MCM GPUs and the future of SLI/Crossfire?

    Posted: 07 Jan 2021 10:23 AM PST

As has been widely reported, both AMD and Nvidia are reportly working on Multi-chip Module (MCM) designs for their next generation of GPUs. Besides the serious upside in wafer yields and total GPU power of this configuration, I am wondering if the death of multi GPU setups will be shorter lived that most thought?

From my limited understanding of MCM GPUs it seems like they would have to have software to allow each module on the GPU to work together on tasks and I don't see why this couldnt scale to multiple GPUs linked in SLI/Crossfire. For example, lets say a 4080 has 4 MCMs. If we link them in SLI couldn't we have 8 MCMs of power working in sync?

If such a configuration is possible this blows the doors off the current limits of GPU computing power.

If you video record something on your 4K camera phone, is each pixel recorded in (r,g,b) value?? then how many values for each variable?

    Posted: 07 Jan 2021 05:59 PM PST

So I'm talking about a high quality phone from like Apple or Samsung with 4K camera. If you record someone running or biking with your phone, I know that it records values "for each individual pixel" and "each individual pixel" will have a value. But is that value going to be (r,g,b) ?? or would it be something different?? IF one pixel is EXACTLY represented by (r, g, b), how many values for each "variable""?? is it (0~255, 0~255, 0~255)???
