Would getting rid of x86 backward compability speed up cpus a lot? Posted: 12 Mar 2021 01:15 PM PST If they did something like a new windows 11 and new CPUs based on ``new x86 code without any backward compability``... wouldnt that kick up performance a lot? I know they will never do that because they dont have the guts to do it... but what if intel/amd/nvidia/amd/microsoft joined up and did it? How much more perf per watt could we get?? Or it wouldnt change much? [link] [comments] |
