Best 1440P 144Hz Monitor Under $300? Posted: 30 Dec 2019 11:10 AM PST Hey all, I'm looking to possibly return my MSI Optix MAG27CQ ( keep seeing people say the monitor has noticeable ghosting ) that I bought not too long ago. First off, if anyone has used it, how is the monitor itself? I haven't been able to test it just yet. Also, if I were to return it, what is the best monitor I can buy through MicroCenter under $350-$400 that offered 1440P 144HZ with little to no ghosting and low response time. Desk and chair recommendations for people tall people? Posted: 30 Dec 2019 06:53 AM PST I'm 6'2 and a broad shouldered dude. I work from home infront of a PC all day and game in the evening -- and I always feel so cramped and my back kills me. Do you guys have any recommendations? Posted: 30 Dec 2019 12:40 PM PST So I built a PC (my first). Here are the specs R5 2600 MSI B450 Gaming pro carbon AC Corsair Vengeance RGB pro ram (2x8gb, 3200mhz but I have left xmp off for now) XFX RX5700 DD Corsair RM650x Tell me if you need more The problem is that when I have made an installation media and try to boot from it, I get a black screen. I can get into the BIOS fine. I only have a MacBook, I don't have a PC running Windows (yet). Therefore, I cannot use the official tool for creating installation medias from Microsoft. So far I have tried: Reset all BIOS settings Create installation media via Boot Camp Assistant Create installation media via terminal Download Etcher (the download keeps crashing) Different USB port on MoBo Sorry if formatting looks horrible Please tell me if you need more info, Hopefully someone can help Thanks in advance [link] [comments]
Got the MSI X570 Gaming EDGE WIFI for 160$ on sale, good deal or should i return? Posted: 30 Dec 2019 04:47 AM PST So i got this Mobo on sale for Christmas as i really wanted wifi and bluetooth in my pc. My friend recommended me the B450 Carbon before for these features. I'm not really sure about the rest of my build yet other than that i will be getting a AMD 3600. I'm reading a lot of reviews which say that even though X570 is good, this one is worse than some comparable Mobos in that price range, did i fall into a trap by seeing this massive discount? Worth losing a warranty for a third-party GPU cooler? Posted: 30 Dec 2019 11:04 AM PST How many of you have owned a card that explicitly says "if you take this apart and put on a cooler, you lose your warranty", and went ahead and did it anyway? Sapphire and powercolor are two examples of manufacturers who have zero tolerance for opening the card. While XFX, Gigabyte, and EVGA say you can. I love my build, but my Sapphire 5700xt pulse is the loudest component. It would be an easy switch to an arctic accelero or rajintek Morpheus. How many GPUs actually fail? Sometimes, right? But then sometimes, it's just warranty anxiety. Technically, better cooling would increase the card's lifespan. Would you do it to lose the warranty but gain better temps and low noise? Saved over $350 at Micro Center for my first PC build! Posted: 30 Dec 2019 12:10 PM PST I saw a TON of people recommending Micro Center on reddit and youtube, especially for lower end builds due to their $30 CPU + motherboard combo deal (it's now $20 i believe). I'm also the type that doesn't want to wait a day or more my the parts to be shipped, so I decided to take the 40 minute trip to my local store for my first build. My immediate impression was just how much stock they have. They have pretty much every current generation CPU, GPU, motherboard, CPU coolers, monitors, keyboards, etc. Anyways, these are the parts that I was looking for, and the prices found on Amazon/other cheap online retailers: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/XstrolitePC/saved/nhpx6h The total comes out to $2817 + 9.5% tax = $3094 But at Microcenter, the total was $2550 + 7.5% tax = $2741. This is the parts list for the prices I got at microcenter, if interested: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/XstrolitePC/saved/dx4RkL My state, California, has a statewide 9.5% retail tax, but some cities, like the one Microcenter was located in has lower tax rates. I also had an issue with the CPU, and easily returned it although it was outside the 15 day return period. So, all in all, I HIGHLY recommend going to your microcenter! Sorry for those of you that are hundreds of miles away from the nearest one :( [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Dec 2019 01:24 PM PST Hello guys I have recently just bought a new PC and wanted to use some of my old PC parts combined with new PC parts to build a mini PC with and for my girlfriend and wanted to know whether these specs will work? I have never built a PC before and this is my first time so I'm sorry if some components might seem a bit stupid and obviously not compatible. Upgrade now or wait for Zen 3? Posted: 30 Dec 2019 10:28 AM PST Hello friends, Current rig:
I plan to upgrade my gaming rig (6ish years old) with a new build that's aiming for top end performance (goal is 1440 @ 144hz). But I have a dilemma - the i9 9900k is arguably the best gaming CPU right now but it's also using 14nm tech on an old chipset that doesn't support PCI 4.0. Now here's my thought. Intel has been lacking lately and I don't have much confidence that their next chips will be stellar, whereas AMD seems to be doing well and if early reports are true, Zen 3 chips should be pretty beast. Rather than wait for Zen 3, should I do a top end build but go with the 3700X for now and then upgrade to a Zen 3 chip later since it will also use AM4? Unsure about the resale value but waiting 6ish months for a new build would be painful. Open to hear your thoughts, thanks! [link] [comments]
Why did I choose such a stressful hobby? Posted: 29 Dec 2019 06:16 PM PST I just spent the last WEEK trying to resolve what I thought was a GPU issue, cursing AMD for creating a buggy GPU (5700 XT paired with a 3900x) with shit drivers and horrible temps. I exchanged cards three times. Three fucking times. All 5700 xt, from Powercolor to MSI and finally to Sapphire. Each time I reinstalled drivers and windows at least ten to twenty times. I took apart the computer piece by piece, testing various combinations of parts and cutting my fucking fingers on the plugs. Why the fuck are the plug corners so fucking sharp? Nothing worked, or when it did, not for long. God had forsaken me. I felt like Sisyphus pushing that fucking boulder up the hill. Why not switch to nvidia, you ask? Cause I'm fucking broke that's why. Plus, this was my dream build and I was going to make it work goddamnit. I thought the Sapphire pulse would resolve the issue. But no, the pc crashed almost immediately upon starting any game and would take forever to open chrome, CHROME. Fuck, the pc would crash if it went to SLEEP. Turns out I just needed to update the bios for my mobo. Now, everything works hella smooth and lightning fast. Goddamnit, it feels so good. Edit: mobo is Gigabyte x570 I Aorus Wifi Pro [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Dec 2019 05:28 AM PST A brand new 1070ti from MSI is available for about 330 usd and an RTX 2060 from Zotac is available for about 365 usd. This is my first ever build. What card should I get? How future proof would the 1070ti be? I plan on keeping the same setup for at least 3 more years. Oh and I'd be playing on 1080p. I cannot afford a 1440p monitor right now so I'd be keeping the 1080p monitor for next 3 years as well. Other components I am planning to buy - i5 9400F 16GB (8x2) 3000Mhz RAM 1080p 144hz monitor. Note : If I buy the 1070ti (which is cheaper), I'd be able to buy something extra as well, like a couple of extra fans or better headphones. [link] [comments]

RX 5700 XT vs 2070 Super vs 2080 Super Posted: 30 Dec 2019 12:27 PM PST I'm trying to decide what best fits my use case. Currently I have 1080p 60 fps monitor and a Oculus Rift S. But I plan on upgrading to a 1440p with somewhere between 120 - 165 fps. I don't plan on going for 4K for quite some time so I think the 2080 Super is over powered. What do you'll think fellow redditors? [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Dec 2019 09:33 AM PST I just upgraded my pc with to 2x8gb 3200 and it is detecting all of it but it says only 7.93 gb usable. Any tips would be greatly appreciated [link] [comments]
Installed a graphics card and now there's no display Posted: 30 Dec 2019 12:01 PM PST I have 2 monitors and today switched from the ryzen 2200g intergrated graphics to a 1050ti graphics card. I uninstalled the radeon graphics and installed nvidia geforce. Now my graphics card is producing an output on a hdmi to my main monitor but my second monitor (which has to use vga and connect to the motherboard's I/O) doesn't get and signal. When i've tried to plug my hdmi main monitor into the morherboard it won't work either and only the graphics card produces an output. Is there a way for the motherboard and graphics card to output a signal. Sorry for incorrect terminology - i am a PC building noob. [link] [comments]
Brand new to PC building: Can I power my GPU from a SATA port? Posted: 30 Dec 2019 11:57 AM PST I'm brand new to PC building so I apologize if I make any obvious mistakes. I have an old PC a friend gave me. It's an HP Compaq Elite 8300 (I think that's the name of the computer and not just the name of the case). it's in working order except he sold the GPU that he had in it. He put another one in, an AMD R9 370. The only issue is that this GPU needs an external power source from a six pin cable. The power supply in this PC doesn't have the needed slot for this cable. The reason I learned from this video is that HP motherboards use a different power supply connector than standard, which doesn't have this six pin cable. If I wanted to buy and install a new power supply with this cable, I would also need a new motherboard. I've looked up what the SATA port can supply vs what the GPU needs and I'm not sure if it will work. this cable has two SATAs and one six pin GPU power, could I use both of the SATA cables plugged into the 6 pin if one SATA port can't supply enough power? If this can't work, what do you recommend I do instead? Maybe get a new GPU that doesn't need the external power, but I want to avoid spending $300+ for a new part if I can get this one to work. Thanks! Let me know if there's more relevant information about the PC that I can give. [link] [comments]
What are some upgrades I would need to make to make to support a i7 8700 and Gtx 1080 ti. Posted: 30 Dec 2019 01:47 PM PST I've been looking to upgrade my pc for awhile and my friend said he'd give me an i7 8700 for pretty cheap so I thought I would pick up a Gtx 1080 ti with that as well. Though my pc is in no way ready to support that whatsoever so what are some upgrades I could make for it to be ready with a 700-800 budget? Best motherboard for Ryzen 3700x? Posted: 30 Dec 2019 01:45 PM PST I was using an MSI MPG X570 and it died in a little over a month of use. I'm planning on getting a full refund through Amazon and buying a new MB. Anyone know any boards under/near $300 that won't break like my MSI did? [link] [comments]
The age we live in is seriously awesome. Posted: 30 Dec 2019 01:39 PM PST I play ROMs of old console games from time to time, but it can be buggy on Wii/Wii U, and packing up my whole setup just for a night of gaming at a friends house can be a bit of an endeavor, so I was curious how much it would cost to build a basic system (think laptop specs) that would be capable of running any old-school game. $235 is what I came up with. That's crazy cheap! It might be possible to get an even cheaper CPU and get it below $200, but I'm not sure the CPU I have in this list would be able to run Dolphin too well. But I decided that this is still worth sharing for two reasons: I hope you find this as cool as I do!

Moving into a Travel Trailer, need a smaller case for my desktop. Posted: 30 Dec 2019 01:28 PM PST So like the title says, I'm moving into a Travel Trailer and I will have a lot less space for my computer. I have removed the "extra" parts from my list to get it down to just the basics and I would like your advice on a smaller case that it would fit in. My current case is the Phanteks Enthoo Pro, a full tower ATX case that will take up WAY too much space. So far I have found one case that seems like a better option, but I would like the input of my fellow builders. The one I found is the Cooler Master HAF XB EVO, which seems like it would be a lot easier to fit in our Travel Trailer. Asus B450M-A D.O.C.P. disabled Posted: 30 Dec 2019 01:25 PM PST So I upgraded from a Pentium G4560/H110pro-VD to a Ryzen 5 2600X/Asus Prime B450M-A, and I have 16gb crucial 2400MHz ram, so I wanted to overclock to 3000MHz, or at least 2666MHz, so then I went to enable D.O.C.P., but noticed that in the Ai Tweaker it wasn't present, and in the "EzMode" I couldn't change it from disabled to enabled. I saw a few videos about this and they managed to enable it, idk how. I came here to ask if there's any way. I'm downloading a bios update now, I'll update if anything changes. Also I'm on bios version 2006 now [link] [comments] |
