Why does SRAM not shrink at the same rate as Logic? Posted: 25 Jan 2021 05:04 PM PST TSMC's details on N3 say that logc will have an area scaling of 0.58x, but SRAM will only scale by 0.8x. [Anandtech] If an SRAM cell is just a collection of gates, howcome it scales worse than logic? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 25 Jan 2021 12:02 PM PST There's a lot of talk and rumor regarding Intel's latest struggles with <14nm (yes, I am aware they're not comparable across different manufacturing processes), business and in general. I want to find some very well-made, informative articles on the subject that have already been looked over and most people find them solid. Anything fit the bill? I have a friend who is interested in the situation and wanted to know more. Or if there's just a particular site or place I could go looking for such articles, that would work as well. Posted: 25 Jan 2021 09:38 AM PST I'm well aware of the 144/155/165 exceptions in monitors, and I know that 60hz was the initial standard in TV's because of the electrical standard in America being 110v/60hz unlike Europe's 220v/50hz, but why is it still a thing in our days ? 60/30 stepping feels incredibly arbitrary, and I'm curious if there is a technical reason why we the vast majority of screens with higher than 60hz are 90/120/240/360 etc. especially since a second is 1000 milliseconds.
