Have you upgraded your GPU since you bought that overpowered PSU? Posted: 21 Feb 2021 03:52 AM PST As promised, I decided to look into this prevalent stance; that you should get a slightly more powerful PSU than you need right now in case you want to upgrade for example the GPU down the line for a more powerful one. It makes sense, but perhaps mostly for people who upgrade a lot. I can't make polls and even if I could they wouldn't be very statistically significant anyway so I'll just go ahead and ask here: Have you been saved by your previous forward thinking of beefing up the PSU when you upgraded something (GPU etc)? Have you bought a more powerful PSU than you needed but never did upgrade, and now perhaps you've exchanged it anyway for whatever reason? [link] [comments]
Help me choose between these 2 budget b450 mother boards Posted: 21 Feb 2021 02:32 AM PST Hello there. I am building a Ryzen-3 2200g machine on a very tight budget, and I plan on upgrading to a better zen CPU in the future, once I have earned some money, hence the b450 board. For now, I have narrowed my choices to either the Gigabyte b450m ds3h or the ASUS TUF Gaming b450m plus. The Gigabyte one, I can buy for about 4300php (89 usd) while the Asus is about 8 usd more expensive. I know both of them might not be the best b450 board out there, but I am on an extremely tight budget. Please help me choose between the two, as they seem very similar and I have no idea which manufacturer is better. I have already made my mind and will be getting the ryzen-3 2200g with 8x2 3200mhz ram. My use case would be web programming and some lightweight gaming (Genshin Impact). I plan on upgrading the CPU (zen3) and adding in a GPU in the distant (3-5yrs?) future. I am not into overclocking, but I want the board with the better reliability and quality. Posted: 21 Feb 2021 01:48 PM PST So I just finished my pc build, and I'm getting frustrated. When I turn on my PC, it looks like everything is normal; fans start running and the ram is also fine. But, there's no display on the monitor, and my mouse and keyboard aren't lighting up either. There are also no beeps coming from the MOBO as well. I tried plugging in the hdmi cord to the motherboard with the gpu removed, but it still has the same problem. And yes, I made sure that the power cable to the cpu is nicely snug and tight. Can anyone offer me any ideas on what's going on? [link] [comments]
Considered Getting A New Hard Drive, What Files/Folders Can I Transfer? Posted: 21 Feb 2021 03:32 AM PST I don't know how best to word this. I'm getting a custom built PC soon. And I'm wondering whether I should just get an entirely new hard drive with it. I'm already getting an M.2 NVME for the OS, but not for the user files (Also, if there's a way to redirect the user files, I'd like to know). One of the issues I'm going to encounter, as I currently have a hard drive, which seems like it's failing already, 3 years into its life span, what folders would/should I move specifically that is safe to move, onto either the M.2 NVME or new Hard Drive? What folders specifically. (Like Appdata, ProgramFiles, etc) to save a bunch of reinstallation and loss of save data/user configurations. [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 Feb 2021 02:14 PM PST Im trying to buy a gpu while the prices are still ok... i just upgraded to a i5 9400f and i have 2 choices, i could get a 1060 6gb for 110€ now, or try and save a bit more and get a 1070 8gb for 210. which should i do, i have a r9 380 now and its not cutting it for the performance im aiming. Posted: 21 Feb 2021 02:59 AM PST Is this a myth or is it true --> https://landing.coolermaster.com/faq/files/powersupply/kA090000000Dl43_2.jpg I am planning to get a 3060 (170W) which uses the new 2x 8pin to 12pin adapter. And I am wondering if it really makes a difference when connecting two seperate cables to the adapter. [link] [comments]

What is your intended use for this build? The more details the better. I want to be able to edit on Adobe Premiere Pro mainly, but I'd like the option to be able to experiment in VFX Work to expand my knowledge. Regarding Gaming, I don't really want it for that, but if it has the ability to then that's a bonus. If gaming, what kind of performance are you looking for? (Screen resolution, framerate, game settings) Not Gaming, but would like to maybe edit in 4K. 1080p at the minimum. What is your budget (ballpark is okay)? Under £1000. In what country are you purchasing your parts? UK Post a draft of your potential build here (specific parts please). Consider formatting your parts list. Don't ask to be spoonfed a build (read the rules!). Provide any additional details you wish below. I'm thinking of getting dual monitors as it definitely will help when it comes to editing. I need everything besides a mouse. [link] [comments]
Dell XPS 8700 with 750 ti good value for 250? Posted: 21 Feb 2021 02:28 PM PST Wanting to get a cheap gaming build for mostly playing GTA 5 for a friend. My current PC is an old Dell Studio XPS 9000 so I'm pretty familiar with this line of computers, but I was wondering if a XPS 8700 with the I7 4770, 8GB of DDR3 RAM, and a 750ti for 250 dollars is a good deal given the current PC market. Obviously cooling on these is subpar so I'm also looking into adding a front case fan to the PC, but I wanted some input on everyone here if there's a cheaper way to do light 1080p gaming. Posted: 21 Feb 2021 02:13 PM PST Title says it all, just curious as to what gpu would be best for the i5-10400k for gaming at 1080p 75 FPS. Don't plan on getting it soon either, just was wondering so I can plan ahead. [link] [comments]
PC Wi-Fi. Motherboard as better option? Posted: 21 Feb 2021 02:12 PM PST Basically what's on the title. I'm planning to build my new pc. Been using laptop for a while and now I wonder if Wi-Fi integrated motherboard is the best option or if there's other alternatives. The pc is mostly for work but could use a few games. Mostly multiplayer. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]
Looking for a 27 inch curved monitor 240hz with gsync support Posted: 21 Feb 2021 12:26 PM PST The brand does not really matter although MSI has some great designs but i hope someone has a answer on this one :) [link] [comments]
Switched my GPU and now Chrome is running slow Posted: 21 Feb 2021 12:23 PM PST I have an ASUS 1660 Super that has been running great. Got a good deal on a used MSI 1660 super that has RGB and decided to test it out. FPS is very similar when playing games but when I use Chrome it is lagging like crazy. I will click on another tab and it takes half a second or so to change. Scrolling down a YouTube page also tears. Any ideas on how to fix this? Vertical MB Mount, Right Side Opening Case Options Posted: 21 Feb 2021 08:14 AM PST My new desk setup necessitates my case being on the left side of the desk. What are my options for vertical MB mount with a right side tempered glass door? I found this on the Egg but I can't seem to find any other options. https://www.newegg.ca/black-segotep-phoenix/p/2AM-005R-00009?Item=9SIANGYBVN2871 [link] [comments]
Help, I have no display and dont know what to do next. Posted: 21 Feb 2021 07:56 AM PST Pretty much all my components of rgbs in them, and when I boot up everything turns on, fans spin and it's a light show. But I have no Display. Yes the monitor is on the right setting. I have a yellow light on my rog strix b550a gaming mobo which the manual says is a DRAM issue. I took one of my ram sticks out, switched them around and found out one does work for whatever reason but the other one does. So great, I fixed the issue? No. Still no display. So now I have one "working" 8gb ram stick in my b2 slot. I then read that sometimes this is just the CPU being funky and to try and do a bios flashback which, I attempted a few times, clearing cmos after each, and even though everything looked like it worked, still no display. I am genuinely lost as to what to do besides just bringing it somewhere. Any help is appreciated. This is my first build and so I expected some hickups but fuck this kinda bites. Need some help upgrading a few older parts! Any advice is greatly appreciated. Posted: 21 Feb 2021 02:30 PM PST Below is my current build I made quite some time ago. I want to upgrade my pc but slowly. I do not game all that much so updating the graphics card is not really needed. I do program a lot, make music, do some video editing, and some light 3D editing for work. I have been experiencing instability recently its making me think I'm due to upgrade. Def will need some new storage but I am pretty lost on what to do and what to upgrade. Can you help me? Should I try and get a new Gen 5 AMD? Should I stick with intel? What is a decent upgrade path. My budget for the essentials is like < $600. Current Build

Managed to get into the bios of my pc but.... Posted: 21 Feb 2021 02:23 PM PST Hi guys so I managed to get my pc working and I got into the bios. However, I get this pop up message saying something along the lines of "CPU overheating please check the cooler is properly installed". It definitely is installed and the fan is working so I'm not sure why I'm getting this message. So I switched off and stayed away from my pc for the time being as I'm worried that something dangerous could happen if there are consequences to this error message. Can you please advice. Thank you Also the message gives me the option to ignore it completely so perhaps it isn't an issue? [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 Feb 2021 02:04 AM PST Hello! I might be upgrading to a 5600x and I was wondering if there will be a noticable difference in gaming. I play games 99% of the time but occassionally stream and Edit videos:) Im using an x570 aorus elite board paired with a 3070 & 16gb 3600mhz c18 ram [link] [comments]
Is my B450M MSI Mortar Max fine? One of the square/block/capacitor is tilted a bit, why is that? Posted: 21 Feb 2021 10:27 AM PST 1 year old motherboard, just noticed it today. Watched a couple of unboxing mobo videos with the same b450m model and this doesn't seem normal. Can anyone enlighten me if that square/block/capacitor is important? PC still runs fine anyway [link] [comments] |
