| Posted: 21 Mar 2020 08:45 AM PDT Hello gamers. We are looking for a decent ish pc that can run decent games like doom, at mid settings, at like 60fps or whatever. Just decent enough, nothing crazy you know? Budget is about £650. As I said, we really really do not want to build one. If the price difference between building and buying pre build is something like £75, we are more than willing to do that. So, overclockers.co.uk seems to have a good reputation for pre built pcs, so, I thought an AMD pc with geforce graphics card would be good (it's what I have) So we found this, of course wanted to configure it: https://gyazo.com/a802486eba94cb060cb79ecbf14ac507 After configuring some of the stuff we got this: https://gyazo.com/5d3b193993b25282729c4e7b842b736e , I would say it's pretty solid, what do you think? If he wanted to add a ssd himself could he do that? because the ones they list are unnecessarily expensive. Would we be able to change any parts if we wanted to in the future? More details of the default specs they use - https://gyazo.com/d66f9e6001e83e26a0151aaeaf31ace9 What u think? btw this is what we changed it to - https://gyazo.com/5d3b193993b25282729c4e7b842b736e would that be a strong pc? thanks [link] [comments] | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Posted: 21 Mar 2020 01:46 PM PDT PCPartPicker Part List:
Plans for this Build: My current computer is a 2013 MacBook Air, which was great for college as a netbook, and could even run games like Minecraft, Civ 5, and some other games at low settings. But I am looking for something that can run games at a little higher resolution, and that I can use do GIS work at home, which requires a relatively high level of processing power. Unique parts of this build The unique parts of this build I would say are the case, because it is a slim, vertical build with a handle, and the screen, which has a collapsible stand. The case seems to have enough airflow, and I included a cheap CPU cooler just to ensure air moved around. The screen is about 16", mimicking a laptop screen. I might get some bigger ones for my office at my house though. Concerns I feel pretty confident about the components, Motherboards I have almost no experience with though. This one seems to be compatible on first glance. This build seems to be able to accomplish everything I want, and is about $1,000 cheaper than a comparable laptop. My main question is whether all these components make sense together (e.g. I went with an i-9, but is that unreasonable compared to the other specs?) Whether the CPU cooler is a good idea, it's a cheaper one, but I wouldn't mind upgrading a bit. Lastly, whether there is any area I could reduce to save a bit of money. My budget is about $1,500, but obviously I'm going to use this computer multiple years, so $100 over budget plus tax isn't going to blow me out of the water. Thanks for any help you are willing to give! [link] [comments]
| 5700xt or wait for update in 2020? Posted: 21 Mar 2020 01:43 PM PDT I've read a bunch of news articles (most of them speculative) regarding the rumored Navi 2/RDNA 2 gpus. Will these GPUs only be for the high end market (going head to head against the 2080 series) or will updated versions of cards like the 5700xt also be coming? I'm not sure whether to buy the 5700xt or wait because I'm not sure whether something better for will be coming (at the same price point) this year. | Troubleshooting first build, burning smell. Posted: 21 Mar 2020 11:13 AM PDT So I made my first build around three months ago everything went well and I had no problems till now. The other night I had a strong smoke smell, almost like cigarettes. I thought it was my roommates recently till I found out it was coming from my pc. My case opens on both sides, one side has a metal divider the motherboard rests on, behind it is an area for cables. This the area where the smell is primarily coming from. I opened both sides and made sure no wires had contact with GPU or psu or the board. Sprayed it down with canned air and checked the transistors/whole computer for deformation/warping. I couldn't find anything. The computer runs fine. No frame drops or heat issues, checked cpu /GPU usage in task manager. Everything comes up clean so I'm at a loss at wtf is going on. The only thing I could think of is psu? There seems to be contact with a heat sink and a component but it would've smelled by now. [link] [comments] | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Posted: 20 Mar 2020 04:52 PM PDT I guess many of you may be in the same boat. Been researching for months, have pretty much settled on core parts and would be finalizing and shopping about now for parts. But with the uncertainty of the coronavirus I'm having to wait. If it was just me I think I'd be ok. At the moment my job is fine, but my son is in a precarious situation. So I'm holding on to my money in case he needs help, he has a partner and my little granddaughter. Although hopefully the latest government schemes (UK) will help them if it comes to that. Anyone else put their plans on hold for now? Stay safe everyone. Be kind to each other, and be sensible. [link] [comments] | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Is the GTX 1080ti worth a buy atm? Posted: 21 Mar 2020 12:54 PM PDT Hey guys, I just found this 1080ti on amazon for 320€, userbenchmark.com says it's pretty equal to the RTX 2070 Super as of the effective speed. But is it worth the money? I just read that NVidia released the Raytracing tech for the GTX 10'er series too. I have a 1070 which is good too etc, but I could resell it for AT LEAST 160€, probably closer to 200€. What do you think, is it worth the upgrade? | This will be my first PC. Please help. Posted: 21 Mar 2020 12:24 PM PDT
Hello. My laptop recently caught on literal fire. I'm looking to build my first PC. I'm not too familiar with parts. I do want to keep an RTX 2080, and an i7 CPU, but I'm not sure which GPU or CPU of those types would be the best. I want 32GB of RAM (Don't ask me why). The only thing I do not want any help on is the keyboard. I have used that keyboard and have a massive personal preference for it. I already have a mouse, extra hard drives and 2x M.2 SSDs. TL;DR: I'm not sure what to do. I want a 1440p 144hz monitor, RTX 2080, i7 CPU, and 32GB of RAM. The monitor is a bit expensive and I'm not sure about it. Thank you! **Aesthetics is NOT important at all to me. [link] [comments]
| Posted: 21 Mar 2020 12:24 PM PDT Hey I got a ryzen 7 2700x with a 2060 super and sometimes I feel like my cpu temp might be off. When I'm idle I'm looking at about 45 to 60 celcius. When gaming I'm looking at 55 to 85 celcius. Is that good, and yes I'm using the cpu cooler that came with it I did have to have to reapply thermal paste on the cpu cause I bricked my motherboard and had to reinstall my cpu into a new board. | Building my 1st PC, I need help on the details. Posted: 21 Mar 2020 12:22 PM PDT I have done some research, and I need help with the details before I buy the parts, if it's not much trouble. I am a begginer web developer, and am trying to improve so I can keep my job after the contract ends. I also like video, and would like to be able to learn more. Also a gamer. Mostly Football Manager lately, because my 6 year old laptop needs retirement after taking a beating everyday because of college work, but I'd like to finally complete the triology and play Witcher 3. Gaming Right now I have a 1080p 60fps monitor, but I will be buying either a 1440p or a ultra-wide to keep it company, preferably playing at 60fps+ What is your budget? Around 1700€, may go to 1800€ if needed. My list after some research..
Additional details. I am thinking if I should try to keep the 3900x with the stock cooler for now, or if I should go for something better. [link] [comments]
| Posted: 21 Mar 2020 07:24 AM PDT So recently my pc has been shutting down mid game. I thought it was thermal so I got new paste for the cpu but after installing after burner I realize that my fan blades are not spinning at all. Is there some program that will override the default settings? In the amd driver thing I have the fans set to go to full when at 60 degrees. Is there a program that will turn them on? Is there a header I'm not plugging in? Is there another fix besides slapping some older case fans to it? Please help I would like to grind some ranks out in this troubled time. | Posted: 21 Mar 2020 05:26 AM PDT I have a Ryzen CPU, but I made the mistake of buying 2400 MHz memory. Is it worth upgrading to 3000 MHz? I have it overclocked to 2933 MHz right now. Also is it possible for me to buy 2 x 8 GB DDR4-3000 memory to add to my computer as well as my current 2 x 8 GB DDR4-2400 memory? (i.e, are they compatible? They're both from the same brand - Corsair, and they have the same CAS latency provided I stop overclocking my current memory) EDIT: I have also OC'ed the CAS latencies of my current RAM from 16-16-16-39 to 14-14-14-22. | My mobo done still have correct fan headers Posted: 21 Mar 2020 05:16 AM PDT My case only wants SYS_FAN headers and only supports it. But my mobo only has cpu fan headers and CHA_fan headers. How do I get it to work? [link] [comments] |
