    • geometric mean in all cases
    • stock performance, no overclocking
    • application performance of TechPowerUp is based on their own performance index, who includes a few single-core tests
    • count in that TechPowerUp results tends to be in favor of Intel and higher clock rates, divergent from other reviews
    • gaming benchmarks not on average framerates, instead with 99th percentiles on 1080p resolution
    • list prices: Intel tray, AMD boxed; retail prices: best available (usually the same)
    • retail prices of Micro Center & Newegg (U.S.) and Geizhals (DE = Germany, incl. 19% VAT) on July 3, 2020

There are only few benchmarks of Comet Lake Core i3 models, but TechPowerUp and TechSpot make a good job there and test some of them. The new Core i3 come close to Zen2-based Ryzen 3, but can not overtake the Ryzen 3 3300X, who is faster unter applications and gaming as the Core i3-10100 - and cheaper as Core i3-10300 & -10320 anyway. The gaming advantage of the Ryzen 3 3300X is impressive, because this is usually a strength of Intel's CPUs. Beside this, U.S. retail prices of the new Intel CPUs are still to high, when you compare with list prices or the retail prices in Germany.

Are we gonna start to see socketed Arm chips?

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 08:04 AM PDT

With Apple moving Macs over to Arm and Microsoft looking to do the same with Windows devices, are we going to start to see standalone Arm motherboard and cpus? I don't think x86 is going to go obsolete anytime soon, but will Arm start to gain a presence in desktop computing?

How to Know the Cache Placement Policy Used on a CPU?

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 02:41 PM PDT

    Hello guys,

I have an Intel Core i5-7360U and I'd like to know what is the cache placement policy used, whether it's set-associative, if yes, 4-way, 8-way? etc.

How can I get this level of detail?

    Thanks

Raytracing: How Intersections/sec compare to Grays/sec?

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 08:01 AM PDT

How these two values relate to each other?

Intersection/sec was given by xbox for XSX- it can do 380 billion intersection/sec.

Grays/sec was given by nvidia for its rtx cards- 2080 can do 12 Grays.

Is there anything which can relate these two things? I am curious to know how much intersection/sec can rtx cards do?

    Pls share any info.

    Thank you!
