Posted: 01 Aug 2020 02:47 PM PDT https://www.msi.com/Promotion/shout-out-for-msi-product (https://archive.is/kOGsy) Edit: Yes, "were" should be "are", because that reads better in the title. While this promotion has already ended (June 16th ~ July. 17th, 2020), it leaves a bad taste in the mouth when you see none of the other vendors doing the same thing. As with similar schemes, this kind of thing turns the consumer into a walking billboard for the product. But here the difference is that MSI is curating the reviews that are eligible for rewards, and those that ultimately win. MSI is giving out credits to the value of $16 for submitted and "approved" reviews, and the chance to win a prize. Not only that, MSI's Rewards Program requires you to write a review on [X] site and then submit it to MSI to be "approved". https://download.msi.com/archive/mnu_exe/pdf/Reward-Review-Shout-Out-For-MSI-See-full-instruction.pdf (https://archive.vn/bRWei) And all the way at the bottom:
This isn't like other paid review schemes in the past, but this is a bad look nonetheless. MSI is not only approving reviews for eligibility for the credit rewards and sweepstakes, they're going to give 30 owners their 15 minutes of fame for the 15 minutes they're probably going to spend running benchmarks, and those reviews are carefully selected to present the product in the best possible light. "Top" reviews are based on criteria that MSI sets for themselves. Of those 30, only MSI determines who's worthy enough for the highest-value rewards. 28 "Top" reviews get a $100 Steam card. The other two get physical products. Essentially there are 28 people tying for third place here. [link] [comments] | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Core i9-10850K Application & Gaming Performance Posted: 02 Aug 2020 12:56 AM PDT Korean website Quasarzone tested the Core i9-10850K in 9 applications (Cinebench R20, 7-Zip, V-Ray, Blender, Handbrake, Adobe Media Encoder, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop) and 8 games (Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Civilization VI, Resident Evil 3 Remake, Total War: Three Kingdoms, Borderlands 3, Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, Rainbow Six: Siege, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019). The gaming performance on 1% minimum frame rates is completely on par with the Core i9-10900K, while the application performance is -2.6% lower. The overclocking result is as well -100 MHz lower (10850K oc'ed @ 5.0 GHz) as on the Core i9-10900K (oc'ed @ 5.1 GHz).
