    A guide to a priori avoidance of Bufferbloat (buffering-induced latency spikes) in wireless routers and access points

    I wrote a short guide on how to do this at r/HomeNetworking. Unfortunately, due to this sub's continued restriction on crossposting (which really harms efficient dissemination of information), I can only link to it here.

    Why is it possible for the ROG phone 2 to have a 120hz amoled display, but there is (afaik) no 120hz amoled monitor?

    Posted: 20 Apr 2020 08:27 AM PDT

    Also are there 120hz+ 4K monitors?

    PCIe, DMI, DRAM

    Posted: 20 Apr 2020 08:02 AM PDT

    The operating system requests a block from storage, sends a request to a SATA device connected to a PCIe link on the PCH. The SATA controller does a DMA transfer to main memory. How is this data moving through the system?

    PCIe -> PCH -> DMI -> CPU die (memory controller) -> DRAM

    or

    PCIe -> PCH -> DRAM

    on a typical off the shelf intel system.

    How about QLC SSD drives disadvantages in practice?

    Posted: 20 Apr 2020 04:46 AM PDT

    I would like to upgrade the SSD in my laptop and I planning to go with Crucial P1 which is a QLC SSD. I know the disadvantages of a QLC drive, so as the cache is full, the speed radically drops down, even under a HDD speed which is scary.
    But how the cache works? I mean I saw tests where people moved files over 100GB size and this is not lifelike to me. I move 10-100 or maximum 1GB of files at once and during the day my maximum read/write capacity is around 20-30GB I guess (I do music editing).
    So I tried to figure out how the cache works? Is it filled up and being empty once it's full, or what is the protocol? I try to find out if I should feel any of the disadvantages or not. :)
    Thanks for your help in advance!
