 01:43 PM PDT

Looks like the 5800x are in stock now. I just preordered the i7 but could cancel the order. I keep seeing the 11th gen is super underwhelming and runs hot.

Should I just return and get a 5800x?

    Will my GPU fit?

    Posted: 22 Mar 2021 01:23 PM PDT

    Hi people.

I'm planning on building a pc with the Phanteks Eclipse P360A case this summer.
The problem is, i don't know if my GPU will fit the case and that it will fit together with my cooler. I've read the size limitations of my case and the dimensions of my gpu, but im still paranoid that i missed something. The GPU i will be using is RTX 3060 Ti AORUS MASTER and my cooler is a Noctua NH-UH12S. If someone could find out that my gpu will 100% fit with my case and cooler, i would appriciate it alot!

    Fps drops (v2)

    Posted: 22 Mar 2021 01:22 PM PDT

Hi everyone, ive been dealing with this issue for a couple months and its frustrating af. Even on super light games like Stardew Valley fps drop to 1-4 for like 1-2 seconds every so often, it usually starts of slow and the stutters get worse with time. Ive tried the obvious things, updated drivers, scanned for malware , optimization, checked ram usage , temps were fine, updated BIOS, cleaned the insides, and i dont recall much more.
My specs are: Ryzen 5 3400g
    GTX 1660
    Ram Adata Premier 2x8GB 2400 Mhz DDR4
600w Red Dragon 80 plus bronze SSD 240GB Western Digital Green
    HDD 1TB Seagate BarraCuda
    Motherboard Asrock A320M - HDV R4.0 AM4

I had blue screen issues in the past along with stutters, i found out my processor + motherboard combo was having issues for a lot of people, this was fixed by downgrading the BIOS and for a couple months there werent any problems. Im kinda clueless on what to do, reinstalled windows and nothing happened. Thanks in advance for reading and feedback

Ps: changed the psu from a thermaltalkr 430w plus white and the issue was fine for a day then it happened again

Can I use 2 ram sticks out of a kit of 4 ddr4 sticks and expect them to work?

    Posted: 22 Mar 2021 01:21 PM PDT

(This may be a stupid Question) I want to upgrade my ram to 16gb on my dual-slot motherboard, but I will upgrade my motherboard too eventually so I'm thinking about getting a 32gb quad-slot-kit and only use two of them untill I upgrade my motherboard, will this work?

    Sudden CPU underperformance.

    Posted: 22 Mar 2021 08:21 AM PDT

Today I was working on my PC, after a few hours I noticed that everything became extremely slow, I ran a benchmark and found that my CPU is underperforming. I tried restarting my computer, and it did help, but for like 1 minute. I restarted the PC again and then when it booted up again I looked at how my CPU is doing, I found that during the first minute it works just fine at 4.7Ghz, but at one point it just has a massive drop to 800Mhz and stays like that. I decided to run a full virus scan, but with such CPU speed it will take like 5 days to scan. Has anyone had a similar issue ? Here is an image of how the core clock graph looks: https://imgur.com/a/YgmXM3e

First Pc Build Can’t get a Gpu

    Posted: 22 Mar 2021 12:42 PM PDT

Hi, I heard this subreddit was very wholesome. I'm looking for a reasonably priced gtx 1650 and I want to buy two of them. I'm a light gamer who's just looking to build a mediocre gaming pc I will mostly be playing minecraft and a little bit of call of duty modern warfare. I also plan on recording video and video editing as I am a great video editor and I'm trying to get a job in that area of expertise. I mostly video edit in Adobe premiere pro. I've got the money available to pay for all my pc parts I just can't seem to find anything that isn't sold out or scalped online. I understand there is a supply and demand problem but I feel like I should atleast be able to find something available but i haven't been able to find anything that isn't sold out and or overpriced. Best Buy is selling 3060 ti's for 400 bucks but Amazon is selling Radeon Rx 580s for over 900 on some cases. Pricing just doesn't make sense anymore to me. If anyone could help me find a reasonably priced not sold out 1650 I would appreciate it. This is my first time building a pc i used to do editing on an Inspiron 570 from 2007 so at this point anything would be a huge upgrade. As long as it's reasonably priced and not way too old. My definition for too old would be a 1050 ti which is great for low end 1080p gaming but I really want this pc to last a bit longer until I can afford new parts for upgrade. 1650s sound perfect for me as I've seen my Dad use one for his gaming laptop and it can run high end games at a really good FPS. The reason I'm getting two is because I think that it will improve the FPS a little bit and 1650s are about 200 dollars on the market or are supposed to be so. Any help would be appreciated!

Does anyone make a pre-made pc thats not crazy markup? Not sure I want to build a work pc since they pay

    Posted: 22 Mar 2021 12:07 PM PDT

I grew up building computers but I've been out of "the game" for quite a while. I built my current pc but its time for an upgrade -- I am looking to buy something if possible since my work pays for it -- I need a lot of memory (I have 20-30 windows open at a time and my memory is the only thing that doesn't seem to keep up)

Let me know what you think -- Maybe ill just build one but I would rather just buy something for my work computer

    Choosing a GPU

    Posted: 22 Mar 2021 11:56 AM PDT

    Hello redditors and gamers!

I am building a gaming pc for the first time in my life and currently having trouble choosing between two graphic cards.

Zotac RTX 2060 Twin Fan Asus TUF X3 GTX 1660 Super

I am using the Ryzen 5 3600 as my processor and I'll be gaming on a 1080p 144hz monitor

I've watched some benchmarks and I noticed that only a small difference of fps gained and the ray-tracing looks kinda cool but I don't think that I'm gonna use it.

So, please help me making the right choice. Thank you!

    What CPU should I get?

    Posted: 22 Mar 2021 09:03 AM PDT

Hi, so initially I was thinking to get the Ryzen 5 3600 but then I saw an Intel i5 10400F, its a lot cheaper. What is the difference and what CPU should I get? Keep in mind that I will be gaming, video editing and some streaming and of course a lot of multitasking. And the GPU that I will use is gonna be an 3060 if I can find one or an 2060. Thanks

    Vram?

    Posted: 22 Mar 2021 06:53 AM PDT

    Hello there!

I am getting a new gpu and was wondering what ghrapics card would be the best.

    3060 - 12gb

    3060 ti - 8gb

    3070 - 8gb

I am running 3 1440p monitors so will the 8 gb of vram be a problem?

Need help figuring out motherboard problem.

    Posted: 22 Mar 2021 01:36 PM PDT

So I upgraded my CPU from a 3600xt to the 5600x on my arous elite B550. Was able to get into the BIOS and the new CPU was showing up, problem number 1 came when it wouldn't boot into windows. Problem number 2 came when I couldn't turn the PC off from the power button on the case. The final problem is the motherboard has no lights on it now. The fans and everything is still running but I have no video .I have no clue what I did wrong and I'm afraid my PC is messed up. Any ideas on what I did wrong.
