Why do bluetooth headphones and earbuds use SBC or APTX codecs? Posted: 11 Jan 2020 09:34 AM PST SBC is capable of bit rates up to 328 kbps. If you want to stream a 320kbps MP3 song why does it reencode it with APTX codec further degrading the quality. And why don't they just send the original codec of the song (such as MP3 ,AAC , Opus) . If you stream FLAC or bigger file it makes sense to encode it to fit in the 328kbps bitrate (And why not use Opus or Mp3 instead of SBC) but why do it for even smaller files. OPUS codec is transparent at 192kpbs which is way less than SBC's maximum bitrate . [link] [comments] |
