Really proud of my first build. Posted: 24 Nov 2020 09:13 PM PST Motherboard: AUROS B450MCPU: AMD RYZEN 5 3400gRAM: Hyper Fury X DDR4 2600hz 8gbx2Memory: Seagate 240gb SSD / WD 1tb HDDGPU: RX570 8gbPSU: XPower Series 600w 80+ I have a mediocre job and I was lucky during these quarantine I was able to save up to build myself a pc. Took me months as well to save up and research which will be the best parts suited for my budget and everyday use. I would like to know how can I maximize the performace of my build as well. Edit: A lot of people have been telling me to on XMP and I have enabled it via the BIOS, I appreciate the feedback from all of you. [link] [comments]
Posted: 25 Nov 2020 09:12 AM PST UPDATE: turned power on with the bios drive in place, having difficulty getting the bios flashed whish seems pretty common. Im currently waiting for Gigabyte to call me back for tech support. Pm's welcome to help resolve this. So I bought a Lancool II case about a month ago, no luck with the new cpus, or gpus, so I was just going to piece it together. I managed to go to microcenter yesterday and got the following: Ryzen 7 5800x Asus Tuf 3080 Aorus x570 elite wifi mobo Trident Z Neo 2x16Gb ram Samsung 970 plus m2 drive and an 860 ssd. I wasn't planning on spending what I did, but I had the most blessed timing. Everything is in place, I haven't powered it on yet. What do I need to do to make sure my mobo bios will accept the 5000 series Ryzen? I will post pics if requested. Also I picked up an anti sag bracket for the chonk of the gpu [link] [comments]
New builders: You need to insert an M.2 ssd in an angle, not straight. Posted: 25 Nov 2020 05:11 AM PST It was my first time installing an m.2 NVME ssd and I just laid it down and tried to push it inside. It went inside with quite a bang, as if something broke inside. For now everything works fine so I guess I'm good. But just know that you need to place the NVMe card at an angle into the connector, it will go inside all the way, and then you push it gently down(it's like a spring once it's connected), and then screw it Be careful not to break anything and happy building [link] [comments]
I need a <$250 chair with adjustable armrests and a high weight limit Posted: 25 Nov 2020 07:41 AM PST Last part is embarrassing, but I am working on it... I think 350 lbs/160 kg would be idea. My last one had a 250 limit and lost the ability to raise after a year or so. Doesn't have to look fancy, but should be comfortable and hopefully with back support. Looking for advice for first of build! Posted: 25 Nov 2020 10:58 AM PST I'm new to this and looking for advice. I tend to DIY almost everything in life. I like the savings, learning, and hands on aspect. Don't see why PCs would be any different. I enjoy buying mid level stuff where you just start to see diminishing rates of return on your money. In other words I don't need the BEST but I like knowing that I paid for something that's a bargain and can almost compete with the high end stuff. Ok, so with that I want to build a PC that will be very good for photo and video editing as well as the (very occasional) gaming. I will gladly spend up to $1200 excluding the peripherals and software. I was all set to follow this build https://fstoppers.com/originals/affordable-computer-build-photographers-and-videographers-346568 When I was told that these components are already outdated. Ok, starting with this list, what changes would you make to stay close to my budget and keep up with the times? Again I am new and part of the reason I liked this build was that I knew all the components would complement each other and (as silly as it sounds) I knew they would all fit together inside the case with minimal hassle. So some assurance there would really help sway me. I'd love to seize the opportunity this Black Friday and cyber Monday so hoping you could all help. Thanks in advance! Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite does not post - absolutely dead Posted: 25 Nov 2020 07:04 AM PST Hey guys, so, this really sucks - never had an issue like this in 20 years of very infrequent PC building :) Parts:
Put everything together, switched on the power. Theres a brief blue LED flash from the board when I switch the power supply from 0 to 1. After pressing the power button all the fans spin up (radiator, GPU, system). There is no output on HDMI. There is no beep (ok, no PC speaker so thats a given) or LED light. LAN lights are blinking. What I've tried so far:
Whats interesting is that the system won't let me power down by long-pressing the power button on the case. The power light just starts blinking as long as I press the button. I need to switch of the power supply to turn off the juice. Any ideas how to troubleshoot this? I do not have the slightest clue, as there are no status LEDs, no beeping, nothing. I know that the GPU works - at least it did for the past years until yesterday evening. Maybe the GPU is just too old to run on this board? Thanks for your efforts. Heeeeeeelp :( [link] [comments]

First build wont turn on please help Posted: 25 Nov 2020 12:34 PM PST Hey Everyone I just finished putting together my first build and went to turn it on. All the fans started spinning, the RGB ram lit up, the GPU is lit up, the AIO seems to be working but my computer screen is black. Can someone please help advise what I should be looking at that may be the issue. I can provide pictures or more details if that'd help. [link] [comments]
Trip Report from my journey to Microcenter Posted: 25 Nov 2020 05:48 AM PST Waited on line for about 4 hours this morning at the local microcenter, to see what I could get. Here's what the employee said when they came out. No AMD anything No PS5 No Xbox ever Was able to snag a 3080 TUF so not a wasted trip, but was hoping for a 6800xt. Looks like the paper launch was real for AMD, the 5-7x stock AIB cards don't exist and there is no anticipated date for their appearance here so far, just a heads up for yall. Good luck everyone [link] [comments]
Intel vs Ryzen CPU's (for low end build) Posted: 25 Nov 2020 01:03 PM PST So I saw this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/buildmeapc/comments/k0q9aq/400_budget_build/ and people were recommending Ryzen CPU's for this persons build. I've been thinking about building something similar (similar price point as well) for my parents for web browsing and whatnot that will last a while. Except I was considering a i3-10100 ($100 at microcenter nearby, no gpu necessary) and haven't decided on the motherboard yet (suggestions?). What are the advantages of going the Ryzen route? Faster? Cheaper? [link] [comments]
1st PC Build w/ couple of issues. Completely lost - Please Help! Posted: 24 Nov 2020 04:58 PM PST I just posted on r/pcmasteracebuilds but thought this community would be able to help also. Hi All - I need some help. I built my first pc a little over 6 weeks ago. I have been dealing with issues ever since booting it up for the first time. As much as the family loves it when it gets booted up, it has caused me so much frustration that it has really ruined my experience. Context: I wanted to get a great PC to grow with my family for the next 5 years. I really went all out. Spent over 7k for the entire setup(including peripherals). My son loves to play Fortnite and I wanted to give him a great machine to game on. My daughter wants to start streaming so I wanted to make sure I had something she can stream on with little issues. Specs:
Issues: 1st Issue - It boots automatically to BIOS every time. Every. Single. F$%^ing. Time.
I have added some pictures of the PC parts to ensure there is no confusion or I missed something. See links below FINAL PLEA I do not know what to do anymore. I am so dejected right now...This should be an absolute beast of a machine and it has been a total nightmare! I have already spent over $400 trying to get "experts" to figure out the issues to no avail.. I will send whatever pictures needed and am open to any recommendations. Please help...please. Does it matter significantly if a GPU has 2 or 3 fans? Posted: 25 Nov 2020 12:37 PM PST Basically the title, i am just wondering if it matters whether it has 2 or 3 fans, I am planning on buying rtx 3070 so it might affect more. [link] [comments]
Posted: 25 Nov 2020 02:08 PM PST Hello - I am putting together a parts list to build my first PC. I am hoping to cash in on some Black Friday savings. Using the "Entry Level AMD Gaming Build" list on PcPP (first link below), I made some updates to have it suit my needs (parts listed below).https://pcpartpicker.com/guide/PB6MnQ/entry-level-amd-gaming-build I'm hoping to stay within $600-700 for the "main" PC parts and ideally under $1000 when including keyboard, mouse, monitor, etc. The main focus is for gaming. I do not plan to play too many high-end games (most just World of Warcraft). Are there any areas that can be improved or are currently being overpriced? [link] [comments]
What's a solid contender for a 144hz gaming monitor under $200? Posted: 25 Nov 2020 01:59 PM PST I've been seeing deals pop up but, truth be told, I can't seem to understand what the "good" and "bad" picks are. I do like the thought of bigger and curved displays but I understand if that's out of budget. [link] [comments]
Upgrade system from i5-2500k (RTX 2060S) Posted: 25 Nov 2020 01:57 PM PST As sad it is, its finally time to retire my trusty i5-2500k. I built my first computer in 2012 and have since replaced every single other component (including the case, mobo, HDDs...all of it) for one reason or another, but that CPU has just kept trucking on. However, I recently went from a GTX 970 to RTX 2060 Super and I'm getting massive CPU throttling in a lot of games. What are the best recommendations for CPUs in 2020 to pair with my GPU? I'm currently gaming at 1080p/60Hz (I know, I know), but I'll probably move to something up to 2560×1440ish/75Hz shortly. I value consistent FPS over crazy high resolution/refresh AND mostly future-proofed systems (I prefer to replace components every 3-4 years, no sooner). Edit: Forgot to mention budget. I'd like to be in the <$250ish range if possible. [link] [comments]
32GB RAM for 4K gaming: worth it? Posted: 25 Nov 2020 01:48 PM PST So I'm stuck between getting a 32GM RAM or keeping my 16 one which is, by the way, 7 years old. I'm not sure if that fact has to do with anything but I'll just get to the point. Since I'll be getting a RTX 3080 and I aim to play with 4K, are these 32GB BETTER than the 16? I saw a really juicy discount on a 2x16 RAM and I've been told to go for it but I'm not sure. [link] [comments]
Thinking about ordering these parts soon. Posted: 25 Nov 2020 11:40 AM PST Hello,im going to order my parts at the end of the week and would love some extra eyes on my parts to ensure i buy what combines the best. I would love for it to be able to run bluestacks with 2 instances, and eve-online with 7 instances at the same time without issue's as my current pc is unable to. Furthermore i would love to play the newer tripple A titles with RTX on, as i just love the way that looks. i play on 1080p 60hz so i expect to be able to with this set-up. The 860 SSD's and the G.SKill ram i have bought today, as both had a great sale in my area.
EDIT: Part availibilty is not a problem for me, as my local store the only thing they dont have is the cpu and gpu. CPU should arive soon, and for GPU i will get a loaner untill actuall GPU arives. [link] [comments]

Posted: 25 Nov 2020 06:04 AM PST Hello! I'm planning my first build and want some opinions on the parts I picked. CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING ATX AM4 Motherboard RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory Storage: (1) Seagate Barracuda Compute 2 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (2) Western Digital Blue SN550 500 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive GPU: MSI GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER 8 GB GAMING X Video Card Case: Lian Li Lancool II Mesh ATX Mid Tower Case PSU: Corsair RM (2019) 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply Cost: About 1150 Regarding me — I'm a casual gamer, but I wanted something that would last me a long time and could handle most, if not everything, I threw at it decently well (I'm okay with playing with lower settings to get better FPS). I also plan to upgrade it in the far, far future. Please let me know what you think of it. Anything I should change or swap? Any complications or possible issues? Thanks! -removed cooler -switched storage -switched ram [link] [comments]
Dell Motherboard 24 pin is too small Posted: 25 Nov 2020 12:23 PM PST Have a prebuilt Dell thats pretty old not sure what year maybe around 2010ish. Im trying to replace the power supply but the 24 pin connecter is too small for a standard 24 pin. Do I need to buy a proprietary cable from Dell? [link] [comments]
Are these good to go or should I need to change some? Posted: 25 Nov 2020 02:20 PM PST I'm finally gonna buy all the parts within this week (especially on black friday and cyber monday) and I just need a feedback on the parts I've picked to build my first ever PC https://pcpartpicker.com/list/f2ZTmk I actually planned on getting the gigabyte b550 wifi mobo at first. for the gpu I still don't know what to pick, I heard from here and on youtube that you should get a gpu that is compatible with your cpu or smthing that's why I wanted to ask help what's the best option to get for a build like this. Posted: 25 Nov 2020 02:13 PM PST Troubleshooting Help:https://pcpartpicker.com/list/wxRPfP (Note I am using my old GPU until my 3080 arrives.) Brand new PC build. Everything working fine however once I boot into windows I get an intermittent high-pitched buzzing/chirping from the PSU. However, as soon as I put the system under load (i.e. Prime95) it becomes constant. I'm not seeing any errors/crashes however the noise is both highly irritating and highly concerning. I have checked all the connections, ensured everything is firmly plugged in. I have also verified that the noise is directly correlated with system load (i.e. starts and stops pretty much on queue with me starting/stopping Prime95). [link] [comments] |
