    Scammer Lists

    If a user you're in contact with seems fishy, check BOTH of these lists to make sure they're not on them. If they are, ignore them and move on. They're on them for a reason.

    Flipping

    This happens all the time, but because of the current events there has been an increase in demand for certain products. This includes but is not limited to Nintendo Switches, webcams, Valve Index, SFF cases, etc. Inevitably, the prices for these items will go up if the quantity demanded isn't being produced fast enough or stops altogether. The following also applies to items that were obtained through pricing errors:

    Whether people bought them for personal reasons and decided to take advantage of the current market or to simply resell doesn't matter. An item is worth what the current market dictates it to be, not what you think it should be. Even if it's over MSRP. Unless you can find a link where it is currently available to be purchased for less than the price being asked, stop posting derogatory comments. If you have a link, post it and move on. We're not here to call people out on their intentions and/or derail a thread because of them. If they're not willing to cooperate, then that's on them. Their items simply won't sell. No need to press the issue any further. A refresher for those that don't read the rules:

    Rule enforcement

    c. A seller is allowed to post any price they feel is appropriate. If you wish to critique pricing, you must provide links to sites or threads where the item is currently available to be purchased for less or has recently sold for a lower price. Must be the exact same item, in the exact same condition. This is what we refer to as 'price policing'. Comments that suggest a price is too high without proving proof of it are not allowed.

    d. Do not use corporate sales or pricing errors as a reference for an item's worth. Microcenter and eBay auction links are not acceptable reference points.

    Attitude

    b. Being rude or harassing another member of the community is prohibited and repeated infractions will result in an immediate and permanent ban.

    Just like we don't remove posts that ask for items under the realistic market price, we don't remove posts that are asking above MSRP? Why? Because the market will handle it. If an item is really worth what the person is asking to buy or sell it for, then it will be sold/bought for that price. If it doesn't, then that user will have to adjust their price/budget until they're able to make the trade. We don't need several users posting smart ass comments and repeating what's already being said.

    Yes, I know that this community is known for having good deals but not a requirement to post here. It's simply the free market in action. We're not here to regulate what prices should be, so if you're actually interested in an item, make a realistic offer or move on. Note that offering MSRP for an item when it's selling well above that won't do anything for you, so don't waste your time arguing why you shouldn't pay over MSRP.

    Not kidding, for a finder's fee and shipping I am looking for a stick of DDR4 ECC Unbuffered, any size, that has at least single-bit errors. "Goldilocks" would be a stick that throws errors in production, but still allows the machine to boot. It'll be used in a SuperMicro X11SSH-F to test IPMI and OS-level ECC alerting. More a research project than anything else.

    I already have a wondrous list of ways to introduce ECC errors:
    Rowhammer
    A pair of wires / needles
    A heat lamp
    A heat gun

    With the exception of rowhammer, which relies on susceptible RAM, those all sound too scary to try for just a curiosity project.

    So I've posted this before, but didn't get much traction I made an offer on an old 2600K and never got a reply. Think I insulted him. (If you see this, I'm sorry!) and I'm hoping I reach some more people this time. I hope the title doesn't come across as rude!

    I need an 1155 i7. Preferably 3770/3770K/3770S. Upgrading an old system. Sandy Bridge i7's are acceptable (beggars can't be choosers, amirite?) but other CPU's on different sockets don't interest me unless you have a MOBO to go with it. It's mostly out of a wish to simplify things, not have to chase after every little part, although if the price on the CPU you offer is a good one, I would be willing to do the chasing.

    So I guess there are no rules, actually...

    I'm looking to build a budget Franken-PC for me to game on while I sit at home with a grade 2 ankle sprain during a quarantine. My old system is getting long in the tooth.
