When do you suspect computer and peripherals will become predominantly USB C?

    Posted: 29 Apr 2020 05:47 AM PDT

Like going to the store to buy a keyboard/mouse/flash drive for your older USB A computer and they are all USB-C so you need to also buy an adapter. Opposite of how you need adapters today for MacBook Pros since they are only USB C.

Forrester research on PC use trends in business

    Posted: 28 Apr 2020 04:52 PM PDT

Intel commissioned Forrester Research to survey business IT leaders on the future of PC in their work places. Of course Intel is using this to push their product lines but the conclusions are broadly applicable to business IT:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AsmDippaQ70

    Key data points:

    • 87% of IT leaders say PC is still central to their business
    • Same (presumably) 87% say user experience drives employee experience
    • 54% rate improving PC performance as still priority number 1, other priorities are speed up detection and remediation of vulnerabilities (49%), and improve ability to remotely support employees (47%)
    • 56% of work places have invested in cloud based device management
    • 85% still think updating to new PCs important
    • Only 40% of companies believe they can successfully secure their PCs
    • 29% are looking at "device as a service" models and providers
