FIRST BUILD Choosing between rtx 2060s and rx 5700 xt Posted: 12 Jan 2020 08:56 AM PST Looking at the zotac rtx 2060 super AMP or the rtx 5700 xt sapphire nitro plus for my first build. I understand the latter is the better card but have been put off by the driver complaints. As mentioned this is my first build and I have minimal knowledge on drivers etc and so would struggle troubleshooting if there were many problems thus I'm leaning towards the rtx 2060. Do you think this is the right choice or are the driver problems with the 5700 exaggerated? [link] [comments]
PC shuts down instantly after turning on Posted: 12 Jan 2020 09:01 AM PST I took everything apart and now it's just down to barebones. I reapplied thermal paste to CPU, put heat sink back on and plug 2 memory sticks back in, I plugged up PSU and hooked up the CPU power and motherboard power. When I go to turn it on, it will immediately shut back off, like less than half a seconds time. Can't be an overheating issue. I have a PSU tester and the PSU works just fine, I also tested it with a different known working PSU but it does the same. Is there a short on motherboard and it's toast now? Posted: 12 Jan 2020 10:02 AM PST Just finished my first ever build. I went for a dark look with red details. The theme is Venom and the build name is «Ryze of Venom» hehe. I'm still waiting for custom length black sleeved cables. Really looking forward to chucking them inside for some final detail work. I haven't done much OCing yet. Still learning Ryzen. Have clocked the ram to 3600 MHz stable with C15 latency using dram calculator and validated with memtest86. Applied the required settings for 1usmus power plan in the BIOS. The 3900x is running at acceptable 35C idle. Not too happy with 80 C in stress tests. I think it will get a little better once I get the custom length cables. Those that came with the PSU were overkill for a "SFF" build. Also installed a dust filter at the bottom of the case. The stock 5700 XT whipped some dust from the nooks and crannies at the bottom of the NZXT H210i, which to my great irritation showed well on the tempered glass side panel. My monitor is a 27" Asus TUF VG27AQ. [link] [comments]
First time builders considering 5700XT Posted: 12 Jan 2020 08:31 AM PST I'm gonna keep this short and sweet but if your new at building a pc the building part is the fun part. The amd driver issues Im running into make it a miserable experience. In two weeks I had to use a program called DDU to completely remove my GPUs drivers and redownload. As a new guy to building this was unexpected and unmentioned by anyone I talked to and it didn't come up in any of the post I read suggesting a 5700xt gpu. While now I have it running and it's running fine for now it was definitely a pita trying to fix. When the gpu driver software (Adrenalin 2020) updated twice now it basically made my gpu seem broken. Black screens blue screens and completely shutting down my system. Fix both times was to delete drivers with DDU and reinstall and edit some settings like hardware acceleration in discord. This is not a card to recommend to new guys trying to get a pc up and running. I kept thinking over and over in my head a hundred times or more thinking I did something wrong when building it. But nope just shitty drivers. Just sharing my thoughts and I felt the need to save a newby like myself a headache and share this post. Posted: 12 Jan 2020 02:21 AM PST Building a Ryzen 3600 computer and been doing a LOT of research on graphics cards the past week. Just as i'm about to fork out for a 2060S i start thinking i could cut £100-200 off my build if i settle for less. I'm pretty sure i'm settling on 24inch 1080p. I considered 1440p but i realised how much a 144hz 1440p would cost and i don't think its optimal for Counter-Strike even though i also want to play a lot of new games. Do i really need such a powerful graphics card right now or will i best off upgrading in several years? [link] [comments]
RTX 2080Ti underperforming a GTX 1080 Posted: 12 Jan 2020 01:32 AM PST Just got an RTX 2080Ti (replacing GTX 1080) and started running it through a few benchmark tests and games. It performs at par or worse to the GTX1080. Windows and all drivers are updated. I'm beginning to suspect a faulty card. Any suggestions on what I can do before I go submit an RMA? i7 7700k or Ryzen 5 2600 for after effects? need help Posted: 12 Jan 2020 06:59 AM PST Hey, as the title says I need some advice. Ive done some research but I cant get to a conclusion. Should I use a i7 7700k or a ryzen 5 2600 for after effects? [link] [comments]
Thank all of you for being such a great community! Ready to present my 3700X + 5700XT build! Posted: 12 Jan 2020 02:01 PM PST After 7 years I decided to build a new PC, since my old one was not capable to play newer games at all. (3rd gen i5 with a GTX 560) With the help of this Sub I think I was able to put together a decent PC:
Through various discounts around Black Friday I was able to "only" pay ~1380€, thus saving over 150€! As for now I am really happy with my build and only have had minor issues with the AMD Drivers. (On the other hand I was not able to play many different games by now) I got curious about RAM OC and used the DRAM-Calculator as well as this guide (https://github.com/integralfx/MemTestHelper/blob/master/DDR4%20OC%20Guide.md) to tune my RAM. Today I finally found a (hopefully) stable setting! I run my RAM at 16-19-19-21-37-58 Trfc 494, somehow I was not able to get Trp under 21. Maybe I will do some more tweaking in the future, but for now I am very pleased with the results :) https://imgur.com/a/RnRwyzd Thanks again for all your help, you guys rock! Issues with crashing with new build Posted: 12 Jan 2020 06:25 AM PST Hi Friends, I just built myself a new computer, primarily to be used for gaming, but I'm experiencing some issues with games crashing and I can't seem to troubleshoot. I've listed below the components of my PC. The issue started when I ran Monster Hunter World: Iceborn, but when I searched around it seemed as though multiple people were having crashing issues for different reasons. I tried running Skyrim (no mods) and it's crashing as I try and load a save/start a new game. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers for my GPU and CPU with no effect. It should be noted that I'm also sporting a new monitor with higher resolution than my old one (also listed below), and this is my first time with a dual monitor setup. I am running Windows 10 (purchased). I'm not extraordinarily computer savvy, so please be nice with your language/terminology. Any help that you can offer would be greatly appreciated! GPU: AMD Radeon RX 5700XT CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X MB: Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite PSU: EVGA 650GQ RAM: 16GB DDR4 SSD: Intel 660p Thank you! What works for my ideal Portable VR pc Posted: 12 Jan 2020 12:45 PM PST I have a 6 year old gaming build I did in high school that suits me well, it has a fx4300 and a 660ti. I mainly use it now for FL studio on my dual screen setup in my bedroom, and I move it to the living room to run me and my girlfriends VIVE. The CPU is a huge bottle neck for not only vr but my DAC which lags heavily. I'm planning on keeping the old setup for schoolwork and my girlfriend to use when we play together but I want to build the new one to be semi portable so I can use it in the living room and easily take it to our bedroom when I need to work on music or want to make use of our ultra wide display. I'm looking to build within a 500 dollar budget, I already purchased a gtx 1660 which I will be using but I have no idea if I should go mini ITX or not. Posted: 12 Jan 2020 02:21 PM PST Hi folks, So I've had this build for a few years now:
As you might imagine, it's getting a little old, I'm also aware my RAM is a mess) and I think the CPU is the bottleneck (I'm open to being told otherwise though). I'd like to upgrade it, and I gather Ryzen is hot right now. I've been playing around with upgrades that will allow me to play AAA games at 1080p, 60fps at a low enough cost. I've put together this:
I wonder if you could let me know if I'm on the right track, or if maybe I need to rethink my plan? I don't mind sticking with intel if it's worth it (but I'm not up to date with with CPU socket compatibility) [link] [comments]
I need help building a pc around $1200. Does this look good? Posted: 12 Jan 2020 12:01 PM PST
Posted: 12 Jan 2020 06:41 AM PST I have been using a "Cherry G230" (cheap, old pice of junk) for a while now because it worked and I was too stingy to get something better. But now it is starting to fall apart; five keys fell out or broke and the media keys got sticky! It is about time I get a replacement! And with the gigantic number of keyboards I could really use some help choosing / finding one that works. I don't care about RGB! I need my play/pause, skip and volume controls. I guess one thing I liked about the g230 is that the keys did not have very sharp edges. Price does not really matter. I think I can treat myself now that I pretty much ran my old keyboard into the ground. Maybe some of you want to know what I do on pc: Playing games, editing images and sometimes video. Any reccomendation is appreciated! [link] [comments]
Posted: 12 Jan 2020 04:09 AM PST Trying to decide if if a nvme ssd with a read of 1500 and write of 1300 is noticeably better than a standard ssd with a read of 520 and write of 500. The difference is a about 10 usd [link] [comments]
Posted: 12 Jan 2020 11:32 AM PST My pc keeps restarting with no warning, no error or blue screen, just a hard restarts. I can't figure out what the issue is, I've tried testing my gpu but that's fine, all my drivers are up to date. My friend thinks it's a ram issue and I ran mem test before I went to bed and woke up to it being restarted. Chipset drivers are up to date. Could it be a short? Ram? Windows? I've had my pc for a few months and have had no issues at all. In need of desperate help as I'm new to pc and have no idea what I'm doing. Any help is appreciated. EDIT: PC Specs: - Ryzen 5 3600 - B450 Tomahawk MAX - 16gb Ballistix sport LT 3200 - Sapphire Pulse RX 5700 with an XT bios flashed - 1tb NVME M.2 Sabrent Rocket - 2 1tb WD HDD - Bitfenix Formula Gold 650W [link] [comments]

No Bluetooth on my PC (MSI B450 Tomahawk Max) Posted: 12 Jan 2020 11:31 AM PST After trying to connect my PS4 controller wirelessly to my PC, I realized it doesn't have Bluetooth capabilities. I looked under Device Manager and it is not there, so I did Bluetooth troubleshooting and it says it doesn't have Bluetooth on it. My motherboard is an MSI B450 Tomahawk Max and I cannot find any Bluetooth drivers on their website. If you have any idea how I can get Bluetooth on my PC any help would be great. Edit: So apparently that board doesn't have Bluetooth so I need an adapter. PS4 controller are weird and have less input lag with Bluetooth than wired. Will having to use a Bluetooth adapter add any input lag (vs if the board game with Bluetooth)? [link] [comments]

Posted: 12 Jan 2020 01:27 PM PST Edit: Can somebody recommend a good PSU checker? I have a Seasonic Prime Ultra 650W Gold that I suspect could have killed the CPU over time. I'm not sure the motherboard (X570 Aorus Elite) would be the killer culprit, but PBO was enabled. [link] [comments] |
