I've installed a new CPU without a BIOS update, now neither old nor new give video output. Posted: 14 Dec 2019 12:00 AM PST Hey there folks, as the title informs, I have nk video output after installing a new CPU. The old CPU doesn't work either anymore. I did NOT upgrade my bios which was required. No ram reseating or CMOS clearing has worked, with neither CPU. Right now I'm even stuck with just the PSU, CPU, MOBO and GPU plugged in and it still displays no signal. Yes I've tried a HDMI monitor with no luck, now I'm back to using DP. I've asked everywhere and couldn't find a solution. Please help I'm desperate! I can hear my cpu cooler fan spinning faster, then decreasing, then spinning faster again EDIT: It finally booted to BIOS with the old CPU. I'll update now and put the ram back in as well. The solution to the problem: Plugged everything out, even the M.2 drive and ran with a single RAM stick.cleared CMOS via jumpers for one last time and it finally booted to Bios. Everything working fine now. [link] [comments]
spend $120 more to go from gtx1650 to an rtx2060 in a laptop? Posted: 14 Dec 2019 05:34 AM PST I need a laptop with a good cpu for college IT classes, but I also want to play some games on it if I move into the dorms. Is spending 120 dollars more worth it? Where does an AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 stand in the current gen lineup? Posted: 14 Dec 2019 12:55 AM PST Hello folks, I'd like to know where the AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 stand in term of performance only (don't care at all about power consumption) against the current lineup of GPU ? More specifically, the ASUS ROG Strix RX Vega 64. I know that over time, VEGA perf has improved drastically on the driver side so if you can point me to a very recent benchmark that would be very kind of you. Gaming resolution would be 1440p for now but 2160p in the not so distant future so I care about both resolution perf-wise. And I only care to know where it stand against those specific GPU :
Thanks in advance for you'r advice ! EDIT : So basically, what I understand is this :

Gigabyte Aorus Z390 Master IO shield aligned wrong Posted: 14 Dec 2019 12:22 PM PST Hi everyone, Today I tried to install my new z390 motherboard into my Fractal Design Vector RS, however the pre installed IO shield is not aligned correctly, there is some space between the upper right corner and the standoff, the IO shield also doesn't seem to be outside of the case when installed that way and the whole shield seems misaligned I really wanted to install the pc today but unfortunately... I attached some pictures below. [link] [comments]

Posted: 14 Dec 2019 11:33 AM PST My Mom and me are trying to upgrade my brothers pc but we were wondering if an i7 - 3770 is better than a AMD 2700x. My Mom doesn't trust AMD but I've been doing research lately and AMD seems like the better option since their motherboards, processor are cheaper and performance is the same. Which one would be better? [link] [comments]
Need help fixing an issue with my new setup and the monitors. Posted: 14 Dec 2019 12:28 PM PST I just built a new computer and I'm having an issue when I turn it on. When I press the power button on my case the compter boots up and I can see the led indicators on the motherboard. My monitor then displays the MSI logo, but then it goes black and says no input is detected. Then when I press the reset button on my case it seems to fix the issue. I cant figure out why there is no input detected when I use the power button to turn my computer on. [link] [comments]

Posted: 14 Dec 2019 04:02 AM PST Hi, everyone! I just built a new system. The specs are:
I've been running Cinebench R20 with PBO set to Auto and then to Enabled. Here's what I found (according to HWMonitor). Note that other than enabling XMP, I haven't touched anything else performance-related in BIOS. PBO Auto All cores seemed to be running between 3917-3942 MHz during Cinebench R20. Max clock: 4390 MHz Max temp: 59ºC Cinebench R20 score: 4667 PBO Enabled All cores seemed to be running at 4142 MHz (~200 MHz or 5% more) during Cinebench R20. Max clock: 4391 MHz (same) Max temp: 69ºC (17% increase) Cinebench R20 score: 4923 (~5% more) So, the max clock is the same between the two but the speeds all cores were running during Cinebench R20 were ~200 MHz higher, or ~5%, with PBO Enabled. The cost of that, however, was ~10ºC, which is a 17% increase. While just less than 70ºC under full load seems fine, I'm not sure if this is really worth it. In gaming, is it going to be worth having PBO Enabled? From what I've read, some people say it gives a little performance but some say it takes some. Thanks, everyone. Have a nice weekend! GPU fan spinning up to 4k rpm for a few seconds while gaming before dropping back to 2k. Posted: 14 Dec 2019 12:38 PM PST I've tried searching around but couldn't find any solutions. I've got a Gainward RTX 2080 Phoenix GS. While gaming, one fan will spin up to 4k RPM for a few seconds before slowing down. The temps are around 74 C at that time, which seems normal. The limit temperature is set to 83. The second fan works as normal. Here's a screenshot from Afterburner https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/500986444110626816/655506209079558154/unknown.png (I've only ran the game for a few minutes there) I've had this card for a year now. The issue didn't start occurring until around a month ago. I've thoroughly dusted it, and my case. I've tried messing with fan curves, but nothing seemed to change the behavior, the fan still going up to 4k rpm every few moments while a game is running. Any ideas what it could be? PC keeps turning off and on after upgrading CPU Posted: 14 Dec 2019 11:35 AM PST Hey everyone, long story short, I've been having very difficult troubles with my PC lately from just simply upgrading my CPU 8400 to a 9900k. After initially installing the 9900k my computer went into a windows repair mode prior to posting. Current problem: After some time, my computer suddenly started to turn off and on within a second of turning on. Here's my old thread about my initial problem with the windows repair Here's what I tried to isolate the problem with my hardware, however, I had no luck. I have the 9900k installed with all of the below scenarios.
I have no idea what is causing my computer to repeatedly turn off and on within the second of turning it on. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I'm willing to paypal someone $5 if they could help me fix this. Here are my current specs: Mobo- z390 aorus master CPU- 8400 - > 9900k Ram 4x8 gb g skill trident Ssd- m2 nvme Samsung 970 1 tb Gpu - 2080 ti Psu- 650 w gold prime seasonic - > 750 w gold prime seasonic EDIT: After clearing the CMOS via the battery, it finally stays on, however, nothing appears on the screen. Doing a bit more research into the CMOS button, I believe I may accidently hit the Clear CMOS button on accidentally on both old and new motherboard while the computer was on. The Clear CMOS button is right next to the Power on button on the Aorus Master. Could it be that my CPU and motherboard have been bricked? My GPU seems fine and spinning, RAM is glowing via RGB. *Booting with one stick of ram, swapping and trying both. *Booting with GPU removed. *Moving SSD to M.2-3 *Checked to make sure there are no extra mobo risers. *Trying to reset CMOS by flipping the battery for 5 seconds. Guys is that the cmos battery? Posted: 14 Dec 2019 11:18 AM PST I have the aorus master z390 and i9 9900k and rtx 2080 ti. And i noticed sometimes when i check the frequency for my memory with cpu z that my frequency is low. And when i go to check on my bios it gives me a message that my bios has been full resetted. And then i noticed one more thing. The time in bios is wrong by like 5 min. Is that the cmos battery needs to be changed? [link] [comments]
Losing video signal during gaming Posted: 14 Dec 2019 01:27 PM PST So recently after I updated my AMD adrenaline driver from 2019vers. to 2020vers. I've been experiencing loss of video signal during gaming. When this happens my screen turns black saying "video signal is loss" but I could still hear the background music but my screen never returns. Forcing me to shut it down so I can bring back my screen. It's been happening in the past 2 days and haven't found a solution. I have an powercolor 5700 XT, ryzen 2600, and corsair cx650m. I've never had this issue before until I updated my driver. I've tried reinstalling and installing it clean and that hasn't fixed it. It hasn't happened outside from gaming and browsing web, watching vids, hasn't made me lose video signal. Just gaming. Any help is appreciated [link] [comments]
Planning to start on my first build, looking for some part advice. Posted: 14 Dec 2019 01:27 PM PST What is your intended use for this build? The more details the better. I want to use it for gaming and video editing, I plan to mostly play games on it though. If gaming, what kind of performance are you looking for? (Screen resolution, framerate, game settings) Would like to play most games I have on high quality with 60+ fps on 1080p (Witcher 3 and Borderlands 3 are probably the most demanding games I play) What is your budget (ballpark is okay)? I was planning to spend around 800 if that is possible, but after putting a test build together it looks like I will be spending more (especially since I need a monitor and keyboard) In what country are you purchasing your parts? I am in the United States Post a draft of your potential build here (specific parts please). Consider formatting your parts list. Don't ask to be spoonfed a build (read the rules!). https://pcpartpicker.com/user/acelabba/saved/mxXgJx Provide any additional details you wish below.
I am mostly just looking for some help in making sure that this build will like work out fine. I have helped my two roommates build computers, but have never really gone through picking parts online myself, so I am unsure if everything will fit. Also would appreciate any advice / input on alternative parts to use. [link] [comments]
Any tips or trick for non VESA monitor to be in portrait ? Posted: 14 Dec 2019 01:09 PM PST Hi guys, So i have a LG24MP88HM-s monitor which doesn't have vesa mount, i want to use it as my secondary monitors for my game stream to reading live chat. I want it to be portrait due to limited desk space. Any idea how can i make it to be portrait? It doesn't have vesa mount and the stand doesn't support rotation. I was planning to buy something looks like table stand for ipad but bigger size for 24" monitors, are there any stands like that? (sample : https://i.imgur.com/vRej5oD.jpg) Or you guys have tricks or solutions for it. [link] [comments]
Posted: 14 Dec 2019 01:01 PM PST I watched the recently uploaded techsource build guide and at the beginning he says that you only need the adapter to download the drivers. Once you have downloaded them i am assuming that he meant that you don't need the adapter anymore. Is this true or do you have to have a motherboard with built in wifi to not have to use the adapter. I already have laptops that i can download the drivers onto. [link] [comments] |
