Intel Core i7-10875H vs. AMD Ryzen 9 4900HS Benchmark Compilation

    Posted: 25 Apr 2020 10:57 PM PDT

    Appl. Perf. Core i9-9980H Core i9-9980HK Ryzen 9 4900HS Core i7-10875H @45W Core i7-10875H @52W Core i7-10875H @62W
    Hardware Coffee Lake, 8C/16T, 2.3/4.8 GHz, 45W Coffee Lake, 8C/16T, 2.4/5.0 GHz, 45W Zen 2, 8C/16T, 3.0/4.3 GHz, 35W Comet Lake, 8C/16T, 2.4/5.3 GHz Comet Lake, 8C/16T, 2.4/5.3 GHz Comet Lake, 8C/16T, 2.4/5.3 GHz
    ComputerBase (8 tests) - - 100% 82% - 95%
    Hardwareluxx (6 tests) - - 100% - 94% -
    Notebookcheck (5 tests) 86% 88% 100% - 91% -
    TechSpot (12 tests) 90% - 100% 91% - 96%

    • Ryzen 9 4900HS wins every review (if based on more than 4 benchmarks), despite a TDP of only 35W
    • more TDP (power limit) helps the Core i7-10875H, but even on 62W it loses vs. Ryzen 9 4900HS
    • Core i7-10875H aka Come Lake looks like just a little bit faster than Coffee Lake
    • Core i7-10875H performance is clearly impacted by a lower or higher TDP (power limit), but some tests see a strong impact (ComputerBase: +16% between 45W and 62W) and some tests a small impact (TechSpot: +5% between 45W and 62W)

Do 4K budget TVs perform better than high-end 1080p TVs from 10 years ago?

    Posted: 26 Apr 2020 01:42 AM PDT

For example, would something from 2011- 1080p Samsung Series 7 55inch (UA55D7000), still hold up compared to budgets 4K TVs now? Like the 4K Hisense K680?

Or would they be completely outmatched?

What happens after we get to "0"nanometer?

    Posted: 25 Apr 2020 07:20 PM PDT

Seeing all these companies roadmaps for process reductions it looks like we are not very long from getting to the point where stuff can't get any smaller. I know there's going to be changes on designs and materials, but where's the limit?

Can somebody give me an eli5(as extensive as youd like) about the upcoming future of computers beyond transitors?
