What kind of board smart home devices usually use? What are the cost? is it in house or third party?

    Posted: 07 Feb 2020 10:30 PM PST

What kind of board devices like fire tv, or any other smart home devices use? What I mean specifically is the main board, and are they designed from scratch just for that device or they order them from a third party?

Any information on this would be helpful. I'm really interested to know how they source their hardware. Is it in house design? is it outsourced? what are the price points for them to make it worth it? etc.

Mobile and Desktop CPU/GPU, What's the catch?

    Posted: 07 Feb 2020 05:32 AM PST

According to various tests mobile CPUs/GPUs have been catching up with (and exceeding) their entry to mid level desktop counterparts.

While this does indeed sound great for a future where we get high performance with low power consumption...I can't help but think that part of that equation is missing?

I mean, it sounds skeptical to me how say a CPU/GPU that uses 5W can outperform another made in the same year that draws 60W or more. Surely there is something not taken into account here?
