Is the upcoming 3060 and 3050 ti as powerful as the 2080 super?

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 12:00 AM PST

Now, I just looked at the leaks of these GPUs. It said that the 3050 ti will have 6GB of vram and the 3060 will have 12GB of vram and they will have 3584 and 3840 CUDA cores respectively.

Compared to this, the 2080 super has like 3072 CUDA cores and the 2080 has 2944 cores.

But CUDA cores cannot be the only factor determining GPU power as the 3060ti performs slightly worse than the 2080 ti despite having more cores on every game. Is that a memory issue then?

But still the 3060 12gb should have equal or slightly more memory than the 2080 super's 496GB and definitely more than the 2080's 448GB even if it's bus width is lesser(I don't know how to calculate memory bandwidth correctly).

So, I believe the GPU hierarchy should be as such

Base rtx 3050= rtx 2060 super/2070(if not for vram bottleneck)

    Rtx 3050 ti=rtx 2070 super

    Rtx 3060=rtx 2080/2080 super

    Rtx 3060 ti=rtx 2080 super/2080ti

    Rtx 3070=rtx 2080 ti
