Posted: 27 Feb 2020 04:37 AM PST All of your computer parts come with a box. Keep those suckers. It was the first rule I learned when i was building my pc (wish I remembered where I got the article from.). If you keep your boxes it makes it incredibly easy to ship everything if you ever part out. I always see things like "no original box" or "no box it was packaged in but will package my best". If you keep your boxes this will never be an issue. Now, I understand some people find it very hard to keep track of that many boxes (myself included lol) but if you take all of them and place them in your case box, they should all fit just fine. You may even get very lucky like my wife did and your case box will have a second exterior box specifically for it (I shit you not it had a label on the inside "for computer parts in pc"). Not only does keeping all your boxes make for good part outs but it makes for easy and safer shipping of your whole system. All you need to do is take everything else out and simply pop your case with everything in it. After all, your case box was literally made for your case. TL:DR keep yo' boxes. Posted: 27 Feb 2020 04:49 AM PST So, my dad is a tech guy works in IT, and IT security. So I get to help him with a lot of stuff. At 11 I helped him by putting hard drives in micro servers. Not much, just had to open it and slide the hard drive in. At 12(ish) helped him build miners. He just gave me the boring work of putting all the GPUs in. Still pretty fun putting 30 GPUs or so in 3 computers/miners. Around this time I started liking computers more and started learning some basic programming in school (HMTL + PYTHON) At 13 he gave me an old PC with a huge ass case (Cooler Master Cosmos II). Old parts. i3-4130, 8GB ram, 2x RX570 4GB, and a 256GB SSD. I took it and with his help and some of my money, I bought a R5 1600X and a ASUS B450-F motherboard. Replaced it put in some DDR4 ram (16GB). Put in a WD 1TB HDD we had lying around. Replaced the GPUs with 2x RX580 8GBs from the miners. Then I was using it for a year or so. Then I sold it to a friend. At 14, I made a new system 90% from parts we had already. i3-4130, ASUS P9D WS Motherboard, 16GB RAM, 2x RX580 8GB, 128GB SSD, 320GB HDD (replacing soon with 2TB SSHD). And 2x RX580 8GB from the miners. I then later (a week or so after) upgraded the CPU to a Xeon E3-1230v3 which my dad bought off Ebay. I just moved to a new country and as my build is good enough for the games I wont be upgrading soon apart from the 320GB HDD to a 2TB SSHD but as I recently moved to a new country I am still waiting for my PC to arrive. Around this time is where I really took an interest in python too. Doing personal projects outside of school. Doing more complex codes than what we were doing in school and those kind of things. Now I still have money from selling my PC and PS4 and would maybe like to try PC flipping but idk if it will be easy to sell in the country where I live/if it will be a good investment. Otherwise I'll just save up for my future whenever I may need it. I still enjoy making builds on PCPartPicker for others whi need help. I find it fun. I dont use HTML/CSS much any more but I still know how to use it (basics, nothing advanced), I'm pretty good in Pythin I think, atleast for a kid my age. I started learning C# but i stopped and i think i will start again as soon as i have time P.S. I'm still 14 now. [link] [comments]
Long overdue thank you. First PC build. Posted: 26 Feb 2020 03:51 PM PST Just wanted to say thanks to people in the sub-reddit. Built my PC a month or so ago and not without the help of you guys and r/buildapcsales for prices of course lol. First time building a PC, watched a ton of videos but got most of my information on here. Gamed on console for about 10-15 years I'd say and I've made the switch. It didn't come without a few hiccups here and there but finally have my build to where I want it and thanks to y'all. Build: Ryzen 2700x NZXT Kraken x52 ASUS ROG Strix B450-F Corsair Vengeance Pro 2x8 3600 sticks (inebriated me wanted two dummy sticks) Adata XPG Spectrix 512 GB (cheapest m.2 with DRAM at the time I bought this, did not get for the RGB. Don't kill me lol) Seagate 2tb Asus 2060 Strix gaming advanced card Cooler master H500 Be quiet pure power 11 80+ gold [link] [comments]
Thinking of buying a 2060 Super. Thoughts? Posted: 27 Feb 2020 02:34 AM PST Hey fellow redditors, as the title says I'm thinking of buying a 2060 Super. About a month ago my 980Ti decided to die, it had a good run and will be missed. Been playing minecraft off my integrated GPU :( I'm thinking of upgrading to a 2060 Super, and am leaning towards the MSI 2060 Super Gaming X as the one I'm going for. I'm looking on advice as to weather or not I should buy this card, and am open to suggestions if you recommend a different 2060 Super or a whole new card altogether. Games I'm planning on playing are Arma 3, Tarkov and possible CSGO and R6 Siege. Arma 3 being the most system intensive imo. My price budget is around $700-750 AUD. I've found an offer for the card listed above for $680AUD. My PC specs are: 16gb Ram, downloaded of course. I7-4790 3.60ghz. Corsair HX850 Platinum 850w PSU. Mobo is a ASRock H97M Anniversary Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard. Thank you all for taking the time to read this and I look forward to any advice :) [link] [comments]
First PC- Under 1000$ build. Would appreciate some input. Posted: 27 Feb 2020 11:49 AM PST Hey guys, I am trying to assemble the parts for my first pc build. I read a lot of the threads here and came up with this: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ZcWZWb I wanted to ask about ways I could make this a better build. I'm also not completely sure what to make of the specs surrounding the video card, any input would be helpful. Thanks! Usecase: I am building a gaming pc for my brother. He likes to play modern games but isn't picky about the graphics (can run on high or medium). I myself just want to build one and truly make sense of the specs I'm reading for each part. "I'm just gonna upgrade my GPU" Posted: 27 Feb 2020 02:04 PM PST Got a 1660 Super to replace my dummy thicc MSI R9 390, thought to myself, "wow i can get a smaller case now that I don't have a 2.5 slot GPU". Saw that Corsair released SFX PSUs since I last built a PC, bought one. Then I went down the rabbithole of /r/sffpc. Next thing you know those Microcenter deals pop up on /r/buildapcsales and I get my friend to proxy me a new mobo + CPU. Ended up dropping $1200 all in all upgrading my rig since my last semester at college is extremely light and I began gaming again after watching Netflix Witcher. Also wanted to downsize since I'll be moving around a lot after I graduate, so went from 28.2 L Corsair 250D > 7.2 L Dan A4-SFX. Old Rig: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/sJHRFG New Rig:
Load temps are from running Cinebench R20, haven't stress tested the GPU though since I wasn't really concerned about those temps but I was about using the 3600x with the NH-L9a. Might've applied too much thermal paste but the temps aren't awful so I don't feel the need taking apart the whole case to redo the paste job. Not sure if I'm supposed to be idling around 45-60 C at 50% speed. Extremely quiet build still but I don't have any fancy tool to measure dB. tl;dr fuck me and don't go on /r/sffpc unless you hate your wallet its a great subreddit [link] [comments]
How much clearer is 1440p than 1080p? Posted: 27 Feb 2020 10:25 AM PST How much clearer is a 27 inch 1440p monitor than a 1080p 24 inch monitor? And is it 1440p worth the framedrop on a 2060 super? [link] [comments]
Posted: 27 Feb 2020 04:26 AM PST I'm looking to build a pc for under $1300 AUD, I'm not 100% sure if this list is good or not. Advice would be appreciated

Posted: 27 Feb 2020 01:02 PM PST So I ordered this kit of memory for my new (and first) PC build. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016ORTUIA/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 However, it seems like they sent me the same thing, but included air flow. So the box looks like this (which is different from the box that it is the amazon link, that has no air flow, which is what I ordered) Im wondering if I NEED to add the air flow that it came with? I haven't put it together but I have a feeling there will be no room for it. Ignore my ignorance if Im not saying the correct terms :) Original Parts Picker list for my build for reference: https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/f3oaej/first_build_want_to_make_sure_everything_is/ [link] [comments]
Ryzen 9 3900X: Wraith Prism LED Cooler vs. Cooler Master Hyper 212 Posted: 27 Feb 2020 01:01 PM PST Hey all, Recently picked up the Ryzen 9 and it came with a Wraith Prism LED Cooler. I have been using that and everything is fine. No issues. Curious if there is any reason to switch to the Cooler Master Hyper 212? I have one new in the box as I was going to use it when I was originally going to buy a Ryzen 7 (spontaneously went with the 9, heh). I don't care about the lights on the Wraith. So that is not really a factor. Just wondering if the Cooler Master is technically supposed to be a better cooler. If they are close enough in performance I won't bother taking the time to swap it and will just gift the Cooler Master to someone. Thanks! Help/feedback on 700-800 Euro gaming PC Posted: 27 Feb 2020 09:51 AM PST I think I'm almost ready to actually buy and build my PC, but want some advice from people who actually have experience building computers. My current budget is 700-800 Euros, with the current build costing me around 750. My goal is to be able to play all current games at 60 FPS or higher at High or better graphics at 1080p.
I was also specifically wondering about the GPU, as I'm not really knowledgeable on brands. is Palit a good one? I should probably also mention that the pcpartpicker prices are a bit off as they are all, with the exception of the case being bought from Mindfactory.de from Germany, the actual prices looking something like this: b450 Tomahawk Max: 108 Euro Ryzen 3600: 172 Euro Palit Geforce GTX 1660 Super: 236 Euro Ballistix Sport LT: 76 Euro Meshify C: 84 Euro bequiet! Pure Power 11 600 W: 70 Euro Kingston SSD: Already own it from my old prebuilt. [link] [comments]
Posted: 27 Feb 2020 12:33 PM PST R5 2600x, XFX Rx 570 4gb, 16gb ram. Vs R5 1600, Saphire Pulse Rx 580 8gb, 8gb ram? Both are in my price point. Might be able to wiggle ram up abit but would have to sacrifice speed. Thoughts? Also there's no more wiggle in my budget atm! So I can't afford to go high before any suggest. Thanks for any replys. Is a jump from a i5 4460 to a Rayzen 3600 a big upgrade? Posted: 27 Feb 2020 03:25 AM PST I currently get 120-135 FPS on LOW settings on fortnite. Will upgrading to the rayzen push me over 200 in game? And also how will the FPS be in crowded end games [link] [comments]
Need help choosing between these motherboards Posted: 27 Feb 2020 12:26 PM PST This will be my first PC build and I need help choosing between these two motherboards. The Gigabyte X570 AORUS ELITE ATX AM4 Motherboard and the Asus TUF GAMING X570-PLUS ATX AM4 Motherboard. They're both in my price range and from reviews I've seen they're the two better boards available I've seen out there. Unless there is something out there better within this price range I completely missed. [link] [comments]
Helpful tip for you guys with a budget Posted: 27 Feb 2020 12:25 PM PST I think it's common for factors to limit you when pc building; money and space. I, for one, have wanted to buy a third monitor. I just couldn't find the space for it though- until I stumbled across this. You can pick up small 7 inch monitors for as little as £20. They're certainly not going to be a primary display, but they're damn handy if you just need a little extra screen real-estate for discord, spotify, steam etc. Here's mine; https://imgur.com/gallery/Mekvo7U Honestly, I can't believe I haven't found these sooner. Super cheap, super diverse in terms of use, and looks damn cool to people who don't know any better. Hope this helps! [link] [comments]

First potential build thoughts? Posted: 27 Feb 2020 01:58 PM PST I got recommended this page as you guys are apparently great at helping out noobs. I'd greatly appreciate if you could give this a look over and let me know if anything isn't compatible or should be changed. https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/QBgsMc I am aware HDDs are cheaper than SSDs but want to only have SSDs because speed and reliability. Would rather stick away from AIO's as water cooling gives me anxiety 😂 Thank you in advance. [link] [comments]

building a pc for a friend for 900 Posted: 27 Feb 2020 10:08 AM PST A friend wants to use his tax refund to build a pc for 900, he's mainly a console gamer so this build is primarily just going to be used for gaming on pc, will this work? if not add any recommendations. the motherboard is an old one from me which has a bios update to the latest gen to support the cpu. the left over money will be used on getting a cheap mouse and keyboard. any changes to add [PCPartPicker Part List](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/qBdCCL) Type|Item|Price :----|:----|:---- **CPU** | [AMD Ryzen 5 2600 3.4 GHz 6-Core Processor](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/jLF48d/amd-ryzen-5-2600-34ghz-6-core-processor-yd2600bbafbox) | $120.98 @ Newegg **Motherboard** | [Gigabyte GA-AB350-GAMING 3 ATX AM4 Motherboard](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/2pnG3C/gigabyte-ga-ab350-gaming-3-atx-am4-motherboard-ga-ab350-gaming-3) | $0.00 **Memory** | [Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/MYH48d/corsair-memory-cmk16gx4m2b3000c15) | $79.98 @ Amazon **Storage** | [Crucial P1 500 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/xpYLrH/crucial-p1-500gb-m2-2280-solid-state-drive-ct500p1ssd8) | $69.95 @ Adorama **Storage** | [Western Digital Caviar Blue 1 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/MwW9TW/western-digital-internal-hard-drive-wd10ezex) | $42.98 @ Newegg **Video Card** | [MSI GeForce RTX 2060 6 GB VENTUS XS OC Video Card](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/QNn8TW/msi-geforce-rtx-2060-6-gb-ventus-xs-oc-video-card-geforce-rtx-2060-ventus-xs-6g-oc) | $309.99 @ Newegg **Case** | [Phanteks P300 ATX Mid Tower Case](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/FCs8TW/phanteks-eclipse-p300-tempered-glass-atx-mid-tower-case-ph-ec300ptgbk) | $59.99 @ Amazon **Power Supply** | [SeaSonic 520 W 80+ Bronze Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/TgW9TW/seasonic-power-supply-m12ii520bronze) | $79.17 @ Amazon **Monitor** | [Acer SB220Q bi 21.5" 1920x1080 75 Hz Monitor](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/GLm323/acer-sb220q-bi-215-1920x1080-75-hz-monitor-sb220q-bi) | $89.99 @ Amazon | *Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts* | | Total (before mail-in rebates) | $873.03 | Mail-in rebates | -$20.00 | **Total** | **$853.03** | Generated by [PCPartPicker](https://pcpartpicker.com) 2020-02-27 13:06 EST-0500 | [link] [comments]
I messed up and bought a PC without a 6-pin connector, and a gpu that needs one. Posted: 27 Feb 2020 01:47 PM PST It's a Dell optiplex 7010 (regular size, not the smaller form factors). It seems like 7010 isnt a specific model. It's more of a line of systems, and I'm having a hard time finding the actual wattage to find out if it can even run the video card. Assuming it's actually powerful enough to even run the card, which is an RX 480 (max 150w, I believe), are there any sort of adapters I could use, or am I in for a new PSU also? Im trying to make a compatible pc Posted: 27 Feb 2020 01:29 PM PST I'm trying to build a PC moving up from a office PC with a budget graphics card in it, I'm trying to go up to a PC with 16gb of ddr4 in it, but I found that the i7 3770k didn't support it or at least the motherboards it uses didn't, I'm considering switching to a ryzen 5 2600, is this a good option, and I'm not sure if this is important but I'm also planning to put a GTX 1060 in it. Any advice is appreciated. [link] [comments]
Posted: 27 Feb 2020 06:40 AM PST Just got some new upgrades, (case, AIO) should I upgrade my PSU and if so what would be the recommended wattage? I do plan on overclocking the 2700x for sure but I'm not so sure about the 1070. Thanks!
