    AMD Ryzen 5600G & 5700G Meta Review: 11 launch reviews & 1410 benchmarks compiled

    Posted: 14 Aug 2021 01:57 AM PDT

    • compilation of 11 launch reviews with ~770 application, ~390 gaming, ~250 iGPU benchmarks
    • stock performance on default power limits, no Adaptive Boost, no overclocking, (mostly) default memory speeds
    • only gaming benchmarks under real games compiled, not included any 3DMark & Unigine benchmarks
    • gaming benchmarks mostly from 720p resolution to create a some CPU limit
    • geometric mean in all cases
    • all performance averages are (moderate) weighted in favor of reviews with more benchmarks
    • for Intel's CPUs, non-F and F models were seen as "same" - but MSRP is always noted for the F model
    • please note, MSRP is tray for Intel, but boxed for AMD (as no other/better MSRPs exists)
    • Newegg & Geizhals retailer prices for the cheapest offer in stock on August 14, 2021 - no matter if box or tray, no matter if non-F or F model (Geizhals prices incl. German VAT of 19%)

PS: Sorry, I not have access to Microcenter prices (geo-blocked). Newegg prices seems sometimes very high, German prices by Geizhals looks much more friendlier.

    Just a post about safety

    Posted: 14 Aug 2021 06:46 AM PDT

This is a post about safety for anyone with any amount of hardware.

Today, just a few hours ago I was getting ready to go out for a few hours with my mother and was going to leave my dog at home.

My mother and I have been smelling something wierd at night for the past few nights, and my neighbour even commented on the smell as well. There are some houses being built near me so we thought the smells were from that and it was normal construction smells. The odour was giving us slight headaches so we were getting a little concerned as the houses aren't close enough to be that potent but we waved it off as some wierd chemicals in the cement mix or something.

I have a projector setup in my room with a raspberry pi connected and it just sits on top of this projector as a plex server so I don't have to run a massive 20m cable across my room from my pc.

I unplugged my raspberry pi's power cable a few weeks ago for maintenence and never plugged it back in, it was one of those raspberry pi 4 USB c cables with a micro USB adapter on the end for the 3b+. Due to the projector being fairly high up I can't see the cable even though I'm 6ft 3 so I just reach for it when I need it.

My new (old) tablet came today and due to our phones being USB C we don't have any micro USB cables laying about any more, and I needed one to change up the tablet with it being a little older as it has the old connector.

Then it clicked, what do I have that has a micro USB, my raspberry pi connector.

I went to reach for it and suddenly felt soft goey stuff on top of the projector and got a massive whiff of that chemical smell, i lifted up the cable and it was on fire and had melted into and fused with the top casing of the projector and most of the adapter was melted at this point as well. This had been melting for the past 3 days, ever since we first smelled that smell, right above my head. My projector sits above my bed.

I obviously unplugged and disposed of the damaged stuff correctly and went on a 2 hour checking obsession fueled rampage of everything electrical to make sure nothing else was on fire or doing anything stupid.

I would have left home today without knowing that I had an on fire cable melting through a projector if i hadn't decided to charge up my tablet. My dog would have been inside the house, family stuff, irreplaceable stuff would have been lost had I not caught it.

I'm not sure why this happened, but I'm sure it's something to do with the lens of the projector as it clicked afterwards that the smell was always around the time I had the projector on and the charger was maybe arcing to something inside the projector.

Don't ignore wierd smells guys, if something smells off, or chemically, check everything twice, I could have lost the best dog I've ever had and not had a home to return to tonight just because I left a cable plugged in. You know when people go on holidays and unplug everything, now I understand why.

    Don't ignore your nose.

Edit: added a tiny bit of information I forgot to add. "This had been melting for the past 3 days, ever since we first smelled that smell, right above my head. My projector sits above my bed."

Edit 2: if anyone that reads this, actually knows why this happened please tell me so I know how to never do it again

Edit 3: to the people saying I need to fumigate ventilate my house, my uncle does it for a living and is doing it for free so the fumes will be gone, we'll still be keeping and eye in our health for now as I know fumes can be nasty things, luckily my windows and stuff were open at the time, and the dog was in a different part of the house so he missed the majority of the fumes, we're keeping a close eye on him and ourselves, but thanks for the advice anyway
