Afraid of 24 Pin ATX connector. Posted: 25 Oct 2020 08:31 AM PDT Didn't expect to find myself on here today. I got my parts for my new build and, being the dumb person I am, plugged the 24 Pin ATX in without cable managing at all. I tried taking it out with the clip but it just would not budge and I hurt my fingers. Someone help. MOBO is GIGABYTE b365m ds3h. It doesn't have to come out but I would rather it look nice. Posted: 25 Oct 2020 09:10 AM PDT Is there a safe way to clean puke off a keyboard? It's not even 2 months old. I am really bummed because the throw up snuck up so fast and my keyboard is really nice 😥 [link] [comments]
Should I wait until RTX 3070 comes out or look for a replacement as it's near impossible to buy? Posted: 25 Oct 2020 11:00 AM PDT Hey everyone, I'm looking to build my first PC and being held back by what graphics card I should buy. I already have the peripherals. Below are the rest of the parts that I'm thinking of buying. Let me know what similar level of graphics card you guys would recommend if I can't get my hands on the RTX 3070. Thanks! CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X ( AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor if it runs out when it comes out) Motherboard: Gigabyte B55M DS3H micro ATX AM4 Memory: Corsair Vengeeance LPX 16 GB DDR4-3200 CL16 Storage: Seagate Barracuda Compute 2 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive Silicon Power A80 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro M TG ATX Mid Tower Case PSU: Corsair RM (2019) 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply [link] [comments]
I found this on ebay, though I'm very skeptical, has anyone else seen something like this? Posted: 25 Oct 2020 09:42 AM PDT I saw this on ebay, though I think it's a scam since it's under MSRP, it does have ebay's own protection. What would be the purpose of a scam like this if I can just get my money back? Any insight would be helpful. (Should also note I found a listing very similar to this yesterday, although under a different username that was just as new) Also found this one the day before, https://imgur.com/a/swuwKDD [link] [comments]
I butchered my MasterCase H500 to improve airflow even further Posted: 25 Oct 2020 11:44 AM PDT I'm building a new RTX 3080 rig (#HopeDiesLast) and after receiving my case I noticed that about 40% of the front fans' intake area is actually blocked by the supporting metal frame. I'm not going to install smaller fans or an AIO cooler, nor am I going to resell this case, so I decided to improve the airflow even further by...well, mutilating the poor thing with an angle grinder: It was my first time cutting something with this machine, so the cuts are a bit wonky, but it doesn't really matter because the front panel covers everything anyway. + I cut a hole at the bottom for an extra 200mm low RPM fan to push some additional air up towards the GPU. It's just odd to me that CoolerMaster put those two big-ass fans at the front and then covered up almost half of their intake area with an unremovable frame. Posted: 25 Oct 2020 09:28 AM PDT So almost all of my pc parts are new except for the PSU Specs: Motherboard: B450M- A Pro Max CPU: Ryzen 5 2600x CPU Cooler: Stock cooler GPU: Nvidia GTX 1660Ti Ventus XS OC Edition RAM: Corsair Vengenance LPX DDR4 2x8 GB 3200Mhz SSD 1: Gigabyte GP-GSM2NE3100TNTD SSD 2: Samsung 830 Series PSU: From previous pc (1000 watts) Windows 10 Pro version 2004, installed on M.2 SSD plus games The temps are very good at around 35-50 celsius on both CPU and GPU I have not overclocked anything and everything is at stock. XMP profile 2 at 3200Mhz I play a lot of GTA 5 and there i don't think i have any micro stutter, but i did try Minecraft again because of streamers and it microstutters like hell Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g84HROqMQ0A Happens at around 8 seconds and 33 seconds I have 2 monitors, main is 144hz and second is 60hz if that helps in any way I have tried changing settings in the nvidia control panel and it did not help I tried having G Sync on and off and it did not help I tried reinstallng windows , games and chaning disks for the windows installion I tried updating all mobo and gpu drivers plus bios I don't know what else to do so if you have any suggestion on what i could do to get rid of this super annoying problem then please let me know! Posted: 25 Oct 2020 01:00 PM PDT Me and my dad are planning to build a pc and I don't know where we should get the parts, im thinking Amazon(and maybe some fans from Best Buy) and my dad wants eBay, where should we get them from? [link] [comments]
Posted: 25 Oct 2020 10:10 AM PDT So I've specifically been looking at getting the Gigabyte Gaming OC 8GB RTX 3070 on the 29th, if I can find it. Newegg recently had the card up saying "Coming Soon" but then took it down a day later and then proceeded to add an Asus, MSI, and EVGA card up that also said coming soon, thoughts? Any specific area to pursue a Gigabyte 3070? [link] [comments]
Can't install Windows 10 on 1TB ssd Posted: 25 Oct 2020 06:40 AM PDT Troubleshooting Help:I have a Samsung 1TB ssd AMD Ryzen B550 mobo Asus Radeon 5700xt Graphics card Amd Rhzen processor And 2x8 corsair vengeance ram cards I used the windows creation tool on a 16gb usb stick and plugged it into the pc. At first,it installed windows, but kept looping and never fully installing. I read formatting the ssd could help, so when choosing the partitions, i formatted the ssd and tried a clean install that way. Then, it gave me the blue screen of death, and after rebooting, it now won't let me install windows on the ssd. The error message says ot can't install on that partitkln because if dlesn't have enough space (it shows 980gb free). Are there any setting I'm overlooking or any steps I'm forgetting? Is my ssd done for? Would Geek Squad be of any use? I've been struggling with this since last night. Any help is appreciated! Edit: I finally got it working!!! Thanks to all who replied and got the gears turning again! For those with my problem, I did what RemarkableTreacle said and that helped install Windows, but it still kept freezing. This video ( https://youtu.be/M-oWHLBq858 ) at 8:15 kind of shows what I did. I formatted my ssd from the partition list, "deleted" all of them, and created a new one with 50500MB. Somehow, that worked. Again, thank you all very much for your help and for those struggling with this problem, try it out! [link] [comments]
Just got back from Micro Center. Did I buy anything stupid? Posted: 25 Oct 2020 11:31 AM PDT Very excited to have finally pulled the trigger and bought most of what I need for my first build. I figured I would wait for Black Friday/Cyber Monday to buy a monitor, but please let me know if there is anything I bought that you think I will definitely find cheaper in the next few weeks. Anyway, here's my haul:
For reference, I am hoping to get an RTX3070 for this build and I have an MSI B550-A Pro in the mail for my MOBO. I'm pretty stoked to have found the Ryzen 7 in an open box for that price. Don't know much about RAM, SSDs, or PSUs so lmk if I can do better there. Thanks in advance for any feedback! [link] [comments]
putting an ssd on a new prebuilt pc Posted: 25 Oct 2020 12:00 PM PDT so my pc is really old and i need to get a new one, since i know 0 on how to build a pc im planning to buy a prebuilt one, however im just wondering if i can just plug out the prebuilt pc hdd/ssd and plug in my old ssd and it will work without a problem. My old ssd is not that old actually since its the only thing i ever upgraded in my pc so its still a really good ssd (crucial 1tb) [link] [comments]
Posted: 25 Oct 2020 12:53 PM PDT I'm currently running an RX 580 8gb with a Ryzen 5 2600 (it was pre-built). I want to upgrade the GPU first but I'm not sure if its compatible with my other parts, etc, and if I do wait until the new ones come out, what should I upgrade to assuming my price point is <$500? I want to stick to Radeon. MB is an AS Rock B450M Pro-4 CB if that helps. [link] [comments]
Posted: 25 Oct 2020 12:43 PM PDT As the title suggests, literally every time I step out of the room to go to the bathroom or grab a snack for a few minuets (normally around five minuets or so) I come back to find myself at the sign in screen with everything I had open at the time closed. I'm concerned that I might be suffering from random restarts of some sort. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? I'm running a Ryzen 5 3600 wiith 32GB of ddr4 3600mhz ram (the xmp profile is on) and everything is running fine. My temps are nice and cold. Any assistance is appreciated. Thanks. Posted: 25 Oct 2020 12:30 PM PDT Hello, I'm trying to build my first PC, and I included a few RGB parts: Case: Corsair Icue 4000X CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 RGB black edition RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB My motherboard choice is currently a MSI MAG X570 Tomahawk wifi ATX AM4, but i read that it could be hard to manage RBG if my motherboard wasn't an Asus. As far as I understand RGB management, it should work with Icue, but does it really require my motherboard to be an Asus? I'm not so sure to understand how controling rgb works. If anyone could clarify that for me, that would be great. Thanks [link] [comments]
"missile switch" style power button mod Posted: 25 Oct 2020 11:15 AM PDT Im wanting to combine a "missile switch" style power button in series with a momentary button for a very unnecessary starting sequence for my pc. The "missile switch" has a built in LED that im wanting to stay lit while the PC is on. Link to the switch in question: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/11310 Would it be possible to wire this in with a momentary switch to allow for the LED to stay lit? Would i need suplimentary power from the PSU to do so? [link] [comments]
Posted: 25 Oct 2020 09:05 AM PDT Hi! I hope this is the right place for me to post this too, because I really need some help. This is my first time ever wanting to build a pc, however I want it to run Linux because I personally hate windows, can't get on with it, so Linux is my go to. The issue is, is I have no clue what parts I should get. I'm planning on playing games like Payday 2, TF2, Life is Strange, CS:GO, Insurgency, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, and Vengeance, to name a few games. I'm also considering playing call of duty on there too (using something like proton, wine, lutris, etc.) So I want to build something that can run at least 1080p 60fps. My maximum budget is £750. Any help would be greatly appreciated! For anyone wondering what distro I'll be using, I always go for Zorin OS, which has the option of installing Nvidia graphics automatically. Edit: ok so I'm getting several insults (which are being moderated) and I really don't appreciate it. Yes, I don't get on with windows, I don't like it, that is MY personal preference in life. I want to build a Linux gaming PC because I work well with Linux. At the end of the day, I came here to get some help on building my first pc. I've always been a console player, however I've decided to change it up a bit, plus there are lots of games that aren't crossplay enabled, and so being able to play with friends has been tough since they're on PC themselves. So please, if you're going to comment, make it useful, make it helpful, please don't insult me. Thanks. [link] [comments]
Hey guys please help me make a decision would mean a lot. Posted: 25 Oct 2020 11:59 AM PDT So I'm building a computer for the first time. I'm gonna use it for gaming as well as productivity. And I'm going to play all the latest AAA titles. And for productivity I use ansys, creo, basically designing and simulation. I need help with the gpu . Here are my options- 1) Sapphire nitro+ RX580 8GB with only 8 gb of ram. 2) Sapphire nitro+ RX580 4GB with 16 gb of ram. 3)GTX 1650 super with 8 gb of ram. Would anyone please help me out? Also I only game at 1080p60 [link] [comments]
Posted: 25 Oct 2020 11:52 AM PDT On Mobile, sorry if I screwed up the formatting. This is not considering the new 5 series yet. I did a user benchmark with the option of doing a 3900x with the new asus ROG Striz b550-a and doing a cheaper graphics card with the thought of an easy upgrade later (currently I'm running ryzen 3 with vega on my laptop so anything is an upgrade). The other option is going with a low-mod processor 3600x and b-550m-a prime with a much higher end graphics card like 3080. The 3600 did better in almost every aspect! Went from 70% to 160% for gaming dropped from 96 to 93 in desktop (no complaints) and went from 79% to 151% in workstation benchmarks. Does the processor make that little difference outside of the creative field? I wanted a build to last me a bit, I haven't built a gaming pc since 64 bit processors were a new option and I needed a driver in a floppy to boot to SATA. Maybe I was aiming too high with the ryzen 9 lol. Any advice would be great! Userbenchmark PC Build Comparison

Posted: 25 Oct 2020 11:50 AM PDT Id like to run warzone at 2k 80+fps on medium settings if possible. I'm a noob, is this possible with my $1000 budget? [link] [comments]
What would be your next upgrade if you had this build? Posted: 25 Oct 2020 06:47 AM PDT Hey there, super new to PC gaming and looking to upgrade my prebuild. I bought the CyberPower PC Bundle from Best Buy with the following specs;
Here is a link to the bundle. What should be my next upgrade? I'd like to be able to run Warzone a little bit better. I can run Warzone and Assasin's Creed Odyssey at about 50 - 60 fps on high settings FYI. Thanks in advance, [link] [comments]
PC died and need help figuring out which parts to replace to fix Posted: 25 Oct 2020 01:15 PM PDT Hey /buildapc, The other day my PC shut down unexpectedly and now won't turn back on. When booting up, the fans will spin briefly and then it will shut back down again. If I don't do anything this will repeat over and over again without it ever actually booting. For reference, here is the build as it was when it died: [PCPartPicker Part List](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/873yJV) This build is years old, built in 2014 with almost everything except the GPU which I upgraded to last year. Everything has worked without issue since then. Since crashing here is what I have tried with no change in power-on behavior: deep clean all components for dust etc. Unplugging non-essential components (gpu, drives, 1 RAM stick at a time) Reseating CPU, reapplying thermal paste, and reattaching heatsink Replaced the power supply to this model At this point my thoughts are it is the CPU or MOBO that are dead, but am not an expert. Looking for any guidance on what to replace or how to rebuild from this point, or other options for things to do to narrow down what is actually the cause of my problem. Big thanks in advance for any help you all can offer. [link] [comments]
GPU covers up too many PCI-E slots so the wifi card won't fit Posted: 25 Oct 2020 10:21 AM PDT Title basically. This is the build https://pcpartpicker.com/list/XYFRBc Here are the motherboard GPU and wifi card specifically https://www.amazon.com/dp/B089FY7QT1?tag=pcpapi-20&linkCode=ogi&th=1&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B083X25J8C?tag=pcpapi-20&linkCode=ogi&th=1&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-802-11AC-Wireless-AC3100-Adapter-PCE-AC88/dp/B01H9QMOMY Here's an image of the PCI-E slots being covered https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/752375943850491974/769971451608170498/image1.jpg?width=508&height=677 Any potential solutions? I'd really rather not go for a wifi adapter and ethernet isn't really an option here. [link] [comments]

Posted: 25 Oct 2020 11:26 AM PDT I am in the process of trying to put together a build using the box of spare parts that accumulated over the years. I have a Gigabyte motherboard GA-Q35M-S2 and got a Core2 Quad 9550 from ebay to put on it. The BIOS revision needed to be updated to support the 9550 but now it doesn't seem to turn back on. The power supply and CPU fans spin but nothing else happens. Is there anything I can do to recover the board or did I brick it beyond repair? It has a BIOS_1 and BIOS_2 labeled on the motherboard with 2 nearby jumpers but nothing in the motherboard manual mentions these jumpers. Pics of jumpers: https://imgur.com/gallery/l4TWRm8 [link] [comments] |
