Graphics Chip & Graphics Card Market Shares/Numbers Q1'22 Posted: 07 Jun 2022 06:15 AM PDT The market decline, which was hastily reported by some outlets, has only taken place in iGPUs. However, this is a problem of the current PC market and has little to do with "graphics chips". The shipment volume of pure desktop graphics cards instead increased again - even though the tendency may meanwhile be pointing in the other direction again after the first quarter of 2022. JPR reports a +32.2% year-over-year increase in AIB GPUs. This would result in a market volume of ~10M units in Q1 of last year. However, this contradicts earlier information from JPR as well as the table presented by JPR itself, which shows exactly 12M units for Q1'21. Presumably, the "+32.2%" year-over-year is an mistake, more likely it is "just" +13.3% year-over-year. JPR reports as well a 4-5% market share for Intel in dGPUs for Q4'21 and Q1'22. This would result in a shipment volume of (very) roughly about 1M GPUs per quarter. This number is very unlikely, because DG2 was not ready at that time and DG1 never had this volume. A total of 2M of these Intel dGPUs should also have been widely noticed - but that did not happen. This number by JPR is IMHO not credible (or needs a more detailed explanation). Therefore, some positions in the following tables have been left open (for the time being).
Notes: All market share figures refer to market share by unit. The interpolated figures (marked with "~") may not be completely correct, as often only rounded figures were available as source material. Market value and ASP refer to end-user prices - i.e., do not represent revenue for AMD & nVidia.

Terrible RMA experience with Lamptron Posted: 07 Jun 2022 10:15 AM PDT My 6 months old Lamptron FC2 fan controlled stopped working few days ago. Checked wiring, etc. no power to the controller. Asked the retailer where I was diverted to request RMA from mfg. Got the email address from Lamptron's website and initiated a conversation. They asked me for video with the fan controller. I submitted one where the fan was working direct power from molex -> 3 pin while it didn't power on from the fan controller. The below pic was their response.
TL;DR Lamptron is asking to do some professional level debugging myself or seek help from someone else but they won't RMA a product that they support and is still under warranty. Why is cinebench so affected by Uncore frequency? Posted: 06 Jun 2022 10:19 PM PDT Just reading this chips and cheese article from march last year and I was fascinated by the dramatic increase of performance in Cinebench when increasing the uncore frequency. Unlike memory latency or bandwidth (which dont affect performance that much in cine) increasing the uncore frequency increases the score a lot, does this mean cinebench fully sits within the systems L3 and the core is bottlenecked on that? Further question: cinebench isn't even execution bound as the 12900k is 30% faster in cinebench over an M1 Max (ST) yet only 10% faster in SpecFP. What explains this delta? Posted: 07 Jun 2022 07:17 AM PDT Does 1440p on 4K screen look good? I want to get a new laptop and it has a 4k screen, but I don't want to game in 4K in case it breaks my FPS horribly. If I game in 1440P, will it still look good on the 4K screen? What about 1080P content? Will it look the same as it would on a 1080P screen? Just one pixel will use four pixels on the 4k screen? Thanks [link] [comments] | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Looking for store that can sell me and ship GPU to Ukraine Posted: 07 Jun 2022 08:33 AM PDT Idk if its right subreddit to ask for.But i have no idea which stores outside Ukraine can sell me GPU and ship it.Because seeing rtx 3060ti for 400-450$ in stores that dont ship to Ukraine, like bestbuy, newegg, while its over 800-850$ in local stores makes me cry.
