Has anyone ever seen a redundant backup battery setup in a mission critical device before? Posted: 29 Nov 2019 11:45 AM PST Just curious as to whether something like this exists. Has anyone ever encountered a case where there are two or more backup or CMOS batteries on a logic board, either for fail over or so you can change it without losing any volatile data? Maybe in high security devices where the battery also maintains RAM stored encryption keys or something? Would such a setup even make sense? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 29 Nov 2019 11:15 AM PST Since usb4 will effectively merge USB and Thunderbolt into a USB-C connector, when will they start to appear in mobo? Since Intel is the only manufacturer currently of TB3 chipsets, Alpine Ridge and Titan Ridge , will other manufacturers start making them? Since Intel ceased the royalty requirements. And why are they currently limited to 2 TB3 ports? If you wanted 4 TB3 ports would 2 chipsets be required? Or a new chipset. TB3 use pcie labels, and with the newer mobo having an abundance of PCI lanes, 2x or 4x TB3 ports with x4 pcie lanes shouldn't be an issue. Anybody can point me to news about any of this? When's AMD mobo manufacturers going to start offering mobo with TB3? I know there may a sekect few out now. Will Intel or anybody else create 4 port TB3 chipsets anytime soon? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 29 Nov 2019 03:23 PM PST It says here https://www.displayport.org/displayport-over-usb-c/ that USB DP Alt Mode can do uncompressed 4k/60hz@24bpp with USB 3.1 simultaneously, yet no USB-C dock that I found can do 4k/60hz, only 4k/30hz or 2k/60hz. Only real Thunderbolt 3 docks, or USB-C docks using DisplayLink manage 4k/60hz. What is the limitation? Is there only a single chip available that is used by all docks and that can't use the port to its fullest potential? [link] [comments] |
I bought 2TB hard drive In exFat format Posted: 29 Nov 2019 11:49 PM PST Is there any problem to move files from NTFS hard drive to exFat? I just need it to sotarge files I dont need to edit any file just copy and delete [link] [comments] |
