Why have modern cpu been the specific wattage they have? Posted: 01 May 2020 05:18 PM PDT I noticed we usually see 35w, 65w, 95w, and 105w cpu, with some rare cases where it's far more. But despite some research I couldn't find an answer as to why those numbers were selected specifically. Why 35w instead of 20, 40? Why 65 and 95 instead of 50, 75, 100, etc. [link] [comments] |
From a technical perspective, what really differentiate SFX PSU from regular PSU ? Posted: 01 May 2020 06:45 PM PDT I'm speaking about the inner components. Are they just crammed tighter in a SFX PSU or are the components different ? What sacrifices must be made by manufacturer to pack 750w capacity within a tight space like the Corsair 750w sfx psu ? I tried to look for myself, but it's hard to find picture of the inside of those psu that are clear enough to see everything. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 May 2020 02:06 AM PDT I can't seem to hit the right keywords on Google so I'm not getting the information I want regarding this topic. I'm not looking to discuss about singular vs multiple channels but talking about having more vs fewer sticks in total, while keeping the number of channels constant. There is a phenomenon where having multiple RAM sticks (4x8gb in dual channel) would actually improve performance as opposed to fewer sticks (2x16gb in dual channel) because of how fetching and writing can be dispered among the sticks. I can't remember the terminology of it but the idea is similar to that of RAID 0. On the other hand, I assume that more RAM sticks would induce a higher workload on the IMC and can essentially also increase the fetch/write times in that manner. Ultimately, I understand this comes down to more variables than mentioned above such as what CPU is being used and what motherboard is being used, but I was hoping not to come to a conclusion on which is preferable, instead on learning more about it because my googling skills need some work at this point. If anyone can point me in the right direction on where I could read up on this particular topic (especially the one about more RAM sticks potentially being better), I'd be grateful. Posted: 01 May 2020 06:21 AM PDT Updated it from the previous one with a new methodology that is more consistent between all measurements. Previously I was still figuring out the best way to measure things and therefore earlier measurements were done differently to later ones. Also added disclaimer in image. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 May 2020 06:50 AM PDT NEW CASE LEAKED!!!I loved the Define 7 but hated the excess room for drives in the front that made everything look small. The new white is beautiful; dark black and tinted TG as well.https://imgur.com/a/LXMii0D can't post retailer links so here they are. Nooo, they removed the fan hub :( [link] [comments] |

Is there a chance of passive cooling Motherboards for upcoming X670 AMD platform? Posted: 01 May 2020 11:34 AM PDT I just don't feel good about active cooling MB bridges. This is another moving part with a proprietary fan which will die out at some point. Unlike case fans, it is not as easily replaceable. Do we have any hope of getting a X670 board design with passive cooling? Thanks [link] [comments] |

Asus z490 motherboards pcie 4.0 ready? Posted: 01 May 2020 06:00 PM PDT Looks like a few vendors are putting on all the components to make their z490 motherboards pcie 4.0 ready. Several are even advertising this but not Asus. Hoping someone will be able to confirm which/if any of the new asus z490 motherboards are pcie 4.0 ready. Yes I know comet lake doesnt support it=) If they arent that would be something everyone should know about their hardware vs other vendors THANKS a BUNCH!! [link] [comments] |
