So..I finally picked up my RTX 3070 and the worst happened. Posted: 12 Jan 2021 05:09 PM PST I finally found a founders edition RTX 3070 and I picked it up today. I opened it up to see what it looks like, and like a F*CKING IDIOT I was standing over it with my mouth open and drooled a little into the vent in the middle. As you can expect, I panicked. I immediately turned it upside down and wiped in between the fan grills as best I could. I definitely got some of it out but I'm afraid some of it got pretty deep in there. This is an insane question so I don't know if anyone will know this, but what're the chances of it still working when I get my PC up and running? Not all of my parts are here, so I won't be able to try it for a week or 2. Can moisture affect the card when power isn't going through it? By the time I actually try the card it should be dry. Any sympathy people wanna throw at me would be nice too. Sigh. [link] [comments]
Posted: 13 Jan 2021 08:04 AM PST When I got some money at Christmas I started ordering parts for a new pc, because I've been waiting to build one for so long now, and all of my parts have either arrived or are on the way except a GPU. I've been checking Amazon and other sites like Ebuyer, but everything is either 'temporarily out of stock' or 'coming soon'. Any advice on where to look or will i just have to wait a while? Posted: 13 Jan 2021 07:49 AM PST Screenshot of the message here I don't recall needing my name and address but it was also over 2 and a half years ago when I set it up. I don't see what they could get out of it if it was supposed to be fishy [link] [comments]
How much is the GTX 1060 6GB worth buying for? Posted: 13 Jan 2021 05:18 AM PST
Is it possible to run ray tracing on a pc that's <$800 Posted: 13 Jan 2021 11:09 AM PST I have about $800 to build a pc that ill use mainly for Minecraft and a few other steam games. I am a big fan of ray tracing as well. Would it even work well if I bought an RTX 2060 and spend $500 on the rest of the parts? I'm not too worried about resolution and as long as the framerate is playable I dont mind. Is this even possible, or will the performance be hindered by the rest of the pc? What is the best and efficient way for cleaning the keyboard? I use paint brushes. Posted: 13 Jan 2021 09:05 AM PST
Does a SSD have to be screwed in? Posted: 13 Jan 2021 12:34 PM PST I got a SSD that uses a M.2 2280 port but my PC lacks the screw to screw it in. Do I need to buy the screw for the SSD to work or can I leave it without needing to screw it in? [link] [comments]
Posted: 13 Jan 2021 09:16 AM PST Building my first PC, have a couple questions. Shooting for $1k and small form factor. Whats up with GPUs right now? Seems like everything is marked up everywhere. Are ITX boards limited to PCIe 3 right now? I looked and looked and could not find one with a PCIe 4 slot. That said heres the build so far Intel i5 10600k MSI H410i wifi MoBo GTX 1660 SC ($289) vs GTX 1650 Super ($349) WD 1tb SSD 32 GB 2666mhz DDR4 Any overall recommendations are welcome. Completely new to this, and am looking to play current games at 1080, having all settings maxed out is not necessary for me, just decent frames. I also want this to double as an Audio workstation running a DAW and tons of plugins Thanks everyone [link] [comments]
Posted: 13 Jan 2021 12:20 PM PST My pc has been doing this lately where when I turn it on it won't display and image I've had this pc since August and it's never done this till now. Sometimes I turn it on and then i hear all the fans turn off and then start over again. When I reseat my card it usually fixes it but I want a permanent solution.
This is my part list. https://i.imgur.com/YUR1Ben.jpg Edit: Well I figured somethings out when I have one ram in doesn't matter which ram or which slot it turns on but when I have both in it doesn't display and image Idk what that means. Edit: I think I figured it out I think it's my hdmi that I plug into my 50inch tv I will be upgrading soon to a monitor with a display port and hopefully that will fix it all. Just in case the reason it fixes is Bc I take the hdmi out and plug it back in and then it works or is there a problem with my graphics card? [link] [comments]
Posted: 13 Jan 2021 10:45 AM PST I know that nvidia has announced rtx 3060 with more vram will release soon. But i'm targeting rtx 3060 ti, does anyone know when rtx 3060 ti will restock. I'm targeting that gpu. or any suggestions that have same price with similar quality with rtx 3060 ti? [link] [comments]
Built first PC. Keeps turning on and off Posted: 13 Jan 2021 12:02 AM PST I just finished building my first pc and went to plug it in and turn it on. When I turned it on the CPU fan started and the light on my 1660 Super started glowing. I have two other fans that came wjth the case and they arent turning on either. Nothing pops up on my monitor either. It just goes on this same loop of turning on for around 30 seconda and shutting off. Everything seems to be connected properly. What can I do to fix this? Is my motherboard fried? Please let me know! Check the link for a video of what keeps happening. p.s. I built it on hardwood my room just has carpet [link] [comments]
Just added a new hard drive now computer will not turn on? Posted: 13 Jan 2021 05:21 AM PST Since adding the hard drive when I try to turn it on the gpu light flashes on and the cpu cooler turns on for a second and then turns off. I have made sure all wires are properly plugged in so am not sure of what it could be [link] [comments]
What Graphics Card would correlate well with an AMD RYZEN 7 3700X? Posted: 13 Jan 2021 09:35 AM PST I was thinking th RX5600 XT, but I've been trying to eye the elusive 3060 ti. What do you think? I've got all of the parts as if, but I just need the graphics cards. Might need more fans, though. [link] [comments]
Posted: 13 Jan 2021 06:04 AM PST Title basically lays it out. I ordered this https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B06WRRDS73/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and installed it today and it doesnt seem to be working. The radiator fan is working fine, but i'm not sure if water is running through. When I hold the pipes I can feel viberations but im not sure if that's just the viberations of the other fans and parts in my system. Any help is greatly appreciated. UPDATE: so after a bit of fiddling (taking plastic sheet off of cooler, oops. Mounting the radiator above the cooler and messing in the bios a little) I have managed to get my idle temps down to 42. And after doing a stress test it seems to really kick in around 50-60 degrees and I dont go above that. I think its just a strange cooler. Doesn't even try to cool the cpu at idle but will do a decent job once it needs to. Thanks for all the advice guys! [link] [comments]
Looking for hardware upgrade recommendations. Posted: 13 Jan 2021 09:35 AM PST I have a senior PC that I am looking to update with a new MB and CPU. My system is about 8 years old, and still going strong, but there are some issues I am hoping an upgrade will help out with. This system currently has; Intel DX79SR Motherboard i7 3930k 64gb Corsair Vengeance PC3 12800 (1600MHZ) Nvidia RTX 2070 GPU This is primarily an audio workstation (gaming at times) and I find that will not boot with certain peripherals attached. I've tried the legacy USB boot junk and it just won't go. I'd sure love to have everything connected and powered up without issue. My latest issue is adding an ASUS 4x expansion card for 4 NVMe SSDs. This MB doesn't support burfurcation, allowing 4 drives to appear through this expansion card. I'm hoping to increase storage space and speed with it. Which MB/CPU combo would you recommend to provide the most USB ports, connect at least 5 SATA drives, and work ok with my existing memory, in the interest of saving a few bucks? Posted: 13 Jan 2021 10:51 AM PST I'm planning on build a ryzen 5 3600 paired with a 3060ti and was wondering if this can firstly run modern games at a decently framerate at 1440p? [link] [comments]
Posted: 13 Jan 2021 09:35 AM PST My pc won't turn on but the ram sticks rgb turn on. I have tried plugging in all the cables again but it doesn't work. [link] [comments]
Looking for help with my upgrade to a Ryzen 5 5600x Posted: 13 Jan 2021 12:57 PM PST I currently have an old i5 7400 and a 1060 6gb. My budget is around 900$ (without graphics card) What my upgrade is looking like right now is;
I'd love for some input on PSU as I don't know how much watt i'd need for such a build and obviously the cheaper the better... No idea what SSD or HDD I should get as well. I'm most likely going to buy a used 1080 Ti or a new 3060 ti, nothing decided yet! I'm also not sure if going with a 5600x is the best, but looking at the performance and the fact that I will game and might record/stream it feels like a great option. Should I upgrade to the 5900x from 6700k? Posted: 13 Jan 2021 12:45 PM PST Hi, I currently own a 6700K with a 2080 Super and 32 DDR4 @ 2400. I have a friend who will give me a new 5900x for $595. Should I do it? Thanks. [link] [comments]
New G.Skill RAM kits updated for Ryzen 5000 series Posted: 13 Jan 2021 12:36 PM PST Does anyone know if the RAM kits mentioned in G.Skill's November 5th announcement are available for purchase yet? Here is the announcement on G.Skill's site: https://gskill.com/community/1502239313/1604585385/G.SKILL-Updates-Trident-Z-Neo-DDR4-Specs-Up-To-DDR4-4000-CL16-16GBx2-for-AMD-Ryzen-5000-CPUs The announcement says they will be available at the end of November but I'm not seeing AMD support in the QVLs. I found F4-4000C16D-32GTZR on G.Skill's site (and on newegg) which matches the specs in the announcement (DDR4-4000 16-19-19-39 1.40V) but the QVL doesn't show AMD support. Also, according to newegg, that product has been available since September, which would seem to imply it's not the same? https://www.gskill.com/qvl/165/166/1597040949/F4-4000C16D-32GTZR-Qvl Any help would be greatly appreciated as the rest of my parts have finally come in and I just need RAM to finally build my new rig [link] [comments]
Nividia 3060 has more vram than the 3060Ti? Posted: 13 Jan 2021 12:59 AM PST Hello everyone I saw today that nividia have announced the new 3060 coming out next month. It says it has 12 gb of vram. The Ti edition only has 8gb. I thought Ti is meant to be better? [link] [comments]
Posted: 13 Jan 2021 12:00 PM PST So I'm getting a new GPU tomorrow and it is either going to be the RTX 3070 FTW3 Ultra EVGA or the RTX 2080Ti Rog Strix. The 3070 was bought a week ago and the warranty hasnt been registered yet while the RTX 2080Ti is 1 year old and has warranty until 2022 The price for both of the cards is the exact same so price doesn't come in play here. I'm wondering which one should I get and why?? I'm going to use it for gaming at 1440p paired with a Ryzen 7 3700x. I'm not really interested in raytracing and all that I just want to know which of both cards will give me the best perfomance overall. So the main question here is, considering what I've said, which one should I buy and why? Thanks !! [link] [comments]
Posted: 13 Jan 2021 02:16 PM PST Today I went to a micro-center (Texas) most of the products were really expensive for what they are (Building my first PC) so I decided not buying in there. The thing is that I'm a afraid of online scammers, does anyone know a good online store for pc components? [link] [comments] |
