What are your opinions on the new Nvidia LHR cards? Do you see them as a viable option to increase GPU availability or as an unnecessary and/or ineffective method to deter miners?

    Posted: 17 May 2021 04:48 PM PDT

My take: Yes, I think LHR may increase availability slightly, but Nvidia and board partners must be transparent to customers on what version they are getting. Also, the addition of LHR may cause older batches of GPUs to skyrocket even more in value. Hopefully, LHR only limits mining and not other GPU intensive workstation and calculation tasks such as folding or encoding. If those functions are limited as well, then people who use GPU for workstation may be forced to pay an even higher premium for a RTX 30-series card.
